Answer 

There is a story behind this.

It refers to God Vishnu's first incarnation "  Matsyavatar   ".

God Brahma, who is also the Creator of universe was in the state of rest.

Demons Madhu and Kaitabha were the demons who born out of ear wax of God Vishnu.

These demons saw God Brahma writing Vedas and stole the sacred texts from him when he was taking rest.

After that, they hid the Vedas in the cosmic ocean.

God Vishnu took the form of a giant fish  (  Matsyavatar  )  and killed the demons.

God Vishnu then restored the Vedas.

The answer is   Vedas !!!

But according to one more story ,  a demon named Hayagriva had stolen the Vedas.

Demon Hayagriva is having horse head on human body.

He stole the Vedas and hid them inside the Cosmic ocean .

Demon Hayagriva was having the boon that he can be killed by one more person similar to him.

Thats why God Vishnu took the form of Hayagriva and killed the demon and restored the Vedas.

Why God Ganesh loves modak .??

 Tomorrow is Ganesh Chaturthi.

We offer modak to  God Ganesh.

But why God Ganesh loves modak ??

Once God Shiva,  Goddess Parvati  and Bal Ganesh visited Anasuya , wife of sage Atri.

Anasuya had prepared a lot of dishes for the guests.

Everyone were hungry.

But Anasuya insisted that only after Ganesh's hunger is satisfied, she would serve others.

Ganesh started eating and almost finished the entire food  !!!!

Still he was hungry.

So,  Anasuya prepared a dish using rice flour,  jaggery,  coconut and ghee.

She offered this special dish to God Ganesh.

God Ganesh after eating that dish , immediately felt full and got satisfied.

This sweet is none other than   MODAK   !!!

What made Nandi to have buffalo face ???

 We all know Nandi as the vehicle of God Shiva.

Nandi was having human face earlier. 

He was the trusted companion of God Shiva.

 Divine couple Shiva and Parvati stay in Kailash.

Once there was a fight between Shiva and Parvati. 

Parvati got angry on Shiva and left the Kailash and went to her father's house. 

After some time, Shiva was searching for Parvati and came to know that Parvati had gone to her father's house. 

Shiva called his trusted companion Nandi and asked him to bring back Parvati. 

Nandi agreed and came to Parvati 's maternal house on a chariot. 

Parvati heard the sound of the chariot and was happy thinking that Shiva himself has come to take her back. 

She was very disheartened by watching Nandi on the chariot instead of Shiva. 

Her anger is now on Nandi  !!!! 

Parvati cursed Nandi to have the face of a buffalo. 

Buffalo faced Nandi came near Shiva crying and said what all happened. 

Shiva asked Nandi not to worry and gave him the boon that wherever he is being worshipped, Nandi will also be a part of it. 

That's why we always see an idol of Nandi in front of the Shivaling. 

God Krishna and Sudarshana Chakra

  Yesterday only, I came to know that name of the air defense system  of India is Sudarshana Chakra..

Sudarshana Chakra has successfully downed the missiles and drones launched by Pakistan.

It acted as the protections shield.

I wondered Why did they named it as Sudarshana Chakra ??

I remembered this story.

God Krishna was rulimg Dwaraka after Kurukshetra war.

That time, for the safety of his citizens he has ordered Sudarshana Chakra to safeguard the city.

History repeats itself   !!!

Sudarshana Chakra is still safeguarding Indians from missile attacks and drones of enemies.

 Udupi is famous fot Krishna Mutt.

The idol of God Krishna, infact he is Krishna in his childhood is getting worshipped by 8 seers.

Each one for the duration of 2 years.

This year Puttige Mutt seer is performing the daily archanas and poojas of God Krishna.

During the tenure of 2 years, he has worshipped God Krishna in various alankaras.

As today, India is striking Pakistan with a revenge for its cowardly terrorist activities,

Seer depicted Krishna as holding Sudarshana Chakra in his hand.

It is totally reliable to present scenario.

We have read in Mahabharata that Kurukshetra war was faught between Pamdavas and Kouravas.

But actual fight was between wicked people and Sudarshana Chakra !!!

It was Sudarshana Chakra who was responsible for the end of wicked people.

In the same way, India has announced operation Sindhoor against terrorists and their hide out.

This time too, Sudarshana Chakra will assist Indian armed forces in wiping out terrorists.

God Krishna has already taken incharge of it   !!!!

Who is the half brother ???

Mirza Hakim who ruled in Kabul, was the half brother of which Mughal emperor?

Answer 

As I remember my high school days,  I know first Mughal King Babur had come from Kabul.

If I am not wrong, his grave is also in Kabul.

Babur is from Kabul, so his step brother also must be from Kabul !!!

This was my way of thinking.....

As usual I was  wrong ........!!!!!

Babur is from Kabul.  But his son Humayun had a child named Mirza Hakim in Kabul.

He ruled Kabul.

Mirza Hakim is the son of Humayun.

That means         He is the half brother of Akbar    !!!!!

Correct answer is          AKBAR.

ಶಿವನೇಕೆ ಮೈ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಸ್ಮ ಬಳಿದು ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ?

 ಇವತ್ತು ಮಹಾ ಶಿವರಾತ್ರಿ.  ಅದರ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ನನ್ನ ಅಂಕಣ.

ಬಹಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಧದೀಚಿ  ಎಂಬ ಮುನಿ ದೇವೆತೆಗಳ ಪ್ರೀತ್ಯರ್ಥ ಒಂದು ಯಜ್ಞ ಮಾಡಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ.

ಆದರೆ ಶಕ್ತಿಶಾಲಿಯಾದ ಆ ಯಜ್ಞ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡ ವನ್ನೇ ಅಲುಗಾಡಿಸಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿತು.

ಇದರಿಂದ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಭಯಭೀತಾರಾಗಿ ಆ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಗೆಡುವ ಲು ನೋಡಿದರು.

ಆದರೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅದರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಸುಳಿಯಲೂ ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಶಿವ ಭೈರವನ ರೂಪ ತಾಳಿ ಯಜ್ಞದ ಸುತ್ತಾ ನರ್ತಿಸಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದ.

ಕೆಲವೇ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞವು ಬೂದಿಯಿಂದ ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಹೋಯಿತು.

ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಕಾರಣವೇನೆಂದು ದೇವೆತೆಗಳು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಶಿವ ಹೇಳಿದ, ಯಜ್ಞದ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೇ 

ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಅಹಂಕಾರದ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗಿತು.

ಇದರ ದ್ಯೋತಕವಾಗಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಅಹಂಕಾರದ ನಾಶ ಮತ್ತು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯ ಸೂಚಕವಾಗಿ ಶಿವನು ಆ ಯಜ್ಞದ ಬೂದಿಯನ್ನು ಮೈಗೆ ಬಳಿದುಕೊಂಡ.

ಇದು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದರ ನಾಶ ದ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಜುಮಾದಿಯ ಜನನ

 ತುಳುನಾಡು ದೈವಗಳ ಆರಾಧನೆ ಗೆ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಪಂಜುರ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬೈಕಲ್ದಿ ಎಂಬ ದೈವಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.

ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಹೊರಟಿರುವುದು ಬಿಲ್ಲವ ಸಮುದಾಯದವರು ಪೂಜಿಸುವ ಜುಮಾದಿ ಎಂಬ ದೈವದ ಕುರಿತು.

ಧೂಮಾಸುರ ಎಂಬ ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ಲೋಕ ಕಂಟಕ ನಾಗಿದ್ದ . ಆತ ಒಬ್ಬ ನರ ಭಕ್ಷಕನಾಗಿದ್ದ.

ಆತನಿಗೆ ಪುರುಷನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳೆಯೂ ಏಕಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಿರುವ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಯಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಸಾವು ಎಂಬ ವರವಿತ್ತು 

ಭಕ್ತರೆಲ್ಲ ರಾಕ್ಷಸನಿಂದ ಪಾರು ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಶಿವ ಪಾರ್ವತಿ ಯರ ಮೊರೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ 

ಅದರಂತೆ ಅವರು ಭೂಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಮಧ್ಯ ಪಾರ್ವತಿಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಹಸಿವಾಯಿತು 

ಪಾರ್ವತಿಯ ಹಸಿವನ್ನು ತಣಿಸುವ ಶಿವನ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ವಿಫಲವಾದವು 

ಸೋತು ಕೈ ಚೆಲ್ಲಿದ ಶಿವ ತನ್ನನ್ನೇ ತಿನ್ನುವಂತೆ ಪಾರ್ವತಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ

ಅದರಂತೆ ಪಾರ್ವತಿ ಶಿವನನ್ನು ನುಂಗಲು ನೋಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ

ಆದರೆ ಶಿವ ಅವಳ ಗಂಟಲಿನಿಂದ ಆಚೆ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ..

ಈ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾರ್ವತಿ ಯರು ಒಂದೇ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖವು ಗಂಡಸಿನದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ದೇಹವು ಹೆಂಗಸಿನದ್ದು.

ಅದುವೇ ಜುಮಾದಿ.

ಈ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಧೂಮಾಸುರ ನ ಸಂಹಾರವಾಗಿ ನಂತರ ಜುಮಾದಿ ಶಿವಗಣ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

Why did Ashwattama killed upapandavas ??

 On the last day of Kurukshetra war, Kouravas were defeated.

Ashwattama had gone to the meet Duryodhana who was injured and was hiding in the lake. 

Ashwattama was very disturbed after meeting Duryodhana and vowed to kill Pandavas. 

But in the darkness of night, he killed upapandavas who were the children of Pandavas.

But the death of upapandavas were predecided. 

We know King Satya Harischandra who was famous for his truthfulness.

As Sage Vishwamitra was testing his truthfulness,  Harischandra gave up his kingdom and left with his wife and son.

But the 5 deities who were the guardian of kingdom, were unhappy with this and questioned the Sage. 

Vishwamitra was enraged by this and cursed the deities to born as mortals. 

But when deities pleaded for forgiveness, Vishwamitra said deities would be released of the curse before forming any attachments that would reduce their status and sanctity.

These 5 deities were the upapandavas. 

Koun Banega Karodpati question

 This question was asked on Koun Banega Karodpati program recently.

Question

Who is the supreme commander of Pandavas 'army in Kurukshetra war?

1. Yudhishtira

2.  Lord Krishna 

3.  Dhrishtadrumnya

4. Abhimanyu

When I was watching, I saw the word " supreme".

For God only, we say supreme. 

I thought Lord Krishna must be the answer. 

But Krishna himself had clarified that he will not be the part of war. 

The contestant took the life line of audience poll.

Audience gave 50% vote to both Dhrishtadrumnya and Lord Krishna.

Contestant was still confused. 

She took one more life line of video call a friend.

After listening to the question, friend said he is not sure between Lord Krishna and dhrishtadrumnya. 

Now it is all upto contestant. 

She was confident that Lord Krishna could not be the answer. 

As everyone had voted for Dhriipshtadrumnya, she selected  Dhrishtadrumnya.

This answer is correct. 

Dhrishtadrumnya is also the brother of Draupadi. 

Ganesh and his mother Goddess Parvati

 Today is Ganesh Chaturthy. I have come with a story from the childhood of God Ganesh. 

God Ganesh was a very naughty child.

Once he saw a cat nearby playing. 

He caught the cat and started teasing it cruelly by pulling its tail. 

The cat meowed in pain. 

After some time,  Ganesh let go of the cat and came to his house. 

On reaching home, he saw his mother Goddess Parvati in pain and she was hurt. 

Ganesh rushed near his mother and asked her what happened ??

That time,  Goddess Parvati said  it was she, in the form of cat, playing with  him !!!

Ganesh was shameful for his actions regarding the cat, that caused his mother so much pain. 

Ganesh promised his mother that he will never hurt animals again ...... 

Raksha Bandhan story in Hindu mythology

Today is  Raksha Bandhan day.

Today a sister will tie a rakhi around the wrist of her brother. 

Brother gives a gift to her saying that he will take care of her. 

This tradition is ongoing from ancient times. 

We know about Vamana and Bali.

King Bali though a demon, he was the ardent follower of God Vishnu.. 

God Vishnu took the form of Vamana and pushed Bali to patala loka. 

But Bali requested God Vishnu to be with him always. 

How can God reject his ardent follower's wish ????

So God Vishnu was staying with Bali as his security guard. 

But there was a chaos created in the universe in the absence of God Vishnu. 

That time, Goddess Lakshmi who  is the wife of God Vishnu , came near Bali disguised as a poor girl .

She tied the  rakhi around the wrist of Bali.

Bali asked her what she want as the gift ?? 

That time Goddess Lakshmi asked for her husband God Vishnu. 

Bali without saying anything, released God Vishnu. 

Serpents in Hindu mythology

 Today is Nagara Panchami Festival.

In Hindu mythology, below said serpent beings, often depicted with human and snake like features.

They are revered as powerful entities. 

Such  serpents are - - - -

1.  Shesha or Ananta  - - -   King of all serpents

2.  Vasuki    - - -  Churning of milk ocean

3.  Takshaka   - - -  King of all Naga

4. Manasa   - - -   Goddess of serpents

Bheem , a true devotee

 Once Yudhisthira was practicing a fast .

At the end of day of the fast , he wanted to invite Shri Krishna for the ceremony.

But it would take atleast a week to go to Dwaraka and to invite him .

But tomorrow itself is the day to end the fast .

Yudhisthira was worried . He wanted Shri Krishna to attend the function but now there is no time to inform him also  !!!

By watching his brother worried , Bheem asked for the reason .

When Yudhisthira explained the situation , Bheem asked him not to worry and he himself will invite Shri Krishna for tomorrow's function .

Yudhisthira could not sleep during night thinking about tomorrow.

He wanted to talk with Bheem .

He thought Bhim might have gone to Dwaraka somehow.

But Yudhisthira was shocked to see Bheem in his room having a sound sleep  !!!!

Yudhisthira went inside the room and tried to wake up Bheem.

Bheem assured his brother that by morning Shri Krishna would be here  !!!

Next day morning , Bheem in a relaxed mood completed all of his daily chores. !!!

Yudhisthira was getting anxious as the time was nearing for the ceremony.

Seeing relaxed Bheem , Yudhisthira shouted at him for not being able to call Shri Krishna.

Bheem came infront of the house.

He folded his hands and bowed his head down.

He prayed to God  Shri Krishna that if god is really pleased with his prayers , then Shri Krishna must come near him right now  !!!

How can God neglect the prayer of a true devotee ???

Very next moment ,. Shri Krishna was present infront of Bheem .

That much was the strength of devotion of Bheem .

Quarrel between Goddess es.....

 Once Goddess Laxmi visited Satyaloka  which is the house of Goddess Saraswati.

When Laxmi visited the place, Saraswati was playing her veena.

Saraswati welcomed Laxmi and said, 

After a long time, both of them are meeting with each other. 

But Laxmi was in a hurry. 

She said, " I ( money ) don't have time for all these.  In earth, many people are waiting for my arrival. "

Listening to that, Saraswati said "  With just money, people can't survive. What is the use of money, if people don't know how to spend it  ?? Knowledge is important than money. "

Both the Goddesses were quarrelling saying that money or knowledge is important in life. 

Finally, both of them decided to ask God Vishnu to settle down their quarrel .

Both  of them reached Vaikuntha which is the house of Vishnu and Laxmi.

Laxmi directly went inside and sat down on heart of Vishnu 

Vishnu was in yoga nidra. Goddess Ganga was sitting near his feet. 

Goddess Saraswati was furious. She was upset as Goddess Laxmi didn't show her the place to sit. 

Goddess Ganga tried to intervene in their quarrel. 

Angry Goddess Saraswati cursed Laxmi to born as a tulasi plant on earth.

Also she cursed Goddess Ganga to be a river on earth. 

In return, Goddess Laxmi cursed Goddess Saraswati to be a river which is always flooded.

Even though, all the goddesses are quarrelling, Vishnu was in yoga nidra. 

It was all pre planned by God Vishnu for the well being of world   !!!! 

Story of BhimaShankar jyotirling

Today is Maha Shivaratri.  So I am writing about Shiva temple.

We all know about BhimaShankar jyotirling .

It is among the 12 jyotirling temples of India .

Bhima of Bhima Shamkar is not the Bhima of Mahabharata  !!!!

This Bhima is of Ramayana times .

We all know about Kumbhakarna , brother of Ravana .

Kumbhakarna had a wife by the name Karkadi.

Bhima is the son of Kumbhakarna and Karkadi.

But when Karkadi came to know about death of Kumbhakarna from gods   , she hid her son from everyone.

When Bhima grew up  , he came to know about death of his father from gods , he developed hatredness against gods.

He performed austerities regarding God Brahma to please him.

God Brahma had to give him boons .

But after getting the boons he started troubling everyone such that he declared himself as God  !!!!

He asked everyone  to worship only him .

But there was a King who was the ardent follower of God Shiva .

Bhima came near him when he was worshipping God Shiva .

Enraged by this , Bhima asked the king to stop worshiping other God than him .

But king didn't listen and continued .

Angry Bhima tried to damage the shivling by his sword .

That time God Shiva himself stood infront of him and killed him for his evil works .

King prayed God Shiva to stay in the shivaling and to bless the devotees .

God Shiva agreed and from that time onwards, the place and also the shivaling were known as BhimaShankar .

Why Dhritarashtra was born as blind ??

 We all know Dhritarashtra of Mahabharata.

He was the king of Hastinapur.

He had 101 children who were known as Kouravas.

He was born as blind. Knowing his disability after marriage, his wife Gandhari decided to sacrifice everything, which her husband can not enjoy and blindfolded herself permanently.

But why Dhritarashtra was born as blind by birth  ??

Around 100 births before he born as Dhritarashtra, he was a hunter.

Hunter's main job was to catch the birds alive or dead and to sell them.

He was earning good money from this profession. 

One day in the forest, he saw a tree inhabited by hundreds of birds.

As it was their reproduction time, many of them had built their nests and some have welcomed the new born babies. 

The babies were so small that they didn't open their eyes also.

Hunter made a note of all these. 

To acquire more money, in greediness hunter put the fire around the tree. 

Many of the birds and their offspring died there itself as smoke engulfed them.

Hunter was watching all these and he didn't repent for what he has done.

KARMA HAUNTS.........

As a result, hunter was reborn as Dhritarashtra.

He was blind by birth. 

As the punishment for his bad works in his previous birth, he has witnessed the death of his 100 sons too. 

Mother take care of everyone

  It was the time of Ramayana.

Ravana had kidnapped Sita Mata and he kept her in Lanka's Ashokvan.

Sita didn't have anything, neither food nor water. 

She was always worried about her husband Sri Rama and brother in law Lakshmana.

Seeing her deteriorating condition, King of heaven God Indra decided to help her.

He came down to earth with special payasa.

The speciality of the payasa is that whoever consumes it, they will not feel hungry or thirsty.

Indra came near Sita and presented her the payasa. 

But Sita was suspicious about Indra as she had never seen him before. 

She thought it to be the black magic of Ravana. 

Ravana had kidnapped Sita disguised himself as a sadhu. 

Sita was not in the mood of believing anyone as she is staying in the captivity of Rakshasas. 

But Indra produced some of the evidences  that only angels would have. 

Finally Indra was successful in making Sita to believe that he is really the friend of Shri Ram. 

Indra presented Sita, the payasa. 

But Sita refused to accept it. 

She said, 

How can I take it when my husband and brother in law are suffering from hunger and being thirsty ?? 

Sita didn't accept the payasa though she herself is suffering from hunger and being thirsty. 

Finally God Indra made both Sri Rama and Lakshmana free of hunger and being thirsty. 

Sita made sure that her husband and brother in law are really free of hunger. 

Only then she agreed to have payasa. 

That is a mother. 

She always thinks about others more than herself. 

Love story of Parijata

 Parijata or Night Jasmine is a flower which blooms at night.

It is also called Deva Pushpa means flower from heaven.

According to Hindu  mythology , this flower or tree originated during Samudra Mathana .

King of heaven Indra had this tree and Shri Krishna had brought this tree from heaven.

But I am telling a love story of a princess named Parijata and Sun .

Princess Parijata started to love Sun.

Everyone warned her about heat of Sun but she didn't listen to anyone.

Even Sun himself tried to convince her. But she was adamant and then Sun also started loving her. 

They were made for each other. 

Sun came to earth to live with his love, Parijata. 

Without Sun, whole world has come to standstill. 

All the heavenly bodies are successful in convincing Sun to return to his work. 

Parijata too followed him but she was burnt alive by the heat of Sun. 

Sun was devastated by watching his love in ashes. 

He requested the heavenly bodies to make Parijata to live again. 

Heavenly bodies made a tree to born out of the ashes. 

That tree is Parijata tree.  The flowers of the tree bloom during night and they fall to ground as soon as the Sun rises in the east. 

It is a remembrance of Princess Parijata and her love towards Sun and also her sacrifice. 

Why did Nandi cursed Ravana ?

 Ravana and Kubera are step brothers.

Once Ravana defeated Kubera in the fight. He looted Alakanagari where Kubera resides.

After all this, Ravana was flying back to Lanka in his Pushpaka Vimana. Pushpaka Vimana was stuck at a place.

Ravana was unable to move it what all he tried to. 

Ravana got down from Pushpaka Vimana and  spotted Nandi standing as a guard.

Ravana went near Nandi and asked him why is he unable to fly across this place ?

That time Nandi replied This is Kailash where divine couple God Shiva and Goddess Parvati reside.

Enraged by this, Nandi cursed Ravana that monkeys will destroy you in future.
