Is a food product unsafe to eat after expiry date?

 I am talking about food items excluding dairy products.

What happens after the expiry date ??

A food product doesn't instantly transform into something harmful after expiry date  !!!! 

For many non perishable items, the expiry date is more about quality than safety.

A bag of chips may lose its crunch. 

A packet of biscuits might taste a bit stale.

But they won't make us necessarily sick. 

But this is not the same case with perishable items like milk, meat and eggs.

These foods can harbour bacteria that multiply rapidly after the expiry date leading to illness.

So we can take care of expiry date only for perishable food items.
