Why tablets have line in middle ??

 All of us have noticed a small line in between tablet's surface..

Many people assume it as part of manufacturing design  !!!

In pharmaceutical world, it is called "  score line  ".

It is carefully added during manufacturing.

A score line is a mark placed on a tablet to make it easier to split into smaller doses.

Drug manufacturers design these lines when a medicine is meant to be taken in divided amounts.

Scored tablets are tested to ensure  that each half contains equal amount of active ingredient.

However, taking too much or too little medicine can affect treatment results.

All pills are not safe to split.

Doctors advice a patient to split a tablet only if it has score line and prescription specifically allows it.

Stone Soup

  Mulla Naseeruddin was going to city for some work.

As he was going by walking, it was getting dark. He decided to spend night in the nearby village.

But he didn't know that the villagers are stingy. None of them agreed to accommodate him nor they give food.

Naseeruddin was carrying a pot with him. He ignited fire at the middle of the village.

Poured some water to the pot. As the water was boiling, he fetched a stone of medium size.

As the curious villagers were watching, he put the stone inside the boiling water !!!!

One of the villagers asked him, What is he doing ???

Naseeruddin replied, I am preparing delicious stone soup !!!!

Villagers didn't hear of that soup till now.

They all stood and watched Naseeruddin preparing the stone soup !!!!

Naseeruddin smiled and said if he could find a little salt, soup would be ready in 15 minutes !!!!

Which is the Union Territory ??

  This question was asked on Koun Banega Karodpati program.

Question

Which present day Union territory has its colonial town divided into French town and Indian town ??

1.  Goa

2.  Daman and Diu

3.  Pondicherry

4.   Andaman and Nicobar islands

Answer

Question was talking about colonial town which is now, an Union territory.

In the question it was said that it is divided into French Town and Indian town.

This means colonial power is  FRANCE   !!!

Now looking at the options,

Goa was the Portuguese colony.

Similarly Daman and Diu.

So Goa and Daman and Diu  are ruled out.!!!

Andaman and Nicobar islands were directly governed by  British.

Andaman and Nicobar islands are ruled out !!!

Remaining is Pondicherry or Puducherry.

It is also known as   "  Little France  " !!!

Puducherry has rich French colonial history and cultural influence.

Its architecture, cuisine and heritage still reflects French influence !!!

Puduchery was home to both native Indians and French nationals.

French people were not mingling with native Indians thinking that Indians are black.

A small water canal was seperating the houses.

That's why it was divided into French Town and Indian town.

Correct answer      PUDUCHERRY   !!!

What happens if we don't switch to airplane mode on flights ??

 Answer is nothing  !!!

Nothing terrible is going to happen at once  !!!

People are afraid that if the mobile phone remains switched ON, there would be some emergency for the aircraft.

NO NEED TO FEAR   !!!

Aircrafts these days are built with such advanced technology as to ensure aircrafts are resistant to any form of consumer electronics devices' interference.

But it does not make airplane mode, pointless  !!!

When airplane mode is activated, mobile's cellular radio is turned off preventing the device from connecting to ground based cell towers.

Then, phone may continue to establish connection while the aircraft is taking off, in flight or landing.

This can lead to,

1.  Increased battery usage.

2.  Limited connectivity

3.  Interference or additional noise

When airplane mode is activated, many airlines allow passengers to turn WiFi and Bluetooth back on separately.

Always follow the airlines onboard device rules.

Does parking in the shade prevents fuel evaporation loss in summer ??

  Parking in the shade minimally reduces actual fuel evaporation.

But improves fuel efficiency by lowering AC demand !!!

Shade prevents UV rays from  cracking  dashboard or fading upholstery.

Improves life of car battery.

TO REDUCE FUEL EVAPORATION UNNECESSARY

1.  Checking the loose or damaged gas cap.

2.  Buying fuel early in the morning make sure that fuel is cooler and denser.

3.  Before switching ON AC, drive with windows down for  1 - 2 minutes to push hot air out.

SHADE IS ONLY FOR COMFORT AND AC EFFICIENCY.

NOT RELATED TO FUEL LOSS   !!!

Bheja Fry question

 This Bheja Fry question I came across on Internet.

Question

If          92  +  3  =  73

              75   +  2  =  22

              84  +  3  =  43

Then       97  +  1  = ??

Answer

There are total 5 columns of numbers in the question.

If we see closely, the number of  3rd column has been repeated as the same number fifth column  !!!!

Look at first row,       92  +  3   =  73

The number 3 which is at 3 and 5 column is same.

In the remaining row also, it is repeated.

Now look at numbers at columns 1, 2 and  4.

The number at column 4 is the subtraction result of numbers in column 1 and 2   !!!!

Same thing with remaining rows  also.

Like   75 +  2  =  22

             84  + 2  =  42

Combining all these facts, we can conclude

                      97  +  1   =  51       !!!!

Surprising facts about Caspian Sea

  Caspian Sea appears as a ocean stretching endlessly to the horizon.

Yet, scientists classify it not a sea but as Earth's largest lake  !!!

It surpasses Japan in size.

It borders   Russia

                       Azerbaijan

                       Kazakhstan

                       Turkmenistan

                       Iran

It is one of the world's captivating geological wonders.

However it is not a typical lake.

Its waters arrive chiefly via rivers especially river Volga which supplies 80% of inflow.

Caspian Sea hosts unique species found nowhere else on Earth.

This place has an airport runway crossing a public road !!!!

 Airport runways rarely intersect with roads.

Strict security is ensured for clear separation.

But here, active runway of international airport cuts directly across the main road into the city  !!!

Every time a plane lands or takes off, cars and pedestrians must stop.

This airport sits between the sea and the Rock leaving little room for expansion.

As the result, runway cuts straight across the main road  !!!

When a plane is about to land or take off, traffic lights turn red and barriers come down as every one wait patiently as aircraft roll past.

Birds that produce milk !!!

  The animals who feed their young ones are referred as mammals.

Except bat, none of the birds are classified under mammals.

That means birds don't breast feed their children   !!!!

But there are handful of birds that are evolved to produce a substance known as crop milk  !!!

Crop milk is not the milk similar to the milk mammals produce.

Crop milk is a nutrient rich secretion produced from the lining of crop  which is a pouch in throat area.

Despite its name, crop milk is not a true milk but a secretion rich in proteins and fats.

Here are the special birds which produce crop milk   -----

Why do we have different colour buttons on TV remote ?

  If we closely look at TV remote, we find red, green, yellow and blue buttons.

But we rarely know that why they are used ??

The  coloured buttons are originally designed to make navigation easier when using interactive TV features.

Instead of pressing multiple keys, viewers could quickly select options using these coloured shortcuts.

These colour coded buttons control on-screen menus and special functions.

The green button is commonly used for confirmation or quick access to certain features.

The yellow button is usually linked to extra option or tool.  Like opening subtitles, showing additional program details or accessing additional editing options.

Blue button often provides advanced navigation options or shortcuts.

What is measured with this ??

 This question was asked on Koun Banega Karodpati program.

Question

What is measured in grams per square meter??

1.  Petrol

2.  Gold

3.  Glass

4.  Paper

Answer

I know petrol is measured in litres.

Gold is measured in carrots or grams.

So, both petrol and gold can be eliminated.

Remaining are glass and paper.

Grams per square meter or GSM, is commonly used to measure the weight of materials like paper and fabric.

A higher GSM means the material is generally thicker and heavier  !!!!

But when it comes to measure glass, the scale gets shifted from grams to kilograms.

As glass is much denser than paper or fabric.

Correct answer         PAPER      !!!

Why do AC blast in summer. ??

  Though this type of incidents are rare, if occurred it is primarily due to pressure buildup and overheating due to excessive load.

In summer, high temperatures 45 to 48 degree Celsius, it forces the outdoor unit to work harder to cool the refrigerant gas.

This can lead to system failure if not property maintained.

Running AC continuously for 20 to 24 hours without break puts extra load on compressor.

If the compressor is already under direct sunlight and lacks proper ventilation, risk of blasting is more.

Dirt accumulation, electrical faults and improper installation are the other reasons.

Avoiding running the AC at a stretch not more than 8-9 hours and regular services are the critical safety precautions to be taken.

How do solar winds form ??

  When the extreme heat in Sun's outermost atmosphere, energises charged particles to the point where they can overcome Sun's gravity, then escape into space.

At this time, solar winds are formed.

This continuous stream of plasma, expands outward to fill the entire solar system.

Magnetic fields in the solar atmosphere play a crucial role in accelerating these particles.

When solar wind reaches earth, our magnetosphere deflects most of it. However some particles leak through near the poles.

These particles collide with atmospheric gases, to create Auroras.

Intense gusts can also create geomagnetic storms which can disrupt satellites and power grids

Why all animals look same and humans different ??

  Animals identify each other through scent or sound.  Humans identify each others by their face..

Animals are far more diverse than they appear.  They look same to us because of lack of training of our brain.

Our brains are not evolved to pick up minute details between two animals. So brain categorize them as " identical  "  !!!

Humans look different because we rely on visual recognition for survival and social bonding  !!!!

Bheja Fry question

 Question

Mr Ramakrishna is the bus conductor on KSRTC Bangalore - Kundapur route.

While the bus stopped for 5minutes in Mangalore, he noticed that 4 passengers got inside the bus, 3 of them to Udupi and one to Kundapur.

Price of tickets is Rs 1.3 per kilometer.

What is the approximate extra money collected from these 4 passengers ??

Answer

First we need to estimate the distances from Mangalore to Udupi and Kundapur.

Mangalore to Udupi  ---    56km

Mangalore to Kundapur  ---   90km

The rate is Rs 1.3 per kilometer.

==>>   Fare to Udupi  :   55 *  1.3

==>>                                :   71.50  Rs

Fare to Kundapur  :   90  *  1.3

==>>                             :    117.00 Rs

The approximate extra money collected from passengers to Udupi as there were 3 passengers,

≠=>>    71.5  *  3  =   214.5  Rs

One passenger to Kundapur  =  117.00 Rs

==>>  Total money =  214.5   +   117.0  =   331. 5  Rs  !!!

Why do airplane seats tend to be blue ??

 This fact is a mix of practical and psychological reasons.

Here they are   ---------

1.  Calm and trustworthy

                   .      Blue colour psychologically promotes relaxation and security, which makes passengers to feel at ease during the journey.

2.  Lowers anxiety

                        Blue colour reduces anxiety which is important for nervous flyers.

3.  Hides stains

                          Darker shades of blue easily hides dirt, spills and usage. This makes seats to look cleaner for longer periods.  So no need of frequent deep cleaning  !!!!

4.  Cost effective

                       By using this colourb, airlines  save money on maintenance and replacements.

5.  Blue is for both practical and psychological reasons.

Why are houses in Greece are blue and white ???

 Many people recognize blue and white as iconic colours of  Greece. These are also the colours in Greek flag.

Many of the Greek houses are built out of stone.  Rocky terrain is of darker colour.

This presented a problem during the sunny Greek Summer.  The sunlight falling down on homes would be  absorbed by dark stones making interior unbearably hot.

Hence, residents began painting the stones white in order to cool down their interiors.

Greeks painted their house blue because it was  the cheapest colour available  !!!!

Why does curd turns sour faster in summer than winter ??

 I like to drink curd instead of having rice with it.

But yesterday, curd was so much sour that I could not drink it.

When I complained , my mother asked me to have the sour curd mixing with rice. She added little milk also to the curd rice.

Now the same sour curd has become eatable  !!!

Curd turns sour even in winters.  But it turns sour quickly during summers.

WHY    ???

High temperatures accelerate the activity and growth of Lectobacilus bacteria.

These bacteria converts the natural sugar in milk into lactic acid. This process is necessary to set the curd.

But heat acts as an accelerator, causing the bacteria to multiply rapidly and produce acid much faster than winters.

Once the curd is set, fermentation does not stop there  !!!

The bacteria continues to produce acid, quickly pushing the taste from mildly tangy to sharply sour.

These bacteria thrive best in temperature between 30 to 45 degree Celsius which is common during summer.

That's why curd turns sour quickly in summers  !!!

Foods that should not be mixed with curd....

 Curd doesn't suit to every combination of food.

Some food pairings can upset digestion, cause discomfort or reduce its natural goodness.

Such food combination are  -----

1.  Fish with curd

2.  Curd with fruits

3.  Curd with milk

4. Onions with curd

What would happen if the power is back while generator is running ??

 Nowadays there is lot of load shedding in our area.

Yesterday around 11 PM,  there was a power cut.

Watchman of our immediate next building, switched ON the generator of his building.

After 2 hours, power returned.

But generator was also ON till morning..,..!!!!

I was worried because main supply and generator both are supplying electricity to the building  ...!!!

What if there is an overload to  electrical appliances ???

That would result in either short circuit or back feeding to power grid itself   !!!

In such scenario,

The outcome is determined entirely by how the generator is connected to house.

In a correctly installed system,  two power sources are isolated and should never  " crash  " with each other  !!!!

With correctly installed system, it ensures that house is connected to only one system at a time.....

Bheja Fry question

 Question

A and B are two stations 390 km apart. One train starts at

 station A  at 10 AM and travels towards B at  65 kmph. Another

 train starts at B at 11 AM and travels towards A at 35 kmph..

 At what time do they meet ??

Answer

Let's represent the time taken by the second train as t hours,

First train leaves one hour before so time taken by first train is t + 1 hours.

We know that distance =  speed  *  time

So,

Distance traveled by first train at 65 kmph is 65  (  t   +  1 )

Similarly distance covered by second train at 35 kmph is 35t hours.

Since they are moving towards each other, distance covered would be added up.

==>>    65  (  t  +  1  )  +   35 t  =  390 km

==>>    65t  +   65 +  35t   =  390

==>>     65t  +   35t   =   390  -   65

==>>    100 t  =  325

==>>  t  =  3.25  hours

Meeting time is  11 am  +  3.25 hours

==>>  11 am  +  3 am  =  2  am

==>>  additional 0.25 hours

==  0.25  × 60  =  15  minutes

==>>   additional 15  minutes

Hence both the train meet at 2.15 pm   !!!
