Long ago, a farmer was going to another city with his family. They had to pass forest. Since it was getting dark, they decided that they will spend the night in the forest beneath a tree. But farmer was restless since he was not doing any work.
So, he decided that he will  make the rope. To get the materials, he sent his sons to nearby city.  He asked his daughter in laws to help him in doing prelimanary preparation. All agreed and were working on their designated jobs.
A ghost was seeing all these. It could not understand what these people are doing? It came near farmer and asked the reason. Though the farmer is terrified by seeing the ghost, he said that they are preparing the rope so that they can tie the ghost.
Hearing that ghost was scared. It begged farmer to not to do that and it said if he drop his plan, it will give him a bag of gold coins. Farmer agreed and went back to his village with money. This incident soon became well known and one of his neighbours decided to follow the same plan.
He went to forest with his family to forest and sat to make the rope. But his sons and daughter in laws didnt accompany him.  Ghost as usual came down and asked what is he doing? Neighbour said that he is preparing rope so that he can tie ghost.
Listening to that, ghost started laughing and said its better to tie his own sons and daughter in laws since they are not listening to him.

                                Ekalavya after giving Gurudakshina

We all know that Ekalavya was practising archery alone. He wanted to learn it from Dronacharya. He met Drona and expressed his wish. But Drona refused to teach him since Drona is branded as master who teaches archery to princes.
But Ekalavya came back to forest, made an idol of Drona and started practising archery. Soon he became an expert in archery. When Drona had come for hunting with his students, he met Ekalavya and came to know that he has become expert in archery just by practising himself.
Drona had asked Ekalavya's thumb as gurudakshina . Ekalavya didnt think that after that, he cant get practice in archery. He instataneously gave the gurudakshina by cutting his thumb. But after that, it has become difficult for him to practice archery.
But he continued to practice. Finally ,he joined King Jarasandha's army . He breathed his last when there was a battle between Jarasandha and Shri Krishna. A great maestro's era has ended with that.

That time, in the morning a dog had come infront of Sri Ram's palace and started howling loudly. Sri Ram listened to the sound and asked Laxman to look at matter. Laxman came outside and found that a dog was howling. He asked the dog the reason.
But dog refused to tell the reason with Laxman. It said it want Sri Ram to come and listen to its problems. Laxman tried to convince dog saying that he will inform Sri Ram about its problems, but dog was adamant. Finally Sri Ram had to come.
When Sri Ram came and asked for reason, dog complained that a saint had beaten him. Sri Ram instantly ordered soldiers to produce the saint infront of him. Likewise, saint had come. Sri Ram asked him about the allegation by dog.
Saint agreed that its true. Finally, Sri Ram asked the dog itself, what punishment he would like to give to saint? Dog said saint must be appointed as the chair person of nearby temple. Everyone were surprised. Sri Ram asked for the reason with the dog.
Then dog replied  " I was the chair person of that temple in my last birth. But because of the power I got, I neglected all the works and indulged in my and family's own profit. Hence I have born as dog in this birth. If I didnt neglect my work and didnt indulge in profit of my family , I would not see this day today. I want the saint to suffer the same plight as I had suffered "
Moral: We must not act with our own interests, when we get powers.

He went near King for justice since he got defamed. King called old man and old man replied that he just expressed his opinion about adult and he didnt mean to defame him.
King asked old man to write down all those things that he is thinking about adult. Old man wrote all his thoughts. King asked old man to tear down the paper and throw them outside. Old man did the same. King said that he will give the judgement next day.
Everyone were eager to know the judgement. The D-Day came and King asked old man to bring all those pieces that he had thrown previous day. Old man was very surprised by this and he said it is not possible since pieces have already got dispersed because of air.
Then King said as the pieces can not be retrieved, like that the words spoken by old man regarding adult can not be taken back. Hence King said if we can not say good words about an individual, it is better to keep quiet instead of telling bad things.

The 10th incarnation of God Vishnu

The 10th incarnation of God Vishnu

In Hinduism, it is believed that God Vishnu has taken 10 incarnations so as to protect world . The 10th and last incarnation is called Kalki.
In puranas, the description of Kalki is given. Some people say that the incarnation still didnt happen. But we can find details about that in Hindu Puranas.
According to them, Kalki will be born as the son of VishnuYash and Sumati. We all know that Parashuram is awarded immortality. May be he is present between us. It is believed that Kalki will practice archery near Parashuram. It is also said that he would get horses, sword from the hands of God Shiv by pleasing him. It is also said that Kalki will marry a girl from Srilanka by the name Padmavati.
The main reason for incarnation of Kalki is to put an end to Kaliyug i.e. the present days. Kaliyug has got its name because of Kali who is responsible for all the unjustified activities of present day. Kalki will defeat Kali in battle ,thus putting an end to Kaliyug.

The mouse girl

                                    The mouse girl

Once a man was sitting on the banks of river Ganges. He was having special powers too. That time, a tiny mouse who escaped from the clutches of an eagle while eagle was carrying it, fell on him. Man saw it was a tiny she mouse.
She was beautiful to look. A thought came to his mind to see her as a human being. With his special powers, he transformed the mouse to a girl child. Carrying the child, he came to home and showed her to his wife that god has given them a girl child.

Kaalakeyas

                                                    Kaalakeyas
Kaalakeyas is the name of group of demons who were notorious for their ill works.  They got this name because of their mother Kaalika.
With the help of another demon named Vrutasur , they were giving trouble to saints and also to devas and people. All were fed up of their trouble. They asked the help of God Vishnu.
Their strategy was that they were hiding in the sea during night and were coming out in day time. It had become an impossible job to trace them in the sea during night.
God Vishnu knew that saint Agasthya had the ability to swallow anything. Hence , he requested Agasthya to help in tracing the demons.
Agasthya agreed and likewise, he drank the whole sea water as if he was very thirsty ! Then it was easy to spot the hiding place of Kaalakeyas and devas killed the troublesome demons.

How did Prahlad become the follower of God Vishnu?

How did Prahlad become the follower of God Vishnu?

Prahlad , being the son of demon king Hiranyakashipu , was the follower of God Vishnu.  I often wondered  why so? Now here is the reason.
Kayadu is the mother of Prahlad. She is the wife of demon king Hiranya Kashipu. She was the daughter of demon Jambhasur. but when she was pregnant, king of heaven Indra kidnapped her. When he was taking her away forcibly, Saint Narad saw this.
Narad explained Indra the consequences he may face because of this. Then Indra abondoned her there itself, and fled away. Then Narad took Kayadu near his hut on the banks of river Ganges. There he taught Kayadu how to chant God Vishnu's prayers.
Kayadu continued that. As she was pregnant at that time, the effect was on her unborn child. As a result, her child had become the follower of God Vishnu. That child is Prahlad.

Surprising fact

                                          Surprising fact

In Ireland, if we dug near a filthy mud tank, its not that we get mud . It is actually the butter ! The butter hence got is not contaminated or having any foul smell.
It is perfectly good to use. Now the question comes why people hid butter in an unusual place like tank containing mud?
Scientists have come with the answer too. Long ago, butter was considered precious and luxurious thing. There were battles just to get hold of this butter. To preserve the butter from enemies, people thought butter would be safely protected if they hid butter in a mud tank !
No one will have slightest idea that if they dig a mud tank, they will get butter. But how the butter is fresh since that time till today? The reason is simple. People were mixing garlic juice to butter. Garlic juice because of its antiseptic quality. helped in preserving the butter.
As enemies retrieve without getting anything, people were taking out butter from mud tank and using it. They would be fresh .

Why did SriRam go to forest?

Why did SriRam go to forest?

We all know Ramayan. In Ramayan, Kaikeyi was the person who insisted that Ram must go to forest for 14 years. But there are other reasons behind that.
First of all, Kaikeyi is the daughter of Ashwapati, king of Kashmir. Dasharath, father of Ram met Kaikeyi when he had gone for hunting. He was attracted by her beauty. He asked for her hand with Ashwapati. He agreed for marriage only on condition that Kaikeyi's son must be crowned next heir. Dasharath had agreed for that. But Kaikeyi had become his youngest wife.
Naturally ,the chance to become heir goes to son of eldest wife's son. Dasharath had also got a curse that he must die when his sons are not near him. The curse was given by father of Shravan Kumar. Dasharath had accidentally killed him while hunting. Shravan Kumar's parents were old and he was the only support for them. But now, they have lost him.
In that grief, Dasharath had been given the curse. The final reason is SriRam himself had told Kaikeyi that he is the avatar of God Vishnu and his purpose is to kill the demon king , Ravan. Naturally , it would not be possible if he is in Ayodhya, his home town.
All these factors worked together and Sri Ram went to forest with his wife Sita and his brother Laxman. Kaikeyi is only the reason.

The bitter truth

                                                The bitter truth

There lived 2 friends. One is changing his way into spirituality. One day both were discussing about their opinions. One of them said what we expect is always not true. The other one didnt agree. He said as we see others, others also will treat in same way.
He was saying because he was loving his family very much. His friend realised that and he challenged his friend that he will change his friend's mentality. He gave the friend a tablet and asked him to swallow it after going home. Then he will be in the same condition as a dead man.
But only the difference is he is alive and he can listen to all the sounds happening around him. This way, he can come to know the real picture. The friend who has given tablet will come to see him later that day.Friend agreed and after going home, swallowed tablet.
Now his body has become freezed like a dead body. His wife saw that and started crying. Listening to her, his mother realised what had happened. Even she started crying. Hearing the chaos, whole village gathered around the house.
His mother and wife were crying all the day. That time, other friend disguised himself as a saint came inside house. He said that he will make the dead person alive, if some one else is ready to sacrifice his life. By listening to that all the people quietly went outside.
Now remaining are only his mother and wife. His mother said she has other children also and she has to look after them. She cant sacrifice her life. Remaining one is wife. She said that she would have sacrificed her life but she has small children to look after. Her children now they have lost their father and if she die, they will be orphans. So, even she is not ready.
By listening to the replies of his mother and wife, the dead person suddenly got up and declared that he is still alive and he was acting to know the truth. He has come to know the bitter truth.

Does cat really want milk?

                                            Does cat really want milk?

Most of us have cats as our pets. It is very nice to see a cat drinking milk(not by stealing !). It is very common that cats rub their face against our legs. It looks as though it is expressing its love towards us. But actually, it is doing like that just to make out our body odour. To make out we are the same person that it was familiar with or new one !
Now an adult cat be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian , it doesnt require milk for its nutrition. May be it is drinking milk just to quench its thirst. Sometimes, cats drink water also when they are thirsty.

But on the other side, the picture is entirely different. That king was seen encouraging his soldiers to practice and was busy in making plans. They were practising.
Battle day came. Surprisingly, the king who got the blessing that he will win, actually lost the battle to opponent king . The loser king rushed near saint and complained that his blessings didnt come of any use and he had lost the battle.
Saint smilingly said " I just said that you will win. It is your duty to practice and prepare yourself. But you didnt do that. Your effort is most essential in such case than my words." Listening to that, king understood his folly.
