Two way switch
In long corridors, when it is dark, it is difficult to see what is happening in the front. That time, two way switch come in handy.
Two way switch is having a simple circuit consisting of a bulb and two switches to operate. As the name itself says, one switch would be in one end and the other switch would be in opposite end. If we take 0 as the representation of ' OFF ' state and 1 as the representation of ' ON ' state , we cxan write the table like this---------
SWITCH 1 SWITCH 2 BULB
0 0 0 ( not glowing )
0 1 1 (glow )
1 0 1 (glow)
1 1 0 ( not glowing)
Switch 1 and Switch 2 should be connected in parallel to the bulb. This table resembles the table of EX - OR gate.
Thus by using this, we can go in a long corridor without any trouble. But we must see the condition of switch on the other side. By making correct arrangements, we can use this switch.
