Which is the state ??

 This question was asked on Koun Banega Karodpati program.


Question 


Which of these cities is the capital of a state that is not bordered by any coastal state of India ??


1.  Lucknow 

2.  Jaipur

3.  Bhopal 

4.  Raipur 



Answer 


We will look at what are the coastal states of India.


They are      Gujarat ,  Maharashtra,      Goa  ,  Karnataka ,   Kerala ,  Tamilnadu ,  Andhra Pradesh ,  Odisha and West  Bengal.


Now we  analyse the given question.


They are asking for the capital of the state which is not bordered by any of coastal states.


That means they have given the names of capitals of 4 states.


We must find out the capital of a state which is not bordering the coastal states mentioned above.


We will look at one by one.


1.  Raipur 

           Raipur is the capital of Chattisgadh. Bordering states of Chattisgadh are  Odisha,  Jharkhand,  Madhya Pradesh,  Telangana ,  Uttar Pradesh,  Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.


Out of these ,  Odisha ,  Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra are coastal states bordering Chattisgadh.


So,  Raipur  ruled out  !!!




2.  Bhopal 

        Bhopal is the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Bordering states of Madhya Pradesh are   Uttar Pradesh ,  Chattisgadh,  Maharashtra,  Rajasthan and Gujarat.


Out of these,  Maharashtra and Gujarat are coastal states.


So,  Bhopal is ruled out   !!!




3.  Jaipur 

        Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan.  Bordering states of Rajasthan are  Punjab,  Haryana ,   Uttar Pradesh,  Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.


Out of these,  Gujarat is the coastal state.


So,  Jaipur is ruled out.






4.  Lucknow 

               Lucknow is the capital of  Uttar Pradesh.

               

              Bordering   states of Uttar Pradesh are  Uttarakhand,  Himachal Pradesh, Haryana,  Delhi , Rajasthan ,  Bihar,  Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgadh.


Uttar Pradesh don't have any bordering coastal states.


So ,   LUCKNOW which is the capital of Uttar Pradesh is the correct answer    !!!
