Tulu proverb
Kooli ittaanda kadle ijji. kadle ittaanda kooli ijji.
ಕೂಳಿ ಇತ್ತಾಂಡ ಕಡ್ಲೆ ಇಜ್ಜಿ . ಕಡ್ಲೆ ಇತ್ತಾಂಡ ಕೂಳಿ ಇಜ್ಜಿ .
Translation -
kooli = ಕೂಳಿ = teeth
ittaanda = ಇತ್ತಾಂಡ = is there
kadle = ಕಡ್ಲೆ = ground nut
ijji = ಇಜ್ಜಿ = is not there
Meaning --
This proverb is similar to proverb of Kannada.
It states that if we have teeth, at that time we dont get ground nuts to eat. When we have ground nut with us, we dont have teeth itself !
When we have opportunity , at that time we are not willing to do work. When we are willing to do work , that time we dont have opportunity. It is the paradox of life.
