Nowadays strait of Hormuz is in news.
It has a very narrow width. Although the width of strait appears to be limited, it carries a significant portion of world's oil exports.
The strait of Hormuz is between 2 nations.
1. Iran ( north coast )
Iran has the entire northern shore of the strait and many islands all of which Iran owns.
Therefore, Iran has significant authority over maritime traffic passing through strait.
2. Oman ( south coast )
Southern coast of Hormuz strait is Oman.
Oman controls southern shore through Musandam peninsula. It is an exclave seperated from rest of Oman from UAE.
3. UAE ( United Arab Emirates )
UAE's coastline is part of immediate geographical corridor.
