Why do we have numbness in the legs when we sit down for a long time?

 I have experienced it. After sitting on a chair for continuous 2 hours, I found it very difficult to take a step.

When we sit, we start building a pressure on our legs. This pressure can briefly compress the nerves in that area.

As a result, there will not be fluent communication between brain and the nerves of that area. 

As we know brain sends signals to our body organs through nerves. When nerves get compressed, signals from brain will not reach the organs as they should be. 

That's why we feel difficult to move as we wish. 

But it is only for some seconds. As soon as the pressure on nerves gets eased, communication between brain and organs re establish. 

What happens if some thing falls into black hole?

 We all know what are black holes in the universe. They are the remainings of a dead star in space.

Now why they are black? Black holes are having the huge gravity power such that they don't let even the light to pass through them.

If a matter absorbs all the visible light falls on it, they would look black in colour. Whereas if they reflect all the colours of visible light, they will be white in colour. 

According to Einstein theory of general relativity,  if a matter falls into the black hole,  it keeps falling down and down and down , to a central point where it literally gets crushed into a single point. 

Real things are not known to science yet. 

If would black holes allow light to pass through them, then they would be called transparent holes.  !!!! 

We can say black holes suck matters. 

Why a balloon bursts with a pop sound when pricked with a needle ?

The air in the balloon is at a higher pressure compared to its surroundings . Elastic tension of balloon skin is pulling inwards uniformly .

When we stick a pin inside the balloon it creates a tiny hole . Now the rubber around the hole is not being pulled uniformly anymore . 

Hence the force imbalance increases . In a fraction of second , the entire skin of the balloon gets contracted to a point opposite to the hole .

The high pressure air inside the balloon is now free to expand . This creates a pressure wave that we hear as pop sound .

 Pop sound is created after a sudden pressure change due to the rapid expansion of the air inside the balloon . All this process happens in a fraction of second .

Why does Mulla Naseeruddin refused to write the letter?

 Once a friend came near Mulla Naseeruddin and requested him to write a letter for him.

Naseeruddin directly refused to write the letter as his feet are paining. 

Friend was confused and asked Naseeruddin what the connection between his feet and writing the letter? 

Mulla Naseeruddin said, " As no one can read my handwriting, I myself have to go wherever the letter goes and read the letter to the recipient by myself!!!!" 

Brotherhood of Ram , Laxman, Bharat and Shatrugn

This incident happened when the 4 brothers were in their childhood . The 4 brothers were -----

Ram
Laxman
Bharath
Shatrugna


All the latter 3 considered Ram as their leader . They would not do anything against the will of Ram . The brothers were like this .. 


It was the time for them to leave the palace and go to gurukul to study . On reaching gurukul , Ram observed that they were given too much importance . Ram didn't like that .


He wanted they should be treated as normal children . Hence he stressed that they should be given the same food as other children have .


His brothers followed what Ram has done . They refused the food brought for them from the palace to have .


Once Manthara had brought the food only for her favourite Bharath . Bharath was the foodie . But knowing that the food was only brought for him and not for his brothers he refused to have it .


Then Ram came and clarified that they will have the same food as other children . Manthara got angry for not letting Bharath to have the food and started abusing Ram .


Laxman and Shatrugna who were watching all these , prepared to pelt the stones on Manthara for abusing Ram .


Later Ram consoled them and stopped them from pelting stones . This shows the brotherhood between the boys .

What colour is my hair?

 This is a mullah Naseeruddin story.

One day king has had ordered the royal barber to trim his head. Barber was doing his work and suddenly he exclaimed that hairs on King's head are turning gray!!!

This exclamation made the king to get angry.

He ordered the soldiers to arrest the barber and put him in the jail for 6 months. 

King turned to other courtier and asked him what is the colour of his hair?

Courtier said there are black hairs on the head of King. 

This made the king to get even more angry. He thought courtier is making fun of him .

He ordered the soldiers to put the courtier in jail.

Then he turned to other courtier and asked him the same question , what colour is my hair?

He thought for a moment and said king has all black coloured hairs on his head.

King shouted at him for telling lies and ordered the soldiers to punish him .

Mulla Naseeruddin was present at the court . He had seen everything .

Now king turned to Mulla Naseeruddin and asked him what is the colour of his hair ?

Naseeruddin politely said , " Sir , I am colour blind . I can't differentiate between the colours . But compared to me , you are luckiest . Mine is BALD HEAD " !!!!

Question on astronomy

 Children's special week episodes of Koun Banega Karodpati were telecasting on television.

There was a question on astronomy. I thought it as very simple. But actually it's not. Here's the question

In our solar system, which of these celestial objects are least in number?

1. Number of planets

2. Number of natural satellites

3. Number of stars

4. Number of planets with rings

I thought it as a simple question. 

I started calculating in my mind. 

Number of planets =  8

Number of natural satellites = 171

Number of stars = uncountable as it can be seen in the sky at night 

Number of planets with rings = 4

According to my chart which is shown above, the least number of celestial bodies is option 4 which is the number of planets with rings. In our solar system,  there are 4 planets with rings. 

Most of us think like this. 

But answer is number of stars which is 1.

Let me explain. 

It is said in our SOLAR System. 

In our solar system,  Sun is the only one star. There are no other stars in solar system except Sun.

But we do see lots of stars in the sky at night.  What about them? 

These stars are in our galaxy, not in our solar system. 

Solar system comprises of one star that is Sun. 

Hence correct answer is number of stars. 

When I was explained like this, I understood. 

Moral of the story :  First read the question carefully before attempting.

 ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ನಾನು ಈ ಕನ್ನಡ ಒಗಟಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿದೆ. ಇದು ನೋಡಿದಷ್ಟು ಸರಳ ಅಲ್ಲ.

ಹತ್ತು ತಲೆ ಕೆಂಪು. ಆರು ತಲೆ ಕಪ್ಪು.

ಏನಿದು ವಿಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲೇನು ತಲೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಹಾಗಿದೆ.

ಮೊದಲೇ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ ಇದು ನಾವು ತಿಳಿದಂತೆ ತಲೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲ.

Question asked in Koun Banega Karodpati?

 Koun Banega Karodpati is being aired on Sony Entertainment Television every weekdays night at 9.00.

 

As I don't watch TV before going to bed, I watch the repeat telecast of same episode next day morning at 11.00.

I am able to answer the questions based on Hindu mythology. In last 10 years, I have written about most of the demons and their deaths in my blog as articles. 

But this perticular episode had a question to which I could not answer. Even my father could not. My father answers all of the questions asked in Koun Banega Karodpati without taking any help. 

But to this question even he was speech less. 

The question is - - - - 

Who is the father of Satya Harischandra? 

All of us know the story of SATYA HARISCHANDRA. Even Gandhiji was inspired by him. We all know how he struggled and faced problems to keep his words given to Sage Vishwamitra. 

I know all of this. But I never took the trouble to find out who is the father of SATYA HARISCHANDRA. 

As we all know each question comes with options. Here the options were 

A. Sagar                B. Bhagirath           C. Trishanku

I was pretty sure that Bhagirath is the grandson of Sagar. But I don't know about Bhagirath 's son. 

Trishanku was a king who wanted to reach heaven when he is still alive. Sage Vishwamitra was able to send him to heaven with his power which he got by doing penance. 

But Indra didn't allowed Trishanku to enter the heaven, alive. Moreover he pushed him towards the earth. 

Vishwamitra was watching all this and he didn't wanted his efforts to go in vain. So Vishwamitra created the replica of heaven in between actual heaven and earth. This is called Trishanku Swarga. 

This much I know about Trishanku. 

What surprised everyone is SATYA HARISCHANDRA is the son of Trishanku. 

I will write about this topic later in my blog as I also need to gather information about this. 

T20 cricket final match

 Yesterday it was T20 cricket final match between Australia and New Zealand .

I was curious to know who has won the toss . It was Australia . As every team did after winning the toss  , they opted to field first .

That time only I have concluded that Australia is going to win the match and will be the champions. It happened in other matches also.

My forecast was right . How much big New Zealand put the target , it would not be a problem for Australia to chase . Because in the second half of game , dew will start to fall on ground.

That would make the fielding difficult . But it is not a problem to bat . So batting team easily win the match .

One of the reason behind India's early exit from the your also this . India has lost the toss and had to bat first in important matches with Pakistan and New Zealand.

Australia vs Pakistan T20 semi-final cricket match

 Today is Australia and Pakistan T20 semi-final cricket match. I don't have any interest to watch.

But I came across the result of toss . Australia has won the toss and elected to field first. That means Pakistan is going to bat first.

Just look at the result of other matches . All the teams which have batted first , had lost the game . 

Just take a look at England and New Zealand match . Here England batted first and lost the game. New Zealand was the winner .

So today also same thing will happen . Pakistan will lose the match. I am feeling happy now only . The reason is known to everyone !!!

Question on pilivesha in Koun Banega Karodpati....

 This week's Koun Banega Karodpati has the contestants who were unable to reach the hotseat in last few weeks.

One of the contestant was Yuvarajappa. He is from Bangalore. I thought one kannadiga participant finally.

I was watching the program. One question was " in pilivesha, people dressed up as which animal?"

Pilivesha is coastal karnataka folk dance. Here people dressed up as tigers, mimic it's actions. Actually people are playing this in the time of krishna janmashtami.

Now I wondered the question asked pilivesha which is a tulu word. Here we call the dance by that name itself. In kannada it becomes hulivesha.

Now the contestant is from Bangalore. Usually people from Bangalore are least concerned about people in other places.

I thought contestant would use a life line. But he correctly answered the question. 

I really thought he will get mixed up. Pilivesha is a tulu word. I was surprised when he said pili means tiger. 

India has been knocked out of the T20 tournament

 Once hailed as the favourites of T20 cricket tournament, India is knocked out of the T20 tournament itself.

After losing the first 2 matches to Pakistan and New Zealand, India 's fate of entering the semis was dependent on the result of today's New Zealand and Afghanistan match.

There was a slight chance for India to enter the semis if Afghanistan beats New Zealand depending on the run ra rate. 

But New Zealand has won the match and qualified for semis along with Pakistan.

India has knocked out of tournament itself. 

Finally India has won the toss!!

 In all the T20 matches India played so far, be it with

Afghanistan

One thing is common in all the above matches. India had lost the toss and was asked to bat first.

Tosses win matches. The team who bowl and field second has to fight with dew which is falling down on ground. This factor makes the fielding to be difficult.

But today we have a match with Scotland. Just now toss happened. India has won the toss and decided to bowl first. 

It is almost winning the match itself. Just waiting to watch the margin of victory.  

Pathetic performance by Indian top order batsmen

 Yesterday was the T20 match  between India and New Zealand. The performance of Indian top order batsmen are really worst.

Indian cricket team never won a T20 match against New Zealand. In this match also it continued.

When I came to know that New Zealand had won the toss and chose to field, that time itself I had concluded that India would lose the match.

India was able to score just 110 runs from 20 overs.

Now India has stood on the edge of exit from the tournament itself. One more loss in the game confirms the exit. 

Story of Pramadwara

 We all know the story of Satyavan and Savitri and how Savitri was successful in bringing back her husband's life from the clutches of God of death  ,   Yama himself . 

That is the story of a wife and husband. Today I am writing a story about a loving husband who has given 50% of his life span to his wife so that she is alive again . 

Husband's name is Ruru and his wife is Pramadwara . Ruru was a sage and he fell in love with Pramadwara and married her . 

Once in the garden  , she was bit by a snake. She breathe her last in the arms of her husband. By seeing this  , Ruru was unconsolable.

Grief striken Ruru started pleading with Yamadootas not to take his wife to another world . He was ready to give all of the credits he has earned because of his penance . His only wish is to see his wife live again . He started to pray God of death , Yama . 

By watching his unconditional love for his wife, Yama came with a proposal  . The proposal was Ruru has to give 50% of his life span to his wife so that she can live again . 

Ruru instantly agreed to that . Pramadwara has got her husband's half of life . Ruru and Pramadwara lived their life happily . 

 

India vs Pakistan T20 match

 The much awaited match between India and Pakistan is finally happening today.

Pakistan has won the toss and elected to field first. India is struggling.

After just 5.4 overs India are 31/3.

Rohit Sharma got out for a duck. In form batsman Rahul got out in the next over. Even Surya Kumar Yadav got out. I don't think there are any other batsmen remaining who can play. 

Better to watch Kapil Sharma Show. At least there will be a smile on my face. 

Bhayasur, brother of Bakasur

 We all know that when Pandavas were doing vanavas , Bhim had killed the demon named Bakasur . Bakasur was the man eater and the villagers had to provide him one man to eat daily . Villagers could not able to protest .When Bhim came to know , he himself went near the monster as his food and eventually killed Bakasur. 

Bhayasur was the brother of Bakasur . He wanted to take the revenge of his brother's killing by Pandavas , specially Bhim ..But he could not find Bhim . But he encountered with Arjun . Bhayasur said to Arjun , Your brother had killed my brother . Now it is my turn to kill you . Arjuna accepted the challenge 

 A fierce battle happened between the two . Arjuna was able to nullify all the weapons used by monster and finally killed him .

Mahishasura Mardini and demon Chikshura

 Today is Vijaya Dashami . It is the day when good won over bad . Many of us know the story of  Mahishasur . He along with his army had captured heaven and made devas who are the residents of heaven  , homeless

That time all devas along with trimurthis chanted the prayers of goddess and she assured to help them . Same way , she declared a war over demons army whose leader is Mahishasura.

Mahishasura is the king of demons . He had conquered the heaven with his huge army . Chikshura is one of the commander of army . 

As directed by his supreme Mahishasur , Chikshura advanced to battle ground with his army  consisting of demons , horses , elephants , chariot.

Chikshura confronted the devi who is sitting on lion . Devi easily dismissed all the weapons thrown at her . Lion pounced on soldier demons and in no time they all are killed .

Finally , demon commander Chikshura was also killed by Goddess .

Easy raita recipe without cucumber

 I like the raitas without cucumber in it .  My mother prepared this raita today.

Ingredients

Plain curd - 3 cups

Salt - As per taste

Onion - 1

Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon

Green chillies - chopped - as required

Coriander leaves - chopped -  to garnish

Method

Chop onions into small pieces . Along with green chillies , cumin powder and salt mix well with curd .

Now garnish with coriander leaves. Serve chilled .

Misinterpretation of words .....

Once there was a rich man in the city . He had everything . He was leading a luxurious life .


At this point , he started to feel pain in his left eye . He consulted many doctors , did everything as prescribed by them . But eye pain didn't reduce , instead it started to get worse day by day .


Rich man didn't know what to do . At this time , a friend suggested him to visit an elderly man for the solution of his problem .




Likewise rich man met the elderly man
. Elderly man listened to problem and asked him to look at only green coloured things for some time .

Rich man decided to implement what he has been told . He changed the colour of each and every thing in his house to green colour .


Even the servents in the house were wearing green coloured clothes and have applied green coloured paint on all over their body .


After a few days , elderly man came to visit rich man . That time , he saw everything in the house has been changed to green colour .


When he wanted to meet the rich man , servants poured green coloured paint on him so that even he can look green coloured to rich man .!! 



Elderly man fed up of this . He said they have misinterpreted his words. He said instead of changing colour of everything , rich man could have worn green
colour glasses !!!!

Kannada in Kapil Sharma show!

 I am a big fan of Kapil Sharma show . I don't miss any episodes to watch  . For some reason  , show was halted for some time . But now it is back with new concept..

Yesterday's ( September 25,, 2021)  episode was hilarious. Virendra Sehwag and Mohd Kaif who are the famous cricketers of our Indian cricket team were the guests . 

Kapil usually interacts with the studio audience in the middle of the show  . In order to initiate the talks  , he gave the topic of trying to give the match commentary in native language of respective person . 

First person stood up and he tried to give the commentary in his native language Bengali . After his turn  , a girl stood up . Before trying,, she said she will talk in KANNADA   

 

She has prepared the background also . That is she is late for her work because of traffic of Bangalore. She has given the kannada commentary saying that Sehwag and Kaif are opponents in the play . 

It was a nice surprise for me to watch a girl speaking in Kannada on a national television . Even Kapil was impressed by her and gifted her a gift hamper of sponsors of show . 

ಉಡುಪಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯ

 ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡವೇ ಆಡಳಿತ ಭಾಷೆ. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಶೈಲಿ ಬೇರೆ .

ನಾನಿಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ ತುಳು ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಠವಾದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ .

೧. ಪಕ್ಕ - ಈ ಪದಕ್ಕೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ತುಳುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಅರ್ಥಗಳಿವೆ . ಉಡುಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಉಡುಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಕ ಎಂದರೆ ಬಾಜು ಅನ್ನುವ ಅರ್ಥವೇ ಇದೆ . ಆದರೂ ತುಳು ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ  ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥ ಬೇರೆ . ಉಡುಪಿ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಕ ಎಂದರೆ ಬೇಗನೆ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥ .

ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ನಾನು ಈಗ ಹೋಗಿ ಪಕ್ಕ ಬರ್ತೇನೆ . 

ಇದು ಪಕ್ಕ.ಸರಿ ಆಗುದಿಲ್ಲ .

೨ . ನಾವು ಅವಸರ ಎಂಬ ಶಬ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ತುಳು ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಸರ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ . ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಎಂಥ ಅಮ ಸರ ಮಾರ್ರೆ ನಿಂಗೆ .

೩ . ಬಾಟಲ್ ತುಂಬಾ ನೀರು ಎನ್ನಲು ಬಾಟಲ್ ನಿಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರು ತುಂಬಿಸಿದ .

೪. ತುಳಸಿ ಗಿಡ ಎನ್ನಲು ತೊಳಸಿ ಗಿಡ .

ಇದು ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ ಆಗಾಗ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತು . 

ಬತ್ತೆರ್ ತಿಂದೆರ್ ಪೋಯೇರ್

ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥ ಏನೆಂದರೆ ಯಾವಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೆಂಗಸು ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ಯಾವುದೇ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡದೆ ತನ್ನ ಪಾಡಿಗೆ ತಾನು ಇದ್ದು ನಂತರ ಬೇರ್ಪಡುವುದು . 

ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯ ತುಳು ದ್ರಾವಿ ಡ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಎಂದು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ .

ಉಡುಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ  ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ತುಳು ಭಾಷೆಗಳು ಒಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡಿವೆ . ಇಂತಹುದೇ ಇನ್ನೂ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಪದಗಳಿವೆ .

ಇದುವೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಕನ್ನಡ .

Greed that brought destruction

This story was told in Mahabharata .

Long ago , there lived a king . A daughter was his only child . He was worried that he is not having a son who can inherit his kingdom . To find a solution , he invited many great Vedic sages , served them and asked for their blessings .


Once Maharshi Narad was his guest . Pleased with king's prayers , Narad decided to grant him a boon . When asked , greedy king asked for a son who is smart , healthy and also his excreta like his tears , stools , sweat , urine , sputum and phlegm must be made of gold !!!


Like wise , a son was born to king . All excreta of prince's body was in gold . This resulted in high increase in the income of king . King was very happy .


Soon , the news spread everywhere . People thronged to palace to have the glimpse of Prince . Even the robbers learnt about this and they kidnapped the Prince . Soon their hideout also got filled with the golden excreta of Prince .



King had began searching for his son . Robbers realized that it is not safe to keep the Prince with them . They decided to kill the Prince and equally share the hidden gold of his dead body .



Eventually , they killed the Prince . But could not find anything from dead body . Thus , the greed of  king cost him his son's life .

Why do we chant " ganpati bappa moreya "?

 Wherever or whenever we worship God Ganesh , we usually say "ganpati bappa moreya " . Today I am writing about this.

Ganpati is another name of God Ganesh . 

Bappa means baap or father .

Moreya is the aberration of the word mourya .

Now who is this mourya ? 

Mourya was the devotee of God Ganesh . When mourya was a kid , his father gave him some laddus and asked him to offer them to God Ganesh of nearby temple .

Innocent Mourya had always thought that when we offer something , God himself comes and accept it .

Likewise , Mourya arranged the laddus infront of idol of God Ganesh and requested him to accept them . There was no response from God . Mourya thought maybe because of shyness , God is hesitating to come out .

So he hid in the corner silently and allowed God Ganesh to eat the laddus . Time passed but God Ganesh didn't come to eat the laddus . Now Mourya got anxious .

He thought God Ganesh is angry on him and that's why he is not coming to have laddus offered by him . Mourya asked for the apology with God Ganesh . He begged for forgiveness in his own different manners .

But all are not of any use . Finally Mourya threatened God Ganesh that if Ganesh don't come to eat laddus  , he will bang his head against the wall .

But still no response . Mourya started to bang his head against the wall . He didn't stop when blood started to ooze out of the head . At that time , there was a bright light from idol . God Ganesh himself has arrived by listening to the innocent prayer of his devotee .

Mourya was very happy by seeing God Ganesh . He offered laddus to God Ganesh . God Ganesh ate some laddus and asked Mourya to have laddus with him . Now it is time to return . God Ganesh and Mourya  both returned to their home .

Seeing Mourya returning , his worried parents hurriedly came near him . They saw some pieces of laddus around Mourya's mouth and also the plate of laddus is empty .

They thought Mourya has eaten all the laddus by himself without offering them to God . But Mourya said that God Ganesh himself has come and has eaten the laddus . 

But no one believed him . Everyone thought Mourya is lying . Mourya was firm about what is he saying . Everyone asked him to prove what he is saying . Mourya agreed .

All of them came to temple with Mourya holding the plate of laddus . Infront of everyone  , Mourya kept the plate tladdus in front of idol of God Ganesh , and started praying . 

But this time , God Ganesh didn't come to eat laddus . All the people accused Mourya of telling lies and demanded punishment for him . All of them dragged Mourya to nearby riverbed .

They tried to put Mourya under water . Soon Mourya sank in water . People were about leave .  That time they observed a bright light flashing under the water .

Soon God Ganesh came outside holding Mourya's hand . By seeing that , people cheered for God Ganesh and also for Mourya . From that day onwards , people started to chant " gsnpati bappa moriya " remembering innocent devotion of Mourya also .

How to differentiate?

 Long ago there were a duo of father and son . Son could not find any work to do after so many attempts .

Father starts to worry about the future of his son after his death. Soon his health got deteriorate and he was counting his last days . 

That time, he called his son near to him and gave two glowing and shining stones . Both of them are looking the same . One of them is a diamond and the other one is made by glass .

It is very difficult to differentiate between the two . So father explained the fact and advised him to go near King's with the challenge to differentiate the diamond and glass out of the 2 stones . If they fail to do so  then the opponent must give the value of diamond to son.

After his father's death, son went near the king of his country  . He presented the 2 stones before him . He explained the challenge to King . King agreed to the challenge and called a famous jeweller who is a expert in finding out the quality of diamonds . 

The jeweller came and he inspected both of the stones . But he could not differentiate between diamond and glass . He accepted his defeat . Many jewellers came but no one knew the answer  . 

Son was awarded the money as promised and he moved to the next kingdom . There also same thing got repeated and son had won the challenge .

Now son has got enough money to spend his life luxuriously . But he continued the same challenge and went to different kingdoms . One day he came to a kingdom where he could say that it is a poor kingdom .

He went to the court . The king was so poor that he was running his court on an open ground . Son put the 2 stones before him and challenged the king and his courtiers to differentiate between them ,diamond and glass respectively.

Soon one old man got up . Everyone were looking hopeful at old man . Old man held both the stones under the sunlight . After some time, he separated them as diamond and glass correctly.

Everyone was surprised . Old man explained , " When kept under the sun , a stone which is made of glass will gets heated up . But a diamond will not ".

Why does Krishna wear a peacock feather on his head ?

 God Sri Krishna is always shown wearing a peacock feather on his head . What is the reason behind this ?

The answer to this question lies in ,Ramayana . We know that God Vishnu took the form of Sri Ram . He had to go to forest as per the boon his father had given to his step mother .

When Sri Ram decided to go to forest  , his wife Sita and his brother Laxman accompanied him . One day they were passing through a dense forest .

That time , all were tired . Sita said she is feeling thirsty and wants to drink water . As it was the dense forest and surroundings were new to them  , they didn't know which way to go .

Sri Ram prayed to Goddess of forests to show them the way to nearby water source . Goddess heard the prayer and asked a peacock to help them by showing the way .

Peacock agreed and came near Sri Ram and said that it will guide them to reach the water source by flying ahead of them . All agreed . Peacock thought it will be ahead of them as it is flying and Sri Ram and his team may lose the way .

It came with a solution to the problem . It said it will go on dropping its feathers on the way it has flew . So that Sri Ram and his team can easily make sure the way to follow .

Likewise it went on dropping its feathers over the way . Sri Ram and his accomplices followed that mark and successfully reached the place of water source .

But feathers of peacock must be dropped by their own and not by plucking them . If feathers have come out by plucking them , then the respective peacock dies .

Here also same thing happened . Peacock was dying after reaching the water place . That time Sri Ram thanked the peacock for its help . . He promised the peacock that he will remember the sacrifice made by the peacock when helping them . 

Sri Ram said during his next incarnation , he will always wear the peacock feather on his head as the token of gratitude .

Likewise God Vishnu in his next avatara as Sri Krishna always seen wearing peacock feather on his head .

Story behind rahu and ketu formation

Devas and asuras began to churn the milk ocean to get amrit , a nectar which is believed to give immortality . The deal was to give 50 % of amrit to both the sides . They went on churning till they get amrit .



The asuras though they act like fools  , some of them are quite clever . One of them was Svarbhanu . He anticipated that devas would distribute all the amrit amongst themselves , he disguised himself as a deva and stood in the queue for amrit .

Same thing happened . Amrit became empty soon while distributing to devas . Svarbhanu was the last in the queue . He was about to swallow amrit through his throat  , that time rest of the devas realised that he was not one of them .


That time God Vishnu cut his head from his body . From that time , his head became rahu and his body became ketu .

Why can't we able to sleep after seeing light ?

Our  body has its own sleep and wake cycle. When we are exposed to light at night ,this cycle's rhythm is thrown off . As a result , our body produces less melatonin hormones which helps in making us sleepy .

As a result , we don't get enough sound sleep . Sleep deprivation is also linked with these side effects,

 

Depression , obesity , accidents and increased risk of chronic diseases .

It's better to switch off the lights while going to sleep .

Independence day special

 Today we are celebrating 75th year of independence day . We got independence from British rulers on 15th August 1947.

But whole of India was not ruled by British . I agree most part of  India was obeying British orders. 

Here and there,, Portuguese and French people also have ruled India . For example, Goa .. Goa was not ruled by British . It was under Portuguese administration  .

Though most part of India which were ruled by British have got independence on 15th August, 1947 : Goa had not been the part of India .

Though British gave us the independence,, Portuguese did not . It was after independence that too on December  19, 1961 Goa and other Indian colonies ruled by Portuguese became part of India with the success of operation vijay .

Same goes with French ruled Indian colonies . French were occupying pondicherry and other places . Even they did not leave India as soon as British left . With lots of negotiations between Indian government and French government  ,  finally pondicherry and other French colonies became part of India from May 1961 .

Our freedom struggle is not only with British but also with Portuguese and French who had established their colonies here .

Fool's gold

 The mineral Iron Pyrite is also known as fool's gold is an iron sulphide with chemical formula FeS2 .  It is the most abundant pyrite found on earth's crust .

Pyrite's metallic lustre and pale brass yellow colour give it a superficial resemblance to gold  , to the untrained naked eye . Unlike gold ,it is brittle and can be easily broken .

Iron pyrite is unstable at earth's surface . It is present in the dust from the coal mining operations . Pyrite oxidation is sufficiently exothermic . Because of this , underground coal mines have serious problem of spontaneous combustion .

Why do we close our eyes when flashed with strong light ?

We close our eyes when large amount of light falls on it . It is a reflex action , an involuntary action . The cells called red cells and cone cells in the eye control the passage of light through our eyes .



When a concentrated ray of light falls on our eyes ,  the red and cone cells in the eye can not handle it . The condition may lead to blindness . So these cells send a message to the spinal cord about the consequences . Spinal cord sends the command to the eyelids to close to prevent further damage .




Closing the eyes when large amount of light falls on it is the mechanism of self protection .

Cat and the grasshopper

No mistake in the title of this post . It is the story of a cat and grasshopper .


One rainy day , rain had given little break to its work . Thinking it as the right time to take a look at surroundings , a cat had come out of the house walking towards the garden .


That time itself , it saw a grasshopper flying in the garden . Cat got attracted by grasshopper . Cat got impressed by the green coloured body of grasshopper . Its body was shining .


Cat went near grasshopper and congratulated it for its shining green coloured body . Cat wanted to know the secret behind this .


Grasshopper proudly said it is all because of the diet it is following . It said it only eats the dew fallen on grass in the early morning . That is the reason behind its green and shiny body .



Cat decided to follow the same diet as it was unhappy with its fat body . It started eating only the dew found on grass .



All went well for 2-3 days . Then cat began to feel weak and low in strength . But it didn't stopped its new diet thinking it would be having slim and shinier body just like grasshopper .



But its body didn't get adjusted for the new diet . Cat was growing weak day by day and one day it was dead ....



MORAL OF THE STORY :  We must accept ourselves as we are . Just be ourselves . Health is wealth .

Young Indian cricket team can not handle pressure

 Today is the decider match of T20 cricket match series. 

I don't think India is going to put a competetive score on score board . Reason India already 25 runs for 4 wickets !! 

This Indian cricket team is full of youngsters leaving Shikher Dhawan and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar . It is clearly evident that the young boys can not handle pressure of a decider match . 

It all started with Dhawan getting out very early such that he went out for a duck !! The next batsman Padikkal played some shots . But he was run out when the umpire himself was not sure of whether it was a lbw.

Now the score is 39 runs for 5 wickets . I wonder if India can pass the 100 runs in 20 overs . 

Meanwhile Sri Lankans are already confident of their win in the match . It is quite evident from the behaviour . 

But I would be happy if India at least give some competition  . There must be some dignity in losing also ... 

First T20 match between India and Sri Lanka

 Yesterday was the day of first T20 match between India and Sri Lanka. India has lost the toss and had to bat first .

In the first ball of the match itself , Indian opener Prithvi Shah was out for a golden duck . Skipper Shikher Dhawan and Sanju Samsun tried to keep the rhythm of the game .

Samsun and Dhawan both played scoring shots . But the match was interesting when Surya Kumar Yadav had come to crease . Surya loves to play the shots over the head of bowler !!

He departed as soon as he scored a 50 . Then came Hardik Pandya . I wonder why he was in the team . It was very clear that he was struggling to play the shots . Whatever he had done in the past is past . I strongly recommend him to play in the domestic cricket matches first . 

By doing so, he will be able to find his batting form . Afterwards he may return to international cricket matches . In a T20 match,, instead of scoring singles, it's better to play scoring shots and post a competitive score to chase to the opponents . 

Ishan Kishen could have come in the place of Hardik to play . India would have scored 30 more runs . Finally India scored 164/5 in 20 overs .

Indian bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 126 all out . India has won the first T20 cricket match against Sri Lanka . 

Why did she killed him ?

The king of Dholakpur went on hunting with his minister in the forest . Both king and minister are young . Both of them were in a mood of exploring new places . They came near the river .



On the river bank , both of them spotted a beautiful girl enjoying her boat ride . For the king , it is love at first sight with the girl .



Even the girl spotted them . As soon as she saw them , she plucked a lotus flower from nearby place . Then she hit her ears with the flower vigorously .


After that , she touched her chest with same lotus flower . Looking at both the young men  , she crushed the lotus flower under her legs .


King didn't understand anything . He thought the girl got annoyed . But his minister said she is passing messages through her actions . The meaning of hitting the ears by lotus flower means that she is from Karnataka region . The meaning of touching the flower to her chest means that she likes him . The meaning of her last action is that her name is Padmavati .



King was very happy that the girl likes him . After some days , he went near the girl with marriage proposal . That time he revealed that his minister had decoded her actions and said that she loves the king .


Listening to that girl gave a laddo to king and asked him to pass it to the minister . King agreed and did the same when he reached home .


But after receiving the laddoo , minister killed the king . After that  , he again went near girl to meet her . But at that time  , girl killed the minister !!!


Why did she killed him ???

Simple coconut chutney

This chutney recipe is very simple with less ingredients.

Required ingredients

Grated coconut 1 cup

Pudina leaves 5-6 leaves

Raw ginger

Green chillies

Salt  

 Preparing method

Grind all the above meinntioned ingredients in a mixing jar with less water . This chutney must not be watery . Use minimum water .

Glass of water contains ice cubes . What would happen to water level if the ice cubes melts ?

 We know that ice is less denser than water . That's why ice floats on water .

As density is inversely proportional to volume , volume of ice is more compared to volume of water . So the volume of water what we get when ice melts  , is comparatively lesser to that of water which was present in the glass earlier .

As the ice melts , it will change into denser liquid water and this water occupy lesser space as compared to the space it was occupying when it was ice .

Thus we can say that water level decreases when the ice melts .

Why is the statue of liberty green ?

 America's statue of liberty is blue-green in colour . When it was unveiled , it was not green in colour but was of shiny brown colour.

The reason why statue of liberty changed the colour is that the outer surface of statue is covered with hundreds of thin copper sheets . Copper reacts with air which is known as oxidation reaction to form cuprus oxide ,which is green in colour.

This oxide has formed a layer that protects the underlying metal from corrosion and degradation . So it is a blessings in disguise !

Hug of Dhritarashtra

Dhritarashtra was the father of kouravas . During Mahabharata war , each and every son of Dhritarashtra  got killed by their rivals Pandavas .

Though Dhritarashtra is blind physically , he was blind in morality sense too . Dhritarashtra had supported each and every action of his son Duryodhana without thinking if it is right or wrong .


Dhritarashtra is believed to have the power of 1000 elephants . His embrace was so powerful that it would crush anything he embraced , to pieces .

 Dhritarashtra had come to know the death of his elder son Duryodhan in the hands of Bheem . After Mahabharata war , victorious Pandavas had come to seek the blessings of Dhritarashtra and his wife and to ask for forgiveness .

Krishna accompanied Pandavas . Pandavas one by one started bowing to Dhritarashtra telling their names . But when it was the turn of Bhim , Krishna asked Bhima to stay back , and forwarded his look a like statue infront of Dhritarashtra .


As Dhritarashtra was blind , he embraced the statue thinking it as Bhim so tightly that it was broken into pieces .


After he got calmed down , he regretted for his action of crushing Bhim . But he was told that it was the statue of Bhim which got crushed and real Bhim is safe .


This incident shows how much Dhritarashtra was mightier though he was blind physically .

ಪ್ರಭಾವತಿ , ಇಂದ್ರನ ಪತ್ನಿ

ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವಂತೆ ಶಚಿ ದೇವಿ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಪತ್ನಿ . ಆದರೆ ಒಂದು ಟಿ ವಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಭಾವತಿ ಎನ್ನುವವಳೂ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಮಡದಿ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು .


ಇದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೂ , ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದ ವಿಷಯ ವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.


ಪ್ರಭಾವತಿ ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜ ಮುನಿಗಳ ಮಗಳು . ಈಕೆ  ದೇವತೆಗಳ ರಾಜ  ಇಂದ್ರನಿಗೆ ಮ ನಸೋಲು ತ್ತಾಳೆ . ಅವನನ್ನೇ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಲು ಹಠ ಹಿ ಡಿ ಯುತ್ತಾಳೆ . ಇಂದ್ರ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಅದರಂತೆ ಅವನು ವೇಷ ಬದಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆ . ಅವನ ಬಳಿ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ಎಲೈಚಿ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳಿರು ತ್ತವೆ .


ಆತ ಪ್ರಭಾವತಿ ಯ ಬಳಿ ಬಂದು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಬೇಯಿಸಿ ಕೊಡಲು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ . ಕಪಟವರಿಯದ ಪ್ರಭಾವತಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಬೇಯಿಸಿ ಕೊಡಲು ಒಪ್ಪುತ್ತಾಳೆ .


ಆದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಹೊತ್ತು ಬೇಯಿಸಿದರೂ ಹಣ್ಣು ಗಳು ಬೇಯು ತ್ತನೆ ಇಲ್ಲ . ತಂ ದ ಉರುವಲು ಎಲ್ಲ ಖಾಲಿಯಾಯಿತು . ಆದರೆ ಹಣ್ಣು ಗಳು ಹಾ ಗೇ ಇವೆ.


ತನಗೆ ಇದೊಂದು ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದ ಪ್ರಭಾವತಿ ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲನ್ನೇ ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯ ಮಧ್ಯ ಇಟ್ಟು ಉರುವಲಾಗಿ  ಬಳಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ .


ಆಗ ಇಂದ್ರ ತನ್ನ ನೈಜ ರೂಪ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಭಾವತಿ ಯನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ .

Why do we get tears when we cough ?

Tears in the eye , are made all  the time . They help to moisten the eye and flush away the dirt . Usually these tears  drain away through tiny tear ducts .

When we blink , tears sweep across the eyes keeping the eyes moist and clean . We blink when we cough , sneeze and yawn .


If the tears forms faster than it can drain , that time it rolls down our cheeks . We can observe that every time when we cough , tears will not come out . It is only when its formation is faster than its draining .

Why do people have white spots on their nails ?

We often see white spots on our finger nails . This is a very common issue and entirely harmless .

The exact cause for these white spots is not known . Most common cause is injury to the nail bed . These injuries can occur when we pinch or strike our nail or finger .

Mineral deficiency is the one more cause . Zinc deficiency and calcium deficiency are most commonly linked to this  issue .

These white spots , most of them , will disappear on their own without treatment . We must protect our nails as best as we can . Also we must eat a balanced diet and maintain adequate levels of vitamins to prevent white spots on nails .

Prankster little Ganesh troubled God Vishnu !!

 This happened when God Ganesh was a small kid . God Ganesh was a prankster . He used to trouble his mother Goddess Parvati a lot . Though she was scolding him for what he did , she was also enjoying it .

One day God Ganesh was alone in the house . No friends to be seen . So he came outside and playing with himself . That time he heard the loud sound of someone blowing a conch .

Ganesh was highly impressed by the sound . He never heard the sound before . He went in search of the source of sound . It was coming from Vaikuntha .

Vaikuntha is the place where his uncle God Vishnu resides . The place is not unfamiliar to him . He directly went inside to know what is happening .

There Ganesh saw his uncle God Vishnu blowing the conch . He hid himself in a corner and stood watching his uncle . After some time , unaware of Ganesh's presence , God Vishnu kept conch aside and started meditating .

Ganesh came near conch and lifted it . Without disturbing his uncle he was on his way to home . After completing his meditation, God Vishnu opened his eyes . 

He looked for his conch . It was not seen anywhere . This made God Vishnu a bit anxious . That time itself , he heard someone blowing conch repetitively . God Vishnu was sure that it is his missing conch . Sound was coming from kailash .

God Vishnu hurriedly went to Kailash which is also the home of his nephew Ganesh . There he saw Ganesh playing with conch by blowing it continuously .

God Vishnu came near Ganesh and patted him affectionately . Then he asked Ganesh to give the conch to him as it belongs to him . But Ganesh refused !!

God Vishnu tried to divert Ganesh's attention on some other object . But Ganesh was very adamant and was not at all ready to shift his focus on other things .

God Vishnu was exhausted by this time . He went inside the house . There he saw Ganesh's parents God Shiva and Goddess Parvati . God Vishnu went near them and complained that Ganesh is playing with his conch and refusing to return it .

God Shiva thought for some time and said if God Vishnu pleases him by some way then Ganesh will give the conch in return .  Likewise God Vishnu recited shlokas praising God Ganesh and showered flowers on him .

By this time , Ganesh was pleased and he returned the conch to God Vishnu .

Monsoon has arrived...

 Since yesterday , it is raining in our locality . Actually still I am confused whether the rains are because of monsoon or not . 

First of all , it started with cyclone taukte . We had rains . After that rains didn't stop . Then came cyclone yaas . We had rains at that time also .

In the month of May which is the sunny month , we had rains . All this is happening because of global warming .

Summer season has become the rainy season . Now June month has begun . Scientists are saying that monsoon has arrived .

But whatever it is , one question always puzzles me . That is how come Bangalore having the rain throughout the year ? Still complaining of water shortage !!

Why does throat itches after eating patrode ( taro leaves ) ?

 Today my mother prepared "patrode ( ಪತ್ರೊಡೆ )" from taro leaves. ( ಕೆಸುವಿನ ಎಲೆ ) . It is usually prepared during rainy season .

My mother prefers tiny and young taro leaves when preparing patrode . I asked her the reason . She said grown leaves when eating makes our throat itchy .

Even I had experienced itchy throat once when eating patrode . I was curious to know why it is ?

Taro leaves are low calorie leafy greens which are high in fiber , potassium , folate and vitamins . 

But there is one major precaution to be aware of when eating taro leaves ,  their toxicity level .

Taro leaves have a high oxalate content which is a naturally occurring compound  found in many plants . Many vegetables such as spinach , beans and others also contain this oxalates but in very less amount that we won't experience any poisonous effects .

Older taro leaves contain more amount of oxalates than the younger ones . But both are poisonous when consumed raw .

To deactivate the poisonous oxalate content of taro leaves , they must be cooked properly till the leaves become soften .

That's why my mother steam cooks the patrode . 

How did Birbal identified the real king ?

 Once Birbal was assigned the job of going to neighbouring kingdom as an ambassador . Birbal never had been to that kingdom earlier nor he had met with the king of that kingdom .

The king of neighbouring kingdom had heard many stories of wisdom of Birbal and how Birbal manages to find a solution for each and every problem

King wanted to test Birbal . He asked all his ministers to dress up like him . The challenge for Birbal is to find out who is the real king amongst them .

Birbal was unaware of all these . He entered the court . He was surprised by watching all the persons present in the court room to be dressed as king .

He watched everyone closely . Finally went near a person and greeted him as the king . That person himself was the original king !!

The king was very curious to know how Birbal had managed to identify him ?

Birbal explained , " Only your face was beaming with confidence which is the unique character of a king . Leaving that behind , other men were looking at your face for further instructions and that made my inspection easy ! 

Neighbour king was speechless after hearing the inspection story of Birbal .

You are slave of my slaves !!

We know about Alexander , the great . He was very ambitious . He wanted to win whole world and be the invincible man .

Likewise he started from his place , Greece . He went on winning the countries in the eastern direction . Finally he came to India .


Alexander had learnt about sages of India . He believed that they have special powers . He wants to take one sage along with him to his country .


As soon as he entered ancient India , he came to know that in the neighbourhood there lives a sage . Alexander instructed a soldier to bring the sage to his court .


Soldier went near the sage and informed him that Alexander  , the great wants him to come to court . But the sage refused to do so .

Soldier returned to court and informed Alexander about the same . Alexander got angry by the indecency of sage and went near him with all of his force .


Alexander entered the hut of the sage . Sage had noticed the arrival of Alexander with all of his force . But he didn't move .


Alexander got furious at sage . He held his sword pointing to sage and asked the sage does he  know who is Alexander , the great ?


Sage replied with smile , " YOU ARE THE SLAVE OF MY SLAVES " . 

Alexander didn't know what to say . But now he has little calmed down and asked the sage to explain his saying . Then sage replied " I have gained control over my feelings . Hence they are my slaves . But you didn't conquer them . You easily get captured by them . That's why you are the slave of my slaves . "

Cyclone Tauktae leaves ....

 Cyclone Tauktae after doing lot of damage in coastal areas of our state finally left in the direction of Maharashtra and Gujarat States. It is expected to do landfall in Gujarat .

That means all this time , it was roaming over Arabian sea . But the cyclonic clouds has covered the sky of our area completely since 2 days .

Since 2 days , it was almost total darkness in our area . Whatever people say about the damage caused by cyclone , I am thankful to cyclone Tauktae .

It is the middle of the month of May . Only the people live in coastal areas know the heat of scorching sun along with humidity . Result is unbearable sweating .

Now since 2 days , climate of our place has suddenly changed . Now it is very cool outside . 

Our place has become ANOTHER OOTY !!!       all thanks to the cyclone .

Why we don't use copper vessels for cooking ?

 In ancient India , people were using copper utensils for cooking . But nowadays we don't use . Why ?

There is an interesting story behind this . During last century , Indians were using copper utensils for cooking . Children who had food often fell ill . Nobody came to know about the cause .

Finally we discovered that this illness was due to consumption of copper . The copper particles found in more than usual amount getting accumulated in liver .

What actually happened was Indian mothers used to heat the milk in copper utensils . When milk was boiled for the first time , small amount of copper got mixed with milk .

All Indian mothers have the habit of using the same milk which was bought from the shop in the morning through out the day . So in the above said case also , milk was heated again and again and was given to children for drinking .

Though small amount of copper got mixed with milk whenever milk was heated , these copper particles started to get accumulated in human liver .

It is bad to have anything in excess . The accumulated copper in liver was the cause of illness children were facing . But it was not the food poisoning .

That's why nowadays we don't use copper vessels for cooking .

Anjanaparvan , grandson of Bhima

Anjanaparvan was the grandson of Bhima and his asura wife Hidimbi . Meaning he is the son of Ghatotkach .


As he is an asura , meaning demon by birth , Anjanaparvan was very good at performing war with the help of illusions .


He came to the Kurukshetra battle ground when it was almost sunset . He was confronted with Ashwatthama who was heading the Kourava army .


At first , he threw a mace towards Ashwatthama . By illusion  , it became 1000 maces when it reached Ashwatthama . But Ashwatthama was able to escape that one .


Then Ashwattama aimed at Anjanaparvan's chest and threw some arrows . But they didn't pierce his chest . Anjanapurvan's chest was very hard that no weapon could piece it .


Finally , Ashwatthama beheaded him .

The 3 curses that resulted in Karna's death in battle ground

Karna , a tragic hero of Mahabharata , was a self made person . Though he is the son of Kunti , he was not awarded the prestige he was worth of .


Here are the 3 curses that Karna got and they went against him in the Kurukshetra war thus responsible for his death .


1. Curse of mother Earth

Once Karna had tried to help a small girl who has split the ghee on ground . She was crying fearing that her mother will scold her . That time , Karna tried to help the girl by trying to retrieve the lost ghee from squeezing and twisting the ground . The pain originated because of this twisting was unbearable and mother Earth cursed Karna for this act .


She cursed him saying that in an important situation like battle , she will not assist him . As a result , in kurukshetra war , the wheel of chariot of Karna got stuck in the mud . His efforts to free the wheel went in vain .

2 . Curse of the teacher

Karna was the student of Parashurama . When joining the ashram ,Karna lied to his teacher saying that he is a brahmin . Actually he is a kshatriya . Parashuram came to know of this and he cursed Karna that whatever he has learned from him , will not come to his help when he needs it the most .



3 . Curse of an oldman


Once Karna had shot and killed a cow mistaking it as a wild animal . The caretaker of the animal , an oldman ,  cursed Karna in grief saying that he will be killed by his enemy when his attention was diverted .


Same way , Karna got killed by his enemy Arjuna when all of his attention was at lifting the wheel of the chariot which got stuck in mud . He could not remember how to use the weapons at that time . 

Everyone is fond of giving free advice .......

There was a famous painter living in Italy . His drawings were very famous . He was appreciated for his drawings throughout the world .



One day he had drawn a new drawing . He asked his colleagues to pinpoint the mistakes , if there are any , to him .



Everyone who saw the painting were of the opinion that it is the master piece . How can there would be a mistake in a famous painter's work ?



But the painter didn't agree . He put the painting in the exhibition with a small note saying that  if the onlooker find any mistake , they are free to mark the mistake in the painting itself !



As soon as he gave this message to the public , everyone turned masters of drawing . Now everyone started to see one or the other mistakes in the painting !!


That time the painter realised that everyone is good at giving free advice on others work .

What is the difference between truth and false ?

This is the question for which everyone wants to know the answer . Answer is very simple . 

THERE IS JUST 4 INCHES OF DISTANCE BETWEEN THESE TWO .

I will explain how . Actually 4 inches is the distance between eyes and ears in human face .

Whatever we hear from our ears most of the times , it is false . But whatever we see from our eyes is always true . 

Nowadays we see and hear false or fake news only . So if we see or hear anything , we must verify it .

Why do toothpaste affects the taste of food after brushing teeth ?

Soon after brushing the teeth , if we taste food ; it tastes not of its original taste , but tasteless . Now what is the reason for this ?


We brush our teeth and afterwards we rinse our mouth with the water . But after rinsing also , there will be little residual amount of toothpaste left on the teeth and gums . Rinsing will not completely eliminate them .



Our toothpaste contains an ingredient called SLS or Sodium Laureth Sulphate . This is responsible for the foam we get when we brush our teeth .


Now this ingredient suppresses our taste buds present on the tongue . This effect will be there for one to two hours of brushing the teeth .



But eating soon afterwards brushing the teeth is not advisable . As long as the power of toothpaste retained in the mouth , till that time germs attack will not be possible on teeth .

Story of Shravana Kumar

Long ago , there lived a boy named Shravan Kumar . He was very unfortunate because his both parents were blind . He had to look after them and also do the house hold work .



But he never complained . He was caring for his parents with atmost devotion and with responsibility . He was finding happiness in that work .


Days passed . His parents wanted to go on a pilgrimage . Shravan Kumar happily got readied to take them on pilgrimage .


He was carrying both his parents on his shoulders with a device which can hold both of them on either sides . Likewise they went for pilgrimage .


When they were nearing Ayodhya  , they had to pass through a forest . That time his parents felt thirsty and wanted to drink water .

Shravan Kumar made them to sit comfortably under a tree . Then he went in search of the river so that he can get the water .


He found the river and started filling water to container . That time itself , king of Ayodhya Dasharath had come for hunting .


King had a special power of hitting the target with his bow and arrow just by listening to the sound . He mistook the sound made by Shravan Kumar to that made by an animal and shot the arrow .


That arrow directly pierced into Shravan Kumar's chest . He started to scream in pain . Listening to that  , Dasharath came running and saw what he has done unknowingly .

King went near Shravan Kumar's parents with a heavy heart . On hearing the news of their son's death , Shravan kumar's  father cursed the king that he also should suffer the same pain as they are suffering because of son's departure .

Much awaited summer rain finally in udupi

 All these days, whenever I was opening the newspaper, I was welcomed by the news articles relating to the rain in Dakshina Kannada District and in many parts of Karnataka . I was having the jealous feeling whenever I read 'rain in Dakshina Kannada  '.

Our udupi District was part of Dakshina Kannada District till some time ago. This news we humans know . But who said the news to rain clouds that we 2 Districts have got separated and the time of rain coming down must be separated from each other ?

After suffering from sweat and heat all these days, finally yesterday night we received the first summer rain . 

I suffered the most in these days . I sweat a lot . Sweat is coming from all parts of the body from head to feet . My hair was smelly because of this sweat . 

 I wear spectacles . Just one week back, because of the accumulated sweat on my nose  , my spectacles had come down to my nose tip . Before I could place it back to its original position,, my specs were on ground . 

But no damage was done . My specs were safe . Yesterday night it was rained . But since today morning,, I felt like taking shower as many times as I can  . Because water is cold and chill .. 

Why do we have red colour eye after crying ?

First  , why do eyes get red ? The tissues of eyes need oxygen and nutrients . They have blood supplying vessels . When our eyes are at their usual white  , these blood vessels are not dilated . When our eyes become red  , these blood vessels become dilated . Hence the redness i.e. the blood vessels become visible compared to the usual white background of eye .


Lacrimal glands are responsible for keeping our eyes moist . Extra secretion of fluid from these glands results in tears . When we cry , the blood vessels to these glands become dilated so that to provide extra nutrients to these glands .

The increased blood flow in these dilated blood vessels around the eye is responsible for the redness of the eyes .

Comedy story : Mulla Naseeruddeen plan to save a man on tree

Once a man started to climb up a tree . But he made the miscalculation of how tall is the tree ? The tree was very tall than the man had expected . Now he is at the top of the tree . He was getting goosebumps when he looked down .


But he wanted to come down . He started yelling for help . People gathered around the tree and all were looking up. No one knew how to help the man to get down the tree .


That time , Mulla Naseeruddeen was passing by .Hearing the noise , he came to the spot and understood the situation .

He said he knows an idea to help the man to get down the tree . He asked for a long rope . He held one side of rope and threw the other side up above . He asked the man on the tree to catch it .


He asked the man to tie the rope around his waist . As the man completed it , mulla pulled the other end of the rope so hard that man actually fell down from top of the tree and got badly hurt .

Now remaining people started accusing Mulla for what he has done . That time puzzled Mulla replied ," I used the same trick when a man got stuck inside a well . I successfully helped the man to come out . But here the trick didn't work !! "

The final match of series won by India

 Yesterday was the day of final match of 3 match series. The series was at 1 - 1 as both the teams India and England had won each matches.

As usual Indian captain Kohli lost the toss and had to bat first . The opening Indian batsmen did the partnership of 100 runs . India has posted a sum of 329 runs on score board with the help of half centuries made by both Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant . In the death overs  , Shardul Thakur has hit some explosive sixes and boundaries .

The real excitement of match starts when England started chasing .. This time English openers departed early . Everything was going fine till Sam Curren came to bat . Till he was on crease, I was literally sat on the edge of sofa . It was very difficult to predict who is going to be champion . 

I will give a little glimpse of England chasing and how it made me to sit on the edge of the sofa . 

79 runs required for England from 78 balls . 

77 runs in 72 balls

At this time   , a wicket has fallen . England is 8 wickets down now .

Decider match between India and England

 Today is the second ODI between India and England . This ODI series is having only 3 matches . With India winning the first match , today's match itself is the deciding match . To keep the series alive , England has to win this match .

After winning the toss , England opted for fielding first . Quite surprising . Indian batsmen each and everyone has scored except Dhawan . Rahul has hit a century . Kohli and Panth enjoyed scoring half centuries .

India has scored a huge total of 336/6 . I started to watch the match from 40th over . At that time , Rahul and Rishabh Pant were playing . I witnessed the moment of Rahul's century and Pant' half century . Rahul got out at 108 . Then came Hardik Pandya .

As both Pant and Pandya both like to hit scoring shots , it is a delight to watch them . Finally India end their innings with 336 runs .

Now looking back at the history , England had chased and won the score of 266 runs that too in 1970s . Now it is 2021 and England has to chase down a total of 336 runs . Only English top order batsmen got clicked and their middle order has failed so far .

What I mean to say is India will win the match and also the series against England ..

First one day International cricket match

 Test  , T20 cricket matches between India and England are over. Now it is the time for the one day matches of 50 overs.

England had won the toss and chose to field first . India started with openers Rohit Sharma and Shikher Dhawan. 

Dhawan went on to score 98 runs just missed century by 2 runs. Shreyas aiyyer Kohli entertained with their batting . Only Hardik Pandya disappointed as he was able to score just 1 run. 

India has scored a huge total of 317 runs . It has happened because of batsmen duo Rahul and Krinal Pandya. 

Out of them,, Krinal Pandya was aggressive in facing the balls . He has become the fastest to score a half century . 

I strongly recommend to watch any one day match when 40th over begins. It is the time of last power play and it is the time when batsmen will start hitting boundaries and sixes so that they can increase the run rate and also score as many runs as they can . 

Even this match was not different . 

Sarvam Kohli mayam...

 Day before yesterday was the decider T20 cricket match between India and England. Finally Rahul was removed as the opening batsman and Kohli himself came as the opening batsman along with Rohit sharma . This change in the batting line got clicked . Hardik Pandya came early to bat replacing Rishabh Pant . These small changes resulted in the form of huge total of 224 runs .

England must have been repenting their decision of fielding first . Because Indian batsmen scored big just losing 4 wickets . England started their innings with a bang hitting the ball all around the ground. 

 By looking at the start they have got,, I thought they are going to win the match .. But after the departure of opening batsmen   , England went on sinking and finally they have lost the match..

For India  , it is Kohli who went on to score 80 runs . He along with Hardik Pandya scored good amount of runs in the death overs which resulted in the huge score . 

My prediction was wrong ....

 Before to yesterday's T20 cricket match between India and England , I had predicted many things for the loss of India in last 3 matches . The main part was about the pitch .

By looking at the results of last 2 matches , I thought the team which wins toss and choose to field first will win the match . But yesterday India did the batting first and did the fielding later . But also India has won the match .

I agree that I was pessimistic when I saw Indian batsmen entering the ground first . That time itself ,  I had decided that India is going to lose this match.

But when I saw Rohit Sharma hitting the sixer at the first ball itself , I started watching the match . Even Rahul has scored more than single digit !

But Rohit Sharma got out by giving the catch to bowler himself . Then came the debutant Surya Kumar Yadav . As soon as he came , he started his batting form by hitting a six .

He is the only batsman to score a 50+ run . Then rest of the batsmen also contributed . India has posted a challengeable score . After seeing this , I thought this score is not going to be a problem for English batsmen as they have many hard hitting batsmen .

After thinking like this , I switched off t.v. and went to bed . When I woke up in the morning , I came to know that India has won the match by 8 runs.

It must had been a nail biting finish to the match . I missed all the action live though I have watched the highlights . 

Moral : Effort is more important than prediction .

Why did India lose the 3rd T20 cricket match?

Yesterday it was 3rd T20 cricket match between India and England . India has lost the match by 8 wickets . I have watched the first half of the match. These things together resulted in the defeat according to me .

1. We were unable to win the toss . Just have a look at the previous two matches. Whoever has won the toss  , elected to field first . In the first match, England won the toss and chose to field first . They won the game. In the 2nd match  ,  India had won the toss and chose to field first . India has won the game. But in yesterday's match, England had won the toss. We lost.

Moral : try to win the toss and choose to field first.

2. Even though, Rahul was a failure in past 2 matches, selection Committee allowed him to play in the 3rd match. Why?

3. The run out of Rishabh Pant. Captain Kohli wanted to take the impossible 3rd run. Rishabh Pant was playing good. He became the scapegoat . 

4. The wonder boy Ishan Kishan was unable to score big . 

If Hardik Pandya was not there in the playing team , India would not reach the total of 100 runs . He was the only batsman to assist Kohli in the other end . 

When India was made to bat first and lost Rahul quickly, that time itself I had figured out that India would lose the match . But when English batsman Butler started to hit scoring shots, it was clear who is going to win the match .

Magic of Ishan Kishan

 Yesterday it was the 2nd T20 cricket match between England and India . As India has lost the first match against England  , this match was necessary to get back on winning track for India .

Thank god that India has won the toss and elected to field first . Bowlers did the good job . But Indian fielding was not up to the mark . English batsmen could easily score boundaries and sixers.

England has given the target of 165 runs to India . But opening batsman Rahul was out in the first over itself. That time score card read 0/1. I began to think that this is the beginning of india's down crash .

That time remaining opening  batsman Ishan Kishan came to crease . He is the new entry to Indian batting line up . Yesterday match was his first international cricket match .

He didn't showed any nervousness in facing the balls . He started to hit boundaries and sixers which eventually let down the tension of required run rate . On the other end  , it was captain Kohli who got inspired by Ishan 's fireworks  , also started to hit shots. 

Ishan soon completed his first 50 in his first international cricket match . That time India was already in a good place to win the match . Soon after Ishan' s departure  , Rishabh Pant had come to the crease and hit some scoring shots .

That time I was confident that India will definitely win the match . Same thing happened and India levelled the 5 match series by 1 - 1 . 

Why do we worship God Shiva as Shivaling not as an idol?

 We Hindus worship God Shiva in the form of Shivaling and not as idol of God Shiva . As today is Maha Shivaratri, here is the story regarding this.

Sage Bhrigu once wanted to meet trimurthis. They're God Brahma  , God Shiva and God Vishnu.I talk about only God Shiva . 

When Brighu maharishi has come to Kailasa, divine couple God Shiva and Goddess Parvati were in their private room . So when Sage Bhrigu wanted to enter into the house  , doorkeeper Nandi stopped him saying that divine couple are in their private room .

This made the sage angry thinking that God Shiva is dishonouring his true devotees . In rage   , sage Brighu cursed God Shiva that from now onwards no one will worship him in his true form that is in the form of idol . 

But people will worship him in the form of shapeless stone that is Shivaling . 

From that day onwards    , God Shiva is being worshipped in the form of Shivaling by the people .

India has won the test series

 Today is the last day 3rd day of last test cricket match in the series of 4 matches. India had lost the the first match against England in chennai . But it bounced back and had won the next match held in the same place

Coming back to today's match  , yesterday match was full of twists . At one point of time  , India was struggling to reach the score of 205 runs made by England . At that time  , Rishabh Pant steadied the  sinking Indian batting with his 101 runs..

Today again it is the show of Indian batting strength . Today it was Washington Sunder who scored 96 not out and just missed his first hundred by just 4 runs . I was watching the match with the hope that today we can witness another century by Indians . But Sunder didn't get support from the other end . 

I was hoping that Mohammed Siraj would help Sundar to. reach the century but he was the last man to get out leaving Sundar at 96 runs . 

English second innings proved that they cannot play against spinners . Today England could not gain the lead. They have suffered the innings and 24 run loss . 

 India has won the match and also won the series by 3 - 1. 

Dream run by Akshar Patel

 Today is the last that is the 4th test cricket match between England and India . England had won the toss and decided to bat first .

But England's opening 3 batsmen did not prove their captain's decision right to bat first . England has lost their first 3 wickets quickly.

But batsmen came next showed the guts to stay in the crease . 

Indian bowling was superb as they didn't allow any partnership to build . Akshar Patel today also continued his dream run in bowling as he was successful in getting 4 wickets. 

The cricket pitch this time supported fast bowling too as Mohammed Siraj got 2 important wickets of English batsmen . Finally England were all out for 205 runs . They have crossed 200 runs mark for the first time in last 4 innings .

Slaying of Kirmira by Bhima

Kirmira is a demon who appears in Mahabharata . He is the brother of Bakasura and a good friend of Hidimba . Both  Bakasura and Hidimba were killed by Bhima .

Kirmira came to know of the death of his brother and friend and he developed wrath against Bhima after knowing that he is the killer of both .

Pandavas in exile stayed in a forest which was already inhabited by Kirmira . After knowing the identities of Pandavas , he targeted Bhima and started throwing big trees and stones on him .

Both started grappling each other showing their prowess . Fierce battle happened . Bhima caught Kirmira by his waist and started whirling him around .

Kirmira soon became exhausted and fainted . At that time , Bhima killed him by tearing his chest .

Annihilated England dig their own grave

 Third test cricket match between India and England is going to end today that is the 2nd day itself !

England second innings was miserable and no batsmen could stand firmly at the crease . On a spinner friendly pitch , Indian spinning duo axar patel and ashwin spinned their web over England and they were all out for just 81 runs .

They have given the target of 49 runs to India to win the third test match . India surely going to reach the target today itself and will win the match .

Axar Patel has started the destruction of English second innings . They had lost their openers when the score card was reading 0 runs ! 

Ashwin has become the fourth bowler who has taken 400 wickets . India has already scored 11 runs out of 49 runs which are needed to score to win this match .

Can't believe . .. What is happening ?

 Today is the second day of 3rd test against England . As England had won the toss and elected to bat first , I didn't watch yesterday's game   . Also it is a day and night match . My eyes will shutdown automatically after 9 pm .

So today afternoon I switched on tv . That time India were 113/3 . Rohit Sharma and Rahane were at the crease . Sharma was 66 . I thought these two will score runs and will help India to post a big total . 

I thought like that and went to have my lunch . When I returned , I had a emotionally breakdown . Why ? India were 130/8 !

Just in a gap of 15 runs , India had lost 5 important wickets . It is difficult to believe . The culprit is spinner friendly pitch . Yesterday when English batsmen could not stand Indian spinners , I didn't imagined that next day itself out side is also going to have the same situation .

Answer got backfired ....

It was a school in a remote and quite place . Classes were going on . A teacher was giving dictation to students . Suddenly , he felt sleepy and sat down on the chair and fell asleep leaning on table .


Students were surprised by this and started doing fun of teacher . That time itself , teacher got awake . He was ashamed that he fell asleep during the class hours and infront of students .

But he was not ready to get embarrassed . Hence , he cooked up a story and said to students that he was actually not sleeping . He went to dreamland to clarify his doubts with his seniors .


Students seemed to have agreed with this . After many days of this incident , same teacher caught a student who was sleeping during his lecture .


On questioning  , the student replied , "  I went to the same dream land where you had been . But there was no one there . So I returned in empty hand "!


By now , teacher realized that his words are backfiring him . So he kept quiet .

Different from others.

 As I was saying yesterday in my blog ,India has put a mammoth total of 482 runs as the target to win for England . Still 2 more days of play is there . I don't think England would be able to score that many runs courtesy the cricket pitch .

In today's match , Indian second innings was highlighted by the century ( 103 runs ) of Ashwin . Ashwin is a spin bowler plus he can bat too . In the first bowling session of India , he has taken 4 wickets of English batting line .

Today he has scored a century . These facts many of us by this time ate aware of . I thought of doing something different . So I am writing about last batsman of Indian side , Mohammed Siraj . 

He came to crease when Ashwin was about to hit the century . When Ashwin had hit the century  , Mohammed Siraj was seen celebrating as though he had hit the century .

Not only this  , Mohammed Siraj himself had hit 2 big Sixers . It was evident that Indian side is tension free and so am I . It is difficult for England to draw the match also as still 2 more days of playing is remaining .

Today is india's day !!

 Today is the 2nd day of second test cricket match between India and England . Yesterday India had wrapped up their playing with 300/6 . They added 29 more runs to their innings and were all out .

Next starts England story of sadness . The cricket pitch is supporting spinners . Hence Indian skipper Kohli asked only 3 bowlers to bowl. Ishant Sharma , Axar Patel and Ashwin .

The magic done by these were such that no English batsmen could reach 30 runs . England were all out for just 134 runs . After English first innings , India too have started their second innings . They are 54/1 with a lead of 249 runs .

One thing is sure for this match . That is this match is not going to get draw and India has the highest possibility of winning this match and from now only I am feeling happy !!!

Why did I switch on tv ?

Today afternoon I was watching news channel on tv . That time , a newsbyte was rolling on the screen . It read England has finished playing their second innings and set the target of 420 runs for India to win . 

I thought now it is going to be interesting . Still one full day to play and 10 wickets in hand for India ! 

I changed the tv channel and started watching match . Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill were playing . But as soon as I started watching the match , Rohit Sharma got out !! 

I felt very bad . If I didn't start watching the match , Rohit Sharma would not get out . I did a great mistake . To rectify my mistake , I decided not to watch remaining match .

 Through news channel , I came to know that India were 37/1 when the match was ended .

ಶ್ರೀರಾಮ ನ ಕಥೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆ . ರಾಮನಿಗೆ4 ಜನ ತಮ್ಮಂದಿರು . ಅವರೇ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ , ಭರತ ಮತ್ತು ಶತೃಘ್ನ.

ರಾಮ ವನವಾಸ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ . ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆ ಸುಭಿಕ್ಷೆ . ಹೀಗಿರಲು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಲವಣ ಎಂಬ ಅಸುರ ಮತ್ತು ಆತನ ಉಪಟಳ ದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ .


ಲವಣ ನ ಬಳಿ ಒಂದು ತ್ರಿಶೂಲ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ . ಇದನ್ನು ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ ಶಿವನೇ ಆತನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ವರವಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿ ರು ತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅದು ಯಾರ ಬಳಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೋ , ಅವರನ್ನು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಲಿಸಲು ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ .

ಈ ವರದಿಂದ ಲವಣ ಲೋಕ ಕಂಟಕ ನಾಗಿ ಇರುತ್ತಾನೆ . ರಾಮ ಇದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಸೋದರ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲು , ಶತೃಘ್ನ ತಾನು ಲವಣ ನ ವಧೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ನಿಲ್ಲು ತ್ತಾನೆ .


ಆಗ ರಾಮ ಶತೃಘ್ನ ನ ಬಳಿ ಆತನ ಸಂಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಉಪಾಯ ದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ . ಏನೆಂದರೆ ಲವಣ ತನ್ನ ತ್ರಿಶೂಲ ವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಗುಪ್ತ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಾನೆ , ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂಜೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ನಂತರವೇ ಆತ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರುವುದು . ಆ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೇ ಮೊದಲು ಆತನನ್ನು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಆತ ತ್ರಿಶೂಲ ವನ್ನು ಮರೆತು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆ . ಆಗ ಆತನನ್ನು ಸಾಯಿ ಸಬಹುದು .



ಶತೃಘ್ನ ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿ ಲವಣ ನ ವಧೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

Who is the great devotee ?

It was the time when the Kurukshetra war got ended . Pandavas had won the battle and got their land back too .

Now Arjuna had developed a feeling that it is because of him , Pandavas have won the battle . It is because of his skill in archery and also because of the divine arrows he got from God Shiva himself , Pandavas have managed to win the battle .



Arjuna started to worship God Shiva as a token of thanks to him . He built a big temple of God Shiva . Daily he used to worship God by offering huge quantity of flowers and in a grand way .


Krishna came to know of Arjuna's ego and decided to crush it . So he suggested Arjuna that they go to Kailash to see how Arjuna's prayers being received from the God Shiva himself .


They both started their journey . When they are about to reach Kailash , they observed huge quantity of flowers are getting dumped into quarries . Arjuna looked at Krishna with a smile and said him that these are the flowers he offered in the morning .


Krishna decided to ask the Labourer , who offered these flowers ? Labourer replied that Bhim has offered these flowers and daily he does . Flowers are in such a huge quantity that there is no space left in Kailash to dump them .


That time Arjuna said that he himself had offered these flowers and not Bhim . But labourer sticked to his words . Then they both returned .



Next morning , Krishna and Arjuna both went near Bhim to have a look at the pooja he is preparing .



Pooja of Bhim was very simple . He took a bath and came near Shivling . He closed his eyes and chanted Om Namah Shivaya , 9 times with pure devotion . That's all .


By watching this , Arjuna got ashamed of his type of worshipping . Worship has to be done through the mind not by showing off .

What are we teaching our children ?

 Yesterday I was watching a quiz show on TV for school children . This week itself we celebrated republic day . Quiz program was organised on the facts of our independence and democracy .One question was there regarding the first independence struggle of India . We all know it happened on the year 1857.

Though the British called it as revolt and brushed away as the internal matter within army , this incident sowed the seeds to seek complete independence from British .

The question was who called the incident of 1857 as the first independence struggle ? Quite easy question . Everyone knows that it was Vinayak Savarkar .The student could not answer the question . 

Finally quiz master revealed the answer and asked her what she know about Savarkar ?The answer she gave totally shocked me . She said Savarkar was a terrorist !!! 

I didn't know what to say about that ? I kept on thinking where we are heading to ? If our children think all the freedom fighters are terrorists , there is no meaning for the independence we are enjoying now .

Don't give anything without thinking !

 This story I read it in a Kannada newspaper . I found it funny yet relatable to present day situations . I thought I will recreate in my own words .



We know the thrimurthies in Hinduism . They all are married .

They are -----

 God Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi
  God Brahma and Goddess Saraswati
    God Shiva and Goddess Parvati


Once , all the 3 goddesses met together and they were sharing their happiness and sorrows .


Goddess Lakshmi said , " I have a big house in Vaikuntha . 2 door keepers  ( Jaya and Vijaya ) are guarding our house . Milk sea itself is our house ."

 Goddess Saraswati also described her house , how big it is . Now it is the turn of Goddess Parvati . But she don't own a proper house like everyone else . She and God Shiva live under a tree .


She couldn't say anything . Insulted as she was , she returned to Kailash . She saw her husband , God Shiva meditating .


She got angry on her husband . She said how much she was got insulted while chitchatting with her sisters . Later she pressurised her husband to do something on that matter .


No husband can say NO to his wife's demands . Likewise , God Shiva called the architect Vishwakarma and asked him to build a large , beautiful house for him .


Vishwakarma agreed and accordingly built the house . Now  Parvati is very happy . Now she is planning to organize a lavish house warming ceremony and busy in calling the other fellow gods .


Everything was planned . God Shiva decided to call  demon king as well as a great brahmin Ravana to grace the occasion as a purohit .


Ravana agreed . Function was a huge success . Everyone was surprised to see the beauty of the newly created house .


God Shiva and Goddess Parvati were very happy . God Shiva decided to honour purohith Ravana according to his wish . God Shiva asked Ravana to ask anything as a reward .



Ravana politely refused the offer . But God Shiva insisted . Then Ravana asked the newly constructed house of God Shiva itself as the reward !!!


Without thinking , God Shiva said Thasthastu meaning yes . Next second itself , the Devine couple God Shiva and Goddess Parvati were standing under the tree !!!!!
