This piece of detective puzzle I heard on online radio.
The phone rang in police station. Inspector was discussing about a
case with the detective.
As soon as the phone rang, inspector stopped his discussion and
went to receive the call.
Inspector after listening to the caller for some time, said he is on
his way. He signalled the detective to come with him.
Detective without asking anything, sat on the police jeep along with
Inspector.
As they were riding, inspector said that he got an anonymous
phone call saying that there is a dead body in the hostel room.
Both inspector and detective reached the hostel room. In the
middle of the room, there was the dead body.
In the hand of the dead body, there was a pistol. It seems like the
dead man has shot himself in the head.
By looking at the site, inspector concluded that its a suicide case.
Detective observed a tape recorder on the table.
He went near it and pressed the play button. It was a man talking.
He was saying that he is bored of his life and committing suicide.
After that, the sound of gun shot was heard.
Then the tape recorder stops. By listening to this, inspector was
now confident that it is a suicide case.
Dead man himself has said that he is ending his life. What else
proof needed?
But the detective said it is a murder and not the suicide.
Inspector didn't understand. Dead man himself has said that he is
committing suicide. There is a pistol in his hand suggesting that
with that weapon itself, death happened.
But detective said suppose it is a suicide thing, who stopped the
tape recorder after the gun shot? After the gun shot, person is
dead. He can not get up and switch off the tape recorder.
That means, there was some one else who forced the dead man
to record the statement and then fired the gun shot and killed
him.
Before leaving, he made sure to switch off the tape recorder.
