Which gas is inside airbag ??

Which of these gases causes  airbags to inflate in cars  ??

1.  Nitrogen 

2.  Helium 

3.  Oxygen 

4.  Hydrogen 

Answer 

I had a doubt between nitrogen and helium.

I know nitrogen is an inert gas and helium can be inhaled by humans  !!!

Answer    Nitrogen  !!!

We will look at how airbags work  ......

Inside the airbag module, there is a solid compound called Sodium Azide  NaN2.

When sensors detect a crash, they set off an igniter.

The heat thus produced, makes Sodium Azide to decompose really fast.

It produces a huge amount of nitrogen gas in about 0.03 seconds.

This Nitrogen gas instantly inflates the nylon airbag so we don't bounce off it  !!!

Why Nitrogen gas ??

Nitrogen gas is inert and don't burn. 

It is abundant in air.

Nitrogen gas can be instantly generated from a solid   !!!

So airbags are filled with the same gas that is already around us and can be inhaled.
