Magnetic compasses always point towards Earth's magnetic north.
But there are some places where magnetic compasses stop working.
They are -----
1. Earth's magnetic poles
At magnetic poles, Earth's magnetic field runs almost vertically instead of horizontally.
This makes compass needles to dip downwards. It often spins or points randomly.
2. Bermuda triangle
In this place in Atlantic ocean, compass fails. Here we can observe unusual magnetic variations.
3. Kursk's magnetic anomoly, Russia
In this region, large amounts of iron ore deposits are found. This creates strong local magnetic pull which overpower Earth's natural field.
4. South Atlantic anomoly
In this region, Earth's magnetic field weakens. It also affects satellites and electronic signals.
5. Kerguelen plateau
This underwater volcanic plateau has unusual magnetic properties which distrubs Earth 's magnetic Field.
