What is stray current?

Stray current refers to the flow of electricity via buildings , ground or the equipment due to electrical system imbalance or wiring flaws.
It also refers to the existence of electrical potential that can be found across the objects that should not be subjected to voltage.
Small voltages and small amount of stray current do exist within the power system. On the other hand , large amount of voltage could be a sign of a faulty electrical system.
Electrical currents that are not utilized , return to the source via the phase or neutral wires. If an electrical system is not  installed properly , the current can directly disperse to the ground through the equipment or building itself.
In such cases, stray current can exist in small amounts and it would not be a problem. It can be fatal if it is present in dangerously high levels.
The same thing happens while a person gets electrocuted. Our body as it is largely made of water, acts as a conductor for electric current. During rainy season, if we get electrocuted by lighting which has enormous amount of electricity in it , it proves fatal to our lives.
I read news about persons death because of electrocution in newspaper.
