 Here  are some of the greatest and largest empires of the world -----

1.  The Persian empire 

                              The Persian empire stretched from modern day Iran into central Asia and Egypt.

2.  China's Han dynasty 

                             Han dynasty period is considered Golden period of China's history.  It has opened famous silk route trade route to Europe.

                             It was the group of central asian nomadic tribes banded together under Genghis Khan. It extended from central asia to central europe and to sea of Japan.

                                This vast Islamic caliphate spanned across 3 continents , south eastern Europe, western asia and northern Africa.

                            It is also known as Catholic monarchy and was existed from 1492  to recent 1976.

                             It spanned northern Eurasia and halted the Napoleon Bonaparte 's conquest of Europe.

8.  British empire         

                        "  The sun never sets on British empire  "  was an apt description of this expansive kingdom. Several former territories remain part of Commonwealth nations.
