What a match !

By this time, everyone must have realized about which match I am talking about. Yes , I am talking about yesterday's cricket match between India and England . It was a 50 over match.

First , I say what i did yesterday. First I found out who is going to bat first . It was England . So I decided to watch end part of batting of English people just to know the target they are giving India to chase . But by watching the final overs , my head got reeled . Because the target was 350 !

I continued watching ..... India started chasing. Soon ,the score was 63/ 4 ! Target is 350 . I visualized India losing the match. I switched off t.v. .

When I switched on tv , Kohli and Kedar Jadhav were playing . All 6's and 4's. I realised I am missing the action by not watching tv .

Then Hardik Pandya , Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin played superbly . Finally it was Ashwin who finished the match by striking a 6 .

India chased the total of 350 successfully and won the match . I patted my back for taking the right decision to watch the tv at right time !

How do ants smell ?

Wherever we keep sweets , ants will soon find out the location .

Ants have a poor eyesight. They use their antennae to smell and also for communication.

They release a chemical called pheromone which has different smells. This help them to trace their way back , recognizing between friends and foes .

The ant's sensors are located in their antennae. The antennae are covered with hair like structures , which are the receptors for senses.

Once an ant finds a food source , it leave a pheromone tail as it makes its way back to the nest . The other ants will trace the way until the food source is located.

All ants will not use the same pheromone scent to locate the food. The scent is unique for each ant's nest . By this way , other ants from the same nest locate the food.

Example of cruelty

There is a tribal group in America . They live by hunting animals . But here lies a speciality . If they want to hunt wolves , tribals are not going after them , wolves are coming near them . !

How ????

????

?????

First they apply blood of an animal which is already dead , to their swords which are freshly sharpened . After this , they tie the sword to branch of a near by tree .

Now wolves get attracted by the smell of blood . They come in search of source . They see the blood applied sword .

Without thinking , they come near the sword and start licking it . They continue licking , till all the applied blood stains are gone .

But they will not stop . They continue licking . Now , the blood they are tasting is their own ! ( since their tongue gets hurt by licking the sharpened sword ) .

Soon , they start feeling weak by continuos discharge of blood . Finally , they lay flat on the ground .

That time , tribals come out of their hide outs and kill the already weak wolf .

The wolf has invited its own death by itself .

Why does a lamp burns brighter before it dies off ?

This question was inspired by a Tulu saying .

Tulu Saying ---

Tekkuna deepagu bolpu jaasti

ತೆಕ್ಕುನ ದೀಪಗು ಬೊಲ್ಪು ಜಾಸ್ತಿ .

Translation ----

tekkuna deepa = ತೆಕ್ಕುನ ದೀಪ  = lamp which is going to die off / exhaust / blew off
bolpu = ಬೊಲ್ಪು  = light
jaasti = ಜಾಸ್ತಿ  = more

Summary ----

This saying states that the lamp / fire which is about to exhaust / die off gives looks more bright than usual . The light emitting by it is more in brightness compared to early stage.

The scientific explanation goes like this --------

When the fire is in its last stage , it has almost completely consumed the remaining air in its area. Air carries not only oxygen which will act as an oxidising agent , but also moisture.

If the fire is in a stage where there is less air for it to use , then it implies that there are less water droplets ( moisture ) too  .This makes the fire to gain heat .

This heat will energise the electrons . Hotter electrons will emit more light . Hence a lamp burns brighter before it dies off .
