Bheja Fry question

 Question

A and B are two stations 390 km apart. One train starts at

 station A  at 10 AM and travels towards B at  65 kmph. Another

 train starts at B at 11 AM and travels towards A at 35 kmph..

 At what time do they meet ??

Answer

Let's represent the time taken by the second train as t hours,

First train leaves one hour before so time taken by first train is t + 1 hours.

We know that distance =  speed  *  time

So,

Distance traveled by first train at 65 kmph is 65  (  t   +  1 )

Similarly distance covered by second train at 35 kmph is 35t hours.

Since they are moving towards each other, distance covered would be added up.

==>>    65  (  t  +  1  )  +   35 t  =  390 km

==>>    65t  +   65 +  35t   =  390

==>>     65t  +   35t   =   390  -   65

==>>    100 t  =  325

==>>  t  =  3.25  hours

Meeting time is  11 am  +  3.25 hours

==>>  11 am  +  3 am  =  2  am

==>>  additional 0.25 hours

==  0.25  × 60  =  15  minutes

==>>   additional 15  minutes

Hence both the train meet at 2.15 pm   !!!
