Lake of skeletons

 Roopkund Lake situated in Uttaraknand state of India is known as Lake of skeletons.

This is a high altitude lake situated in Himalayas.

Here we can find hundreds of human skeletons lying scattered along its shores and surrounding areas.

The mystery of such huge number of human skeletons at one place has  sparked various theories. Such as

1.  Ancient ritual or sacrifice 

2.  Natural disaster such as hailstorm or landslide.

3.  Epidemic or disease 

4.  Battle or conflict 

Despite extensive research, exact cause is still unknown.
