A kannada idiom meaning

                                       A Kannada idiom meaning

Fox and crow story

                                        Fox and crow story

Story of yester years-----------
A fox was hungry and was wandering here and there for food. That time, it saw a crow flying carrying a piece of bread in its mouth. Crow sat on the nearby tree carrying a piece of bread in its mouth..Fox thought of a quick plan to get hold of that bread ,the crow was carrying.
It came near the tree and started praising the crow like " wow, it is my good luck that I have spotted you. I heard that you sing well. I always wanted to hear your voice. Can you sing a song for me now?" . Listening to that , crow was very happy. It opened its mouth to sing. That time, the bread it was carrying, fell down. Fox was waiting for that and it ran away carrying the fallen bread.

Story of third generation of same animals-----------

A fox was hungry and was wandering here and there for food. That time, it saw a crow flying carrying a piece of bread in its mouth. Crow sat on the nearby tree carrying a piece of bread in its mouth. Fox remembered the story told by his grandfather and decided to follow it.
It came near the tree and started praising the crow like " wow, it is my good luck that I have spotted you. I heard that you sing well. I always wanted to hear your voice. Can you sing a song for me now?" .
The crow had listened to the same story told by his grandfather and decided to change the climax part of it. It kept the piece of bread it was carrying on its mouth , on the branch of the tree it was sitting and started to sing. Unable to listen to the song, fox ran away.
While it was running, fox was heard saying " Grandfather's story didnt work here". Listening to that, crow said " but the idea told by  my grandfather worked well now !" .

Gunda's pranks

                                       Gunda's pranks

Today morning, when I opened the front door, I saw footprints. I knew it is of Gunda. As it rained throughout the night, the soil was wet.
Gunda came out seeing that the rain had given a small break . He directly came to our house to see that whether we are still sleeping or awake !
Since the door was closed, he was surprised . Sensing something, he wanted to peep in window too. Just to make sure everything allright. !
Seeing my face through the window, he was relieved and silently reached his house. It is a great pleasure to see someone taking care of us .

How does Bhishma got his name?

How does Bhishma got his name?

In Mahabharat, Bhishma is the grandfather of both Kouravas and Pandavas. The real name of Bhishma is Devavruta.
He is the son of first wife of King Shantanu. His mother was Ganga. It is believed that Bhishma is one of the Ashtavasu. Ganga had them as her children. She married Shantanu on a condition that Shantanu must not object for anything she does.
Shantanu had agreed for that and married Ganga. But as she got her first child, Ganga went and immersed the child in water and killed it. Shantanu was horrified but he didnt ask anything with his wife fearing that she may leave him. Ganga continued same story for the next 6 children.
But when she was about to kill her 8 th child, i.e. Devavruta , Shantanu forbidden her from doing so. Ganga spared that baby and told Shantanu that she is leaving him since he objected her work. Then it is learnt that Ashtavasu i.e. 8 of them had got the curse and because of that they had born as humans and Ganga was letting them to get rid of curse by killing them as soon as they born.
But Devavruta was spared. Shantanu made Devavruta as prince. Shantanu was attracted by a woman called Matsya Gandhi. He wanted to marry her. But she had put a condition that her eldest son should be the next heir after Shantanu.
But Shantanu didnt agree for that. Devavruta came to know what had happened and went near Matsya Gandhi. He assured her that he will not get marry and her child will be the next heir to throne. To make her believe, he vowed about that and fulfilled his promise too. Hence he got the name of Bhishma.

Who is the idiot?

                                              Who is the idiot?

Mulla Naseeruddin had decided to discuss his doubt regarding the subject he could not understand. He had invited the scholar for discussion  on that subject to his house.
But on that perticular day, Naseeruddin had forgotten that he had given appointment. He was not at home since morning. But scholar didnt forget the conversation he had with Naseeruddin.
He came to Naseeruddin's house in the morning. But house was locked. Scholar was very angry that Naseeruddin has not told him about his departure.
In a rage, he wrote "IDIOT" on the wall . This was visible from far away also. In the evening, when Naseeruddin had returned home, he observed the writing on the wall.
Suddenly, he remembered that he had given appointment to scholar to meet. Naseeruddin realised his mistake and he ran to scholar's house.
Naseeruddin met the scholar in his house and apologised for his mistake. Scholar was surprised . He wanted to know how Naseeruddin was able to find out it is he who wrote that?
Naseeruddin politely replied that scholar has written his name itself on the wall saying IDIOT. By that , he came to know it was the scholar. !

A new day

                                A new day

Sanjeev is a boy who is studying in 3 rd standard. His father was working in a bank. It was a transferrable job and similarly, Sanjeev's father too got a transfer while Sanjeev was in between his school time table. Now, Sanjeev has no other option to leave the town.
Sanjeev's family got shifted to new town to which Sanjeev's father has got transfer. Now , Sanjeev need to join school there in order to continue his studies. Sanjeev got enrolled to new school. He was scared on first day of his new school.
It was already known to everyone that Sanjeev is the new arrival for school. In the school , there were some students who were pranksters and love to see the other boys suffer. Even they eagerly waited for arrival of Sanjeev. On first day, Sanjeev came along with his parents.
The pranksters remembered the face of Sanjeev. On first day, they didnt give any trouble. But on second day, as Sanjeev entered the school gate, one of the pranksters called him "Hey, fatty" as Sanjeev was little plump to see. Sanjeev didnt pay attention.
At that time, one of pranksters came infront of him and started abusing him. Now Sanjeev could not tolerate and started crying. At that time, they dragged his tiffin box and emptied all the things and returned the empty box. Sanjeev spent whole day without having anything.
He was totally exhausted when he reached his house in evening. Mother was worried by seeing her child's condition. Slowly , she was successful to open the mouth of her son. Hearing all the things, she understood that her child is being bullied in school.
She thought of a plan. She asked Sanjeev how many were present among pranksters. Next day she prepared Sanjeev's lunch box with extra items and said a few words to Sanjeev too. When Sanjeev reached the school, pranksters were waiting for him.
When they saw him, one of the pranksters reached for him. That time, Sanjeev remembered what his mother said. He promptly gave his tiffin box to prankster and asked him to share with his friends. Prankster was surprised by the behaviour of Sanjeev.
He went near his friends and said the same to his friends. All were surprised. They were moved by generosity of Sanjeev. All of them decided to make Sanjeev their friend. From that day onwards, going to school is no longer a nightmare for Sanjeev.

A noble cause

                                       A noble cause

It was a moment of celebration in royal palace. It is the first birthday of prince. King had arranged a big party. Before to that, he was doing the ritual of a very auspicious havan.( A ritual performed in Hinduism ). King along with his wife and child were eagerly waiting.
At that time, a lady came running to venue. She had a complaint and she wanted to meet the king. But royal soldiers were not allowing her to go inside. But the lady was urging that it is very urgent.
Hearing the chaos going on outside, King himself came outside and asked with lady the reason for her restlessness. Then lady started explaining....
She lives near the border. Her farm is very adjacent to neighbouring state. That morning itself, when she was working in the field, she heard the conversation of enemy side. Soldiers were planning strategy to attack her kingdom. They can attack kingdom anytime.
Hearing the news, king thanked the woman for the information she has given. He alerted his army to be fully prepared.. He, himself was about to go to see the preparation. That time, the elderly people present there cautioned him against that.
According to them, it is not good to vacate the place when the rituals were proceeding. Then king  replied that Freedom is the noble thing and he is going to protect it. If there is freedom, in the future he will be able to arrange such functions frequently.
Elders agreed to the definition of noble cause of king.

My friends are missing

                                        My friends are  missing

It is all because of rain. My special friends are missing. If rain is given little free period, my friends cats will come  near my house to visit me !
But I miss my avian friends. They are crows and peahen. Crows were regularly come to nearby lake to bath in summer. Then I realised its not only humans who bath but also the crows.
But since it is rainy season, crows anyway will get nice bath sitting on trees. No need to come to lake. But peahen story I dont know. Similarly of monkeys too.
What will they do for their food? I always prefer to lie down on bed covering myself with blanket  nowadays. But also I shiver.

Monsoon Raga !

                                       Monsoon Raga !

Monsoon has arrived. In our locality it is raining since 5 days continuously Day and night rain. The invention made by me is ------
In our locality , it is only 2 types of weather throughout the year. They are---
1. Rainy season (up to October).
2. Summer ( from October to June)

Now  I have to come to know why do we experience lot of heat in summer. It is because , it is the time ground is getting dried up and it waits for the rain to come .
But I wonder why don't we experience winter  here? I found the answer too.  It is so chill in rainy season that God decided that why to give trouble to people of this area with separate winter season? HE has combined both rainy season and winter together !

                            Our weakness is our strength

Long ago, there was a boy. He had lost his left arm in an accident. He was worrying about that. A gentleman came near him and advised him to engage himself in the work he like most.

Master agreed and being knowing that his disability, he taught some easy stunts. To master's surprise, boy soon became expert in all those. Master thought now its the time to learn new and tidious techniques. He taught the boy all those. Boy became good in using those stunts.
There was a fighting competition arranged in their locality. Master wanted the boy to participate. Boy being knowing his disability refused the suggestion. But later agreed.
Boy won the first 2 rounds easily. The third and the final round was very challenging. Boy hesitated. Master asked him to use the new technique. Presto ! boy won that round too.
After that, boy was not ready to believe his achievement. He lost his left arm. But also, he won the competition. Master came near him and said the new trick has helped the boy to win the match . Surprised boy asked how?
Master replied in new technique, to win over the opponent, the other person must reach for his opponent's left arm. But boy had lost his left arm. His opponent didnt have any other option than to accept defeat. Boy's weakness itself had become his strength !

Why do animals cant talk?

                                           Why do animals cant talk?

Long ago, animals were also talking like humans. At that time, humans and animals by knowing others opinions, were living in harmony.
A woman had a cow as her pet. Once when she had come for milching, cow talked to her saying that " Give the milk to your husband as today is his last day". Woman was dumb founded by those words. She asked the cow how she knows that?
Cow replied the chariot of God of death, buffalo ,is her friend. Hence she knows the fact. Woman asked for an advice from cow to get rid of the problem? That time, cow replied " when the god of death come to house, give him a glass of milk to drink . It is not Indian custom to do harm to people who have helped them".
Woman does the same thing. God of death could not do harm by taking the life of her husband. Woman was happy. The story continued when the God came for next time also. This made him to find out the reason. He came to know that his buffalo is spilling beans.
As angry he was, he gave a curse to all animals that they must not talk.

Costliest present

                                     Costliest present

Long ago, there lived a king. Once when he was taking a stroll in his garden, a man came near him carrying a hen. when asked, man replied " I have won this hen in a gambling game in your name. Hence this hen  belongs to you . Please accept".
King agreed and asked the man to give the hen to the chair person of his palace's animal ward. Man thanked king and went near the chair person. After some days, same man came near King now carrying a goat. When asked ,man repeated the same story that he had won the goat in a gambling game under the name of king. This time also, king accepted the present.
After some days, same man appeared before king with two men. King thought this time also, man had come with presents. When asked, man replied " I have lost the gambling game under your name. Now i owe money to these people. Its your duty to help me"
King could not say no since he had accepted presents when the man had won the gambling game. Now for that reason, he helped the man with money and advised him not to play gambling games under his name.

The menace posed by Shani

                            The menace posed by Shani

Everyone is scared of Shani . It is believed that Shani is a planet if comes to our horoscope , then we have to face all troubles.
We are human beings. But God Shiv himself was troubled by Shani. The story goes like this. Once Shani came near God Shiv and requested him that it is the time for Shiv to face Shani for 2 1/2 years. Listening to that , Shiv's wife Parvati got scared. Even she had heard the stories of the problems faced by people because of Shani. She thought of a plan.
She came near Shiv and said that for the coming 2 1/2 years, Shiv must do meditation. He must not do any other work. She will go to her father's house and will stay there for 2 1/2 years. With this, they can make the problems posed by Shani negligible.
Shiv agreed. As per the plan, Parvati went to her father's house and Shiv started to meditate. Nothing happened for 2 1/2 years. Parvati was very happy by seeing that her plan worked out well. After the period passed by, she came near Shiv and said that she had defeated Shani.
Even Shiv was curious to know why Shani didnt pose a threat. He called Shani and asked for the reason with him. That time, Shani replied " My aim was to seperate both of you, husband and wife, for 2 1/2 years. With your plan, you had made my work easier !"

Humbleness

                                         Humbleness

Saint Vyasa was believed to have written down the epic Mahabharat. Some say that it was God Ganesh who has written down as Vyasa went on saying.
As  Mahabharat got much appreciation, Vyasa had become famous. He had become proud of himself. At that time, Narad thought the pride of Vyasa must be broken.
He came near Vyasa and described Kashi is the place everyone must visit in their life time. Vyasa had not been to Kashi yet. Vyasa thought that he must visit the place. He dreamt that people are arranging felicitation programs for him throughout the way.
He started his journey with  his students. But to his surprise, no one recognised him. Vyasa thought that people still dont know about his great achievement. He reached Kashi. But even there, though there are many people who are studying the great epics of Hinduism, no one recognised him.
It had irked Vyasa. It was the lunch time. As they had travelled a long distance, he himself and his students were very hungry. But no one invited them for lunch. Angry he was, he was about to give the curse to entire Kashi city.
At that time, a lady well dressed came infront of him. She invited him for lunch. Vyasa said he had come with his students. Lady with a smiling face, she invited everyone. Her mansion was very big. Even her husband was there and both the couple started preparation.
They only laid the banana leaves and invited all of them for lunch. But nothing was served yet. All of them sat infront of banana leaves. As soon as they sat, whatever they think about lunch, all served on the leaf instantaneously. All of them had a tasty meal.
Then Vyasa realised that couple are none other than Shiv and Parvati. After the lunch, the couple felicitated Vyasa. Vyasa was very happy. He became very humble now since God himself has helicitated him.!

Aurangajeb,hater of music

                                Aurangajeb,hater of music

The Mogul dynasty ruled ancient India. Akbar was the popular king among them. Similarly, Aurangajeb was the king who was notorious for his cruelty. Aurangajeb was the ardent follower of Islam and thought the people other than muslims are not eligible to live in his kingdom.
He called them as Kafirs(other than muslims) and was posing a tax called Jaziya on them. Hindus were his prays and it is believed that he was making them to forcibly get convert into Islam. Aurangajeb was doing 5 times namaz in a day .
He was not eating anything till he earn his own money. He was having something after he completes copying of Kuran and selling it. Such was his dedication. He was against peoples enjoyment. He banned music and dance in his kingdom. He thought they will divert the attention of people towards God.
One day , as he was taking rest in his room, he heard some noise. Curious as he was, he peeped through window. It was the procession taken by people after the dismissal of a great musician. They were taking the dead body to bury in a procession.
Aurangajeb came to know all of this from a courtier. Suddenly he gave some money to him and said that money must be given to relatives of dead musician. Courtier was very surprised by the behaviour of king. Aurangajeb tells the reason also :" Ask them to dig the ground deep to bury the  musician so that the musician can not afford to come up for the next birth also "!
Such was his music hateness.

A saying of wisdom

                                          A saying of wisdom

Long ago, in markets slaves are sold and purchased. The slaves have to obey the orders of their masters . In a Arab market, a slave is being auctioned. He was having scars of wounds all over his body pointing that he is a hard worker.
Taking pity on him, an Arab merchant purchased him by giving a good amount. Merchant took the slave to his home. There after asking him to take rest for a while, merchant asked the slave his name. Slave replied he dont have his own name. Whatever his master call him, that will be his name.
Merchant asked him what are the foods he like to have? Slave replied whatever his master gives him to eat, that will be his favourite food. Merchant was very happy by listening to the answers. But also, he asked last question. The question was what is his wish?
That time, slave was silent for a moment. He looked at the sky. He raised both his arms and then he said "We all are the slaves of GOD. He is our real master. Our wish dont matter. What HE wish with our life, is important. HIS wish matters most."
By listening to these words, merchant came near slave and hugged him. Merchant anounced that from now onwards he is merchant's master.

We know that Abhimanyu entered chakravyuha of enemy side. But he didnt come out. Enemies killed him cheatingly .
Abhimanyu's mother is Subhadra. She is the sister of Sri Krishna too. When she was pregnant of Abhimanyu, Sri Krishna was telling her bravery stories. She was listening to them. She was making sounds that she is awake and hearing the stories. Krishna was continuing telling stories.
Krishna now was telling the methods of winning the battle. He was describing how to enter the chakravyuha made by enemy side in battle field. He was explaining how to enter the chakravyuha. Then he observed that Subhadra is sleeping.
But sound was coming so that Krishna can go on continuing. Krishna was surprised. If Subhadra is sleeping and is not hearing the stories, then who is making sounds of affirmation that they are listening? Then suddenly Krishna realised that it is the unborn child of Subhadra, i.e. Abhimanyu.
Krishna instantly stopped explaining . He had described how to enter the chakravyuha. But he didnt explain how to come out of it, by seeing Subhadra is already sleeping. Hence unborn child, i.e. Abhimanyu only knew how to enter chakravyuha but not the exit.
Enemies had formed chakravyuha by knowing that Arjuna was away that day and in rival side, no one else know how to break that. But Abhimanyu insisted that he will go to battle ground saying that he know how to enter chakravyuha.
Likewise, he entered remembering the story he heard as unborn child. But he could not come out of it and enemies had killed him.

As we wish, so we see

As we wish, so we see

One day, Saint Vyasa asked Yudhistira to find a cunning man in kingdom. He called Duryodhan and asked him to find a good man in kingdom. After the day, both of them returned to palace with empty hand. Vyasa was surprised by this.
First, he asked with Yudhistira that why didnt he bring a cunning man? That time Yudhistira said the people he met were good people in one or the other way. Hence he came empty handed. Vyasa smiled and asked with Duryodhan ,the same question.
Duryodhan replied " All the people I met, are all cunning people. I could not find a single good person. World is full of cunning people". Then Vyasa called both of children and said as we wish, so we see. Yudhistira always see goodness in people . Thats why he could not find a cunning man.
But Duryodhan always see evil qualities in people. Hence he didnt find any good man.

What a luck !

                                          What a luck !

Long ago, 2 beggars were coming regularly near a king , asking alms. Eldest of them always saying that whatever happens is all because of God's will. But the youngest of them was telling it's all because of king's mercy. King was dissatisfied with elder one since he was not praising him.
One day , king after giving alms to them, asked them to take the path which is newly constructed near palace. Youngest one first goes in the path. The newly built road is very smooth. He thought he can walk across it by closing his eyes also !
Likewise he did and passed the path. Now it is the turn of Elder one. While walking across the path, he found a bag full of gold coins. He promptly came and returned the bag to king. King asked with younger one did he find anything across the path?
He said road was so smooth that he just closed his eyes and was walking. He didnt observe anything. Next time, king gave a pumpkin having gold coin within it. Both beggars took the pumpkin. King was curious to know what they will do with that?
Younger one went to a vegetable shop and sold the pumpkin and got the money. Elder one took the pumpkin to his house and cut it. He got the gold coin. He again came near king and gave the coin to him. That time, king thought whatever a man does, it is successfull only if God desires it. Man proposes, God disposes.

Lesson which should be kept in mind

Lesson which should be kept in mind

Rahul is a school going boy. He is a prankster. He is been given a bad grade in school too for his conduct. His parents were worried of this.
Rahul's mother didnt like her child's behaviour of giving trouble to others. She believes that children must be taught good values in young age . She decided that she will make her child to realise his mistake. But she didnt know where to start.
One day, Rahul came home catching a butterfly. His grip was so firm that poor butterfly was almost dead by now. Mother was watching what Rahul does next. Rahul brought a match stick box , emptied it and in that he put buterfly.
Mother felt very bad. She called Rahul and asked him to free the butterfly . But Rahul was adamant and he refused. Mother didnt say anything but she thought of a plan.
Next day evening , Rahul came back from school. He entered his room. He was very surprised to see all the windows are firmly latched . As soon as he entered the room, door had been latched from outside. Rahul didnt mind. He finished all his routine works and switched on light.
But power was cut. Now there is total darkness in room. He was feeling hungry and thirsty too. He called for his mother ,but no reply. Soon he started to get scared because of darkness . He banged the door and asked his mother to open the door.
Mother was standing there itself watching her son through the keyhole of door. Mother quickly opened door. Rahul ran outside, sat on the sofa and heaved a sigh of relief. Mother came near him. Rahul is now crying. He hugged his mother and asked why she has done this to him?
Mother calmly replied " You had kept the butterfly in similar condition. You didnt think that it may die because of lack of oxygen. I freed it as soon as you were away. We must not give trouble to others , if we cant make others happy."
Rahul learnt a great lesson. He decided that he will not trouble anyone from that day onwards.
