Does licking of wound , have healing powers?
I have seen Gunda (a tomcat who regularly visits me ! ) licking his wound again and again. Eventually the wound got healed in couple of days.
By seeing that , one question raised in my mind. Did licking of wound helped it to get heal? Even dogs lick their wounds. Saliva of dogs believed to contain anti- biotic properties , that can heal wounds. It contains enzymes such as lysozyme , which is known to kill micro organisms like bacteria.
But I doubt whether a dog or cat know about this?! They are licking their wound just to keep them clean , to avoid dirt surrounding wound.
But I have not seen any humans licking their own wounds !
