Udupi Paryaya procession 2026

 Today early in the morning, Udupi Paryaya procession was started.

I always wait for this procession to watch.

This time, the right to worship God Krishna is handed over to Shiroor mutt by Puttige mutt.

For every 2 years, this handing over right amongst the ashtha mathas take place.

The new seer who is going to get the opportunity of worshipping God Krishna comes to Krishna temple from the outskirts of city in a procession.

This is Paryaya procession.

I have listed down what was there in the procession  !!!

1.   A person sitting on robotic huge elephant.  Elephant was decorated as we could see in Kerala   !!!

2.  Persons wearing skeleton type dress walking on long wooden leg. In the darkness of night, it has given the feeling that skeletons are walking by themselves   !!!

3.  Usually in Udupi, we can find 2 tattirayas ( huge human like structure ). But today there were many.

One tattiraya was dressed in formals giving the feel that he is going to office  !!!

4.  Musical band of people dressed as forest people.

5.  Tableau of Punyakoti cow and the tiger.

6.  Tableau of Hanuman bringing Sanjeevani.

7.  Tableau of Goddess Durga slaying demons.

8.  Tableau of Goddess Saraswati

9.  God Krishna lifting the Goverdhan mountain 

10.  Tableau of vishwaroopa darshana

11.  Tableau of Narasimha avatara 

12.  Last but not the least, our own Yakshagana and Hulivesha  !!!
