The modern image of Santa Claus has its roots in legend of Saint Nicholas.
He was known for his generality and kindness.
The name Santa Claus evolved from Dutch nickname " Sinter Klass " which was shortened form of Saint Nicolas in Dutch.
Today Santa Clause is known as Father Christmas.
