Koun Banega Karodpati question

 In the recent episode of Koun Banega Karodpati program, this question was asked.

Which animal can communicate with others like humans?

This question made me to think. 

Animals too communicate with each other. 

We humans talk with each other. 

But animals don't talk, but they pass signal. 

Elephants communicate with each other. 

But how do they pass the message to a perticular companion??

 

A elephant produces a sound which is unique to that perticular elephant in the group. 

Like this, elephants pass warning and signal. 

Elephants have developed separate sounds for each other animal in the group. 

When an elephant produces a sound, that would be unique for that perticular elephant. 

Like this, elephants speak with each other. 

Animals with remarkable abilities

These animals have an unique talent that sets them apart. These abilities are fascinating and crucial for their survival.

Differences between North Pole and South Pole

 North Pole and South Pole lie at opposite extremes of our planet.

I have listed down the differences between the two.

North Pole 

              1. It is in Arctic ocean.

              2.  It is having floating ice type.

              3.  It is comparatively warmer.

               4.  Polar bears, seals and birds are  the wild life.

                5. It experiences 6 months of daylight in summer.

South Pole 

                1.  It is in Antarctica.

 Friend of Mulla Naseeruddin came near him and asked him to to help him finding his donkey as he lost it.

Naseeruddin replied , I will definitely help you. But tell me one thing.

Did you lose the donkey or

Did the donkey lose you  ???!!

Friend didn't know what to say ??

Naseeruddin explained...... 

If you lost the donkey, we will search for it. 

But if donkey lost you, then donkey will find its way to home   !!!!

Only tax free state in India

 In India, individuals whose income falls under the taxable bracket, are required to pay income tax.

There exists a state in India where residents, even if they earn crores, do not have to pay income tax  !!!!!

Surprised  ????!!?

But it is true. 

Sikkim is the only state where residents do not pay income tax on their earnings.

But why is it so  ????

In 1975, Sikkim was merged with India. 

The merger was based on the condition that Sikkim would retain its old laws and special status.

Indian constitution itself excludes Sikkim residents from the purview of income tax. 

Animal giving black milk

 We all use and drink milk.

All mammals give  milk.  But the milk is not for us  !!!!

Animals produce milk so that they can feed their offspring.

We greedy humans,  snatch this milk 

Most of the animals give milk in white colour.  There are other animals giving milk in purple, pink and yellow colour.

But I am talking about an animal which gives black colour milk !!!

Humans dare not to drink this milk still  !!!!

The black milk is given by

Muddu Krishna competition

 Today is Shri Krishna janmashtami.

  

In my place, Krishna janmashtami is a big festival. 

Various competitions being held.  Out of these, muddu Krishna competition for children is my favourite.

In Udupi,  we can see the idol of Bala Krishna. Means Krishna at his very young age.

Even the competitions will be there for the children.  For women also, there are different competitions..

As I said muddu Krishna competition is for children.

Competition is being held for children of different age groups. 

I always watch the category of children of 1 to 3 years. 

At this age,  children just have started to walk independently.   They are full of innocence.

Though the competition named as muddu Krishna, it is not mandatory that contestant should be a boy.

Moreover, always girls outsmart boys here   !!!!

I am writing about 3 incidents where I could not control my laughter. 

1.   Mother is  bringing the child to the stage. 

       Child is dressed exactly like Bala Krishna, wearing crown and holding flute on the hand  !!!! 

           Mother made the child to sit at the centre of the stage and then left the stage 

          

            Krishna looked at everyone gathered  !!!! 

             Without wasting a second, Krishna followed his mother to side stage   !!!! 

2.   We all know that bala Krishna is fond of butter.. 

       To mimic that,  mothers bring vanilla ice cream in the pot. 

        This Krishna already is tasting the butter  !!!! 

         When Krishna came on stage, he was busy eating the butter and did not care for anyone. 

         Krishna was holding the pot full of butter.... His face is already decorated with butter !!!! 

         Krishna is licking the butter traces on his hand  !!!! 

3.  We all know that Krishna is fond of dancing. 

       This Krishna is also shaking his body to the sound of the drum  not to the audio being played  !!!! 

How do dolphins and whales sleep in the water without drowning ??

 We know marine mammals like dolphins sleep in water as they are swimming in water !!!!

How it is possible?

These marine mammals often engage in the pattern of sleep called  uni hemisphereic slow wave sleep.

This state of the sleep allows one hemisphere of their brain to rest while the other remains partially active.

This enables them to control essential functions such as breathing and maintaining awareness of their surroundings. 

Marine mammals like whales exhibit surface resting behaviour. 

During this time, they close their one eye to protect from environment while keeping the other eye open to monitor the surrounding. 

Dolphins engage in social resting behaviour where they form groups and take turns  sleeping while others keep watch. 

They often take short power naps which lasts only a few minutes.

                 Earth is not perfectly round. It bulges at equator and flatten at the poles. This is because of rotation.

                    Moon is moving away from the earth by 4 cm each year. This is because of tidal force.

                         Magnetic north pole of earth is shifting towards Siberia from Canada.

                        Atacama desert is known as driest place on earth.

                           Often  referred as third pole, Tibetan Plateau stores a massive amount of fresh water.

Bright spots on Ceres, dwarf planet

 Ceres is a dwarf planet. This is a large dwarf planet situated in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. 

Most of the bright spots are spotted in a crater on Ceres.

These bright spots are primarily composed of sodium carbonate, which is a type of salt.

The spots are believed to be formed by evaporation of brine  (  sodium carbonate ) seeping out from the interior of the dwarf planet.

These spots are highly reflective and stood out from surrounding dark terrain.

The presence of the bright spots suggests volconos on Ceres spouting brine.

Some of these bright spots are recent, suggesting that Ceres is geologically active.

This indicates that Ceres must be having subsurface brine ocean.

It suggests that Ceres must have been habitable to micro organism in the past.

 This bheja fry question I heard on TV.

A chicken costs Rs 10.

A honeybee costs Rs 30.

A spider costs Rs 40.

How much does a cat cost ???

To be honest, I thought it is Rs 20  !!!!

Because only 20 was missing..... 

10, 30, 40 were already there  !!!!!

And it is the right answer  !!!!!

But mine was a guess work..... 

Actual logic is

A chicken has 2 legs. Cost is Rs 10.

A honeybee has 6 legs. Cost is Rs 30.

A spider has 8 legs,. Cost is Rs 40.

This means each leg costs Rs 5.... 

We all know that a cat has 4 legs.......

According to logic, 

Cat must cost  5   ×  4    =   20  Rs.    !!!!

What is the 100th day of the year ????

Answer 

Don't go in search of the calendar to calculate 100 days from number 1 as I did !!!

This calculation can be done in the mind. 

I will explain  how...... 

Take the year as a non leap year. 

There are 31 days in the month of January. 

There are 28 days in the month of February. 

There are 31 days in the month of March. 

By adding these 3, we get

31    +     28      +      31      =      90

So we have got 90 days at the end of March month. 

Question was asked for 100 days. 

So in the month of April, 10 more days are required. 

That means 100th day of the year is        April 10.

If the year is a leap year, then 100th day is      April   11.

Today is  Raksha Bandhan day.

Today a sister will tie a rakhi around the wrist of her brother. 

Brother gives a gift to her saying that he will take care of her. 

This tradition is ongoing from ancient times. 

We know about Vamana and Bali.

King Bali though a demon, he was the ardent follower of God Vishnu.. 

God Vishnu took the form of Vamana and pushed Bali to patala loka. 

But Bali requested God Vishnu to be with him always. 

How can God reject his ardent follower's wish ????

So God Vishnu was staying with Bali as his security guard. 

But there was a chaos created in the universe in the absence of God Vishnu. 

That time, Goddess Lakshmi who  is the wife of God Vishnu , came near Bali disguised as a poor girl .

She tied the  rakhi around the wrist of Bali.

Bali asked her what she want as the gift ?? 

That time Goddess Lakshmi asked for her husband God Vishnu. 

Bali without saying anything, released God Vishnu.

Why is house rent agreement only for 11 months ??

 In our country, many people go to other cities in search of job.

At that time,  they will opt for rented house.

Because they will not be sure of future.  Who knows if they go for the job in some other city ??

That's why people go for rental houses.

But  when we decide to go for a rental house, the landlord will prepare an agreement.

In the agreement, terms and conditions would be notified. 

This agreement is only for 11 months.  Why ???

According to registration bill  1908,  we must register the property if we are using it for 1 year or more.

Registering a property means going to sub registrar's office and indulge in legal activities.

This process is time consuming........

That's why rental agreement is done only for 11 months. 

Don't give up !!

Two frogs were staying in the garden of a house.

One morning the lady of the house forgot to shut down the window and the frogs entered the kitchen.

Lady had taken out the milk with cream so as to churn milk later .

Frogs thought that milk as the big white lake and just jumped into the milk.

But it was not water as they thought and they were trying to come out 

Both of them were moving their legs vigorously.

But it is of no use and both of them are getting tired.

First frog gave up as it is fully tired and sank down in milk.

But second frog didn't give up and though it is tired  , it continued moving its legs

Though it is also tired , it continued moving its legs.

Because of that movement. , churning of milk took place and butter started to form.

Second frog slowly climbed up the butter and jumped to the outside.

MORAL : Don't give up trying. 

Kids are always kids !!!!

 My nephew Aniruddha is a master in playing chess.

He has attended interschool chess competition for CBSE schools of south division and has won the prize too  !!!!

I decided to learn some techniques used in chess. 

Though he has taught me many techniques that can be used in chess, I clearly understood only one !!!!

That is                                     castling.........

We know in chess, only one piece can be moved at a time.

The pieces used in chess are - - - - - - - -

Rook        Knight       Bishop    Queen       King      Pawns

Rook can move either vertical or horizontal. 

Knights can jump over other pieces and moves in  L   shape. 

Bishops always move diagonally. 

Queen is the strongest piece and it can move in all possible directions.

King is the weakest of the pieces and can move only one step. 

Why do we do castling ??

Castling plays an important role in the opening stage of game.

It moves the king to safety away from the centre files of the board.

It moves the rook to a more active position. 

But to do castling, some conditions have to be met. 

1. Neither the king nor the rook has previously moved.

2. There are no pieces between the king and rook.

3. The king is not currently in check.

4. The king does not pass through or finish on a square that is attacked

 by the enemy piece.

Here king can move 2 places either to its left or right   !!!!!

 Recently I came across this question.

How can one walk on the river water ????

Everyone knows that it is impossible to walk on river water for humans. 

But question is asked in affirmation tone. 

That means it is possible to walk on river water !!!!

But how.??

 This needs out of the box thinking.

Usually river water is liquid in state and we can not walk. 

What if the river water gets freeze  ???!!!

That time we can definitely walk on solid river water without any problem. 

We can observe this phenomenon in winter of cold countries where

 temperatures dips below zero degrees  !!!!

Sleep paralysis

 Sleep paralysis is the temporary inability to move or speak while falling asleep or waking up.

Sleep paralysis most affects the people with sleep apnoea but it can affect anyone.

This lasts for one or two minutes. But is frightening. 

It is not dangerous but causes emotional distress. 

The main treatment is  improved sleep cycle,  going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time.

 Once Mulla Naseeruddin was invited by a rich friend to his house to have a feast.

As they  sat down to eat, rich friend asked Naseeruddin,

Have you ever seen a huge feast like this, in your life ???? 

Naseeruddin had a good look around the hall and said,  Yes  !!!

Beaches that glow in the dark

 There are several beaches where sea appears to glow in the dark.

This is called   bioluminescense.

It is caused by living organisms like bacteria, fungi, algae, insects or insects and aquatic animals. 

It is a type of chemical reaction that occurs within these organisms. 

Here chemical energy is converted into radiant energy thereby producing light. 

In India also, we can observe this phenomenon in several beaches.

Double dwarf planets

 In our solar system , we have many dwarf planets.

I am talking about a celestial body which was once called planet but now it is a dwarf planet.

It is none other than   Pluto  !!!

Though Pluto is a dwarf planet, it has 5 moons  !!!

Largest of them is    Charon.

The same surfaces of Pluto and Charon always face each other.

This is called  mutual tidal locking.

These two are the double dwarf planets.

Some people eat flesh of wild animals, cockroch, birds and even snakes  !!!!

Recently I read that Japanese government has deployed a giant ship to hunt for blue whales. 

In the ship itself,there will be storage devices as to conserve the whale and they will dispatch it cutting into pieces  !!!!!

Non Aquatic animals that can hold their breath longest underwater

 1.  Hippopotamus

                   Hippopotamus spend a lot of time in water but they can remain submerged in water only for 5 minutes at a time.

2.  Beaver

                   Beaver can hold its breath for 15 minutes while submerged.

3.  Polar bear

                     Polar bears can hold their breath for around 2 minutes while submerged.

4.  Elephants

                      Elephants can hold their breath for upto 2 hours.

5.  Rats

                       Rats ca hold their breath for 3 minutes under water.

 ಇವತ್ತಿಂದ ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಮಾಸ ಆರಂಭ.

ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಮಾಸ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳ ಮಾಸ. ಈ ಮಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ  ಮನೆಯ ಹಿರಿಯರು ನಾನ್ ವೆಜ್ ತಿನ್ನಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.  ಏಕೆ ???

ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಮಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಂಸಾ ಹಾರ ಸೇವಿಸಿದರೆ ದೇವರ ಪೂಜೆಗೆ ಅಶುದ್ದಿ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ನಂಬಿಕೆ.

ಆದರೆ ಇದು ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕವಾಗಿಯೂ ಸತ್ಯ  !!!!

ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಮಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆಯೂ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ.  ಅಂದರೆ ಬಿಸಿಲಿನ ಅಭಾವ. ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೆಳಕಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀರ್ಣ ಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಚುರುಕಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಇದರಿಂದ ಮಾಂಸ ದಂತಹ ಕಠಿಣ ಪದಾರ್ಥ ವನ್ನು ದೇಹ ಜೀರ್ಣಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟ.

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮಾಂಸ ತಿನ್ನುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಲುಷಿತವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ.  ಇದೇ  ನೀರಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಲಂಬಿತ ಆಗಿರುವ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ರೀತಿಯ ಖಾಯಿಲೆ ಗಳು  ಇರಬಹುದು.

ಮಳೆಗಾಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಮೀನುಗಳ ಸಂತಾನೋತ್ಪತ್ತಿ ಕಾಲ.   ಈ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಮೀನು ಹಿಡಿದು ತಿಂದರೆ ಅವುಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಇದರಿಂದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ಲಯ ತಪ್ಪಬಹುದು 

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೀನು ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಂಸ ಸೇವಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

Why apples and oranges have sticker on them ??

 We often see fruits like apples and oranges are sold with a sticker on them.

Many of us think that the fruits with stickers on them are of premium quality and they are imported from foreign countries. 

But it is not true  !!!!! 

These stickers are related to our health. 

If the sticker has 4 digit number  and number starts from 4 like 4026 or 4987, then we have to be careful. 

Because these type of fruits are grown using fertiliser and insecticides.

We can get these fruits at low price.  But they do more harm than benefits.

If the sticker has 5 digit number and it starts from 8, then it means that fruits are not naturally grown.

They are lab grown. 

Consumption of these fruits give beneficial as well as harmful results. 

Good quality fruits have 5 digit number and number starts from 9.

This means fruits are grown without using pesticides and fertilisers. 

Obviously, these fruits are costly. 

Animals that reproduce every month

 1.  Rabbits

                    Female rabbits can become pregnant again just days after giving birth !!!

                   They reproduce every month. 

2.  House mice

                  House mice can become pregnant shortly after giving birth, leading to multiple glitters.

3.  Rats

                  Similar to mice, rats can reproduce frequently.

4.  Guinea pigs

                    Similar to mice.

5.  Mosquitoes

                     Female mosquitoes lays eggs every few days depending on availability of blood meals.

6.  Fleas 

                      Fleas can lay eggs continuously producing large number of offs.

7.  Cockroches 

                Cockroches can reproduce quickly.  They produce egg shells containing multiple eggs.

Relatives of donkey

 One day , Mulla Naseeruddin loaded a heavy bag of vegetables on the back of his donkey and set out for the market to sell them.

But already tired donkey didn't put a step forward  !!!

Naseeruddin tried to persuade the donkey . But when it got failed , he started to beat the animal

Soon many people gathered around them and started abusing Naseeruddin.

One of them said , How can you beat a speechless animal  ??

Another one said , Naseeruddin must be punished for beating the animal .

Naseeruddin listened to everything that people are saying .

Naseeruddin went near the donkey and said, If I would have known that you have these many relatives , I would not dared to beat you up  !!!!

Listening to that, gathered people soon vacated the place  !!!! 

Albino animals

 Albino animals have a genetic mutation that affects melanin production.

They are not white, just colourless. 

Albino animals are rare. 

Lack of melanin makes the blood veins visible and eyes appear red or pink.

Because of this they are the easy targets for predators. 

Albino animals are sensitive to sunlight and have poor eye sight. 

Albinism affects mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and even fish.

We have white tigers

                     White crocodiles             to name a few.
