Why Uranus is " cold planet " even though Neptune is farthest from Sun ??

 Neptune is farthest from Sun.

Its natural to think that Neptune is the " coldest planet  ".

But in reality, Uranus is much colder than Neptune  .....!!!!

Uranus is 6 degree Celsius colder than Neptune which is farthest from Sun   

Distance matters but internal heat matters most  ....!!!

Neptune is farther from Sun but warmer inside  !!!

Uranus  is a broken furnace, hence colder   ......

Both the planets get almost NO SUN      !!!

But internal heat is the big difference ........

Planets are warm from the heat they made when they are formed .

Neptune still has a lot of internal heat leaking out.   It gives off  2.6 x more heat than it gets from Sun    !!!

Like it has a tiny furnace inside.

Uranus has almost no heat coming out.  It gives off the same heat it gets from Sun.

Basically zero extra   !!!

That's why Uranus is colder than Neptune  .....
