When this question flashed on TV screen, I remembered USA and Iran which are still fighting in Central Asia !!!
I didn't have any idea about this.
Correct Answer BRITAIN and RUSSIA !!!
The rivalry was between British empire and Russian empire for more than 90 years !!!
Why they fought ??
British were ruling India. They were scared that Russia would come South and attack India through Afghanistan.
At that time, Russia was growing bigger and wanted more land in Asia !!!
In the middle was Afghanistan !!! Both British and Russians wanted to control it as a buffer.
It was NOT A DIRECT WAR !!!
It was spies, explorers, bribing local kings etc.
It got ended in 1907 when both became friends to stop Germany !!!
