ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೇ ಕಾಲ : ಮಳೆಗಾಲ ಮತ್ತು ಬೇಸಿಗೆಕಾಲ ;

A folk tale

                                   A folk tale

Long ago, there lived duo of brothers. Elder brother is very rich. But not younger. Elder brother threw his brother  out of his house. Younger brother for his living, was cutting dead trees in forest and selling them in market. One day, when he was working, he saw a wounded sparrow struggling to fly. He lifted the sparrow with sympathy and brought sparrow to his house.
He treated it well with medicines. Soon sparrow was feeling fine and was about to leave. Before to that in gratitude, it gave  younger brother a seed and asked him to plant it. Likewise, he did. It has grown up to become a big tree. It was full of fruits.
Younger brother plucked a fruit. When he opened it, it was full of diamonds. Younger brother was very happy. By selling them, his powerty vanished and he became rich. His elder brother got jealous of him. Even he went to forest. But he could not find the wounded sparrow.
Tired as he is, he shot a stone to a sparrow and wounded it. Now, he brought the wounded sparrow to his house  and treated its wound. Soon ,sparrow became allright. Even this sparrow gave elder brother a seed and asked him to plant it. Elder brother happily did that dreaming that he will become even more rich. Seed has grown up to a big tree.
Even it is full of fruits. Elder brother plucked one of fruits and cut it. Alas ! it is full of sand. Each and every fruit is of same character. Elder brother soon lost all his wealth too.

Why goddess Kali has elongated tongue?

Why goddess Kali has elongated tongue?

In the photos of Goddess Kali, it is always shown that she is having an elongated tongue. There is a story behind that.
There was a demon called Rakta Beejasur. He had been granted a special boon that if a single drop of his blood touches ground, then twice of his replicas will be born with much more strength ! This boon made him invincible in battle field.
Everyone tried to defeat him. But because of his boon, their effort is going in vain. So all of them prayed to Goddess Durga to help them. Durga faught with demon. But even she was tired soon. There would be many more demons as soon as his blood touches ground.
Durga took the form of Kali. She started to fight. Now she is aware that demon's blood must not touch ground. For that reason, as soon as demon got wounded and started to bleed, Kali elongated her tongue and covered whole ground.
Since his blood didnt touch ground, Kali could easily defeat and kill the demon. That's why in the pictures of Goddess it is been shown that she is having elongated tongue.

Mother told everything to maid . Maid said if mother can find a hanger, using that, car door can be opened. To her good luck, mother found a broken hanger nearby. But she doesnt know how to open car door using a hanger. Maid also could not explain correctly.
With no other way out, mother waited for some person to come on street . She prayed to God to help her. That time itself, a man wearing a faded trousers and shirt and with a unshaven face had come on bike. Mother thought, how can this man help whereas he only needs help !
But she guestured him to stop and explained her problem. She showed him the hanger also. Passerby assured her that he will help. In a fraction of a second, using the hanger he opened the car door. Mother was speechless. She thanked passerby and said that like an angel he had come to her rescue. She went on thanking him.
Passer by stopped her from thanking. He said he is no angel but a thief. He has experiance in opening car doors with a hanger and stealing valuable things inside the car. Police had caught him and he is out on parole now. He was going to meet his family.
Listening to that, mother was dumbfounded. God surely sent her a help but in a new and unexpected way!

Everyone knows God Ganesh rides on mouse. One day, this mouse sat in a corner and started to think "I carry God on my back.  So, he has to look after me. Today I will not go to find food. I sit chanting name of God. He will provide me food".
Like this thinking, he sat in a corner. A rabbit was his neighbour. Both were going together in search of food.  But today, mouse didnt come. Rabbit came looking for mouse. Rabbit was surprised by seeing mouse sitting in a corner. Rabbit asked for reason with mouse.
Mouse said everything with his friend. Even rabbit thought there is truth in it. He thought when mouse can get food just by chanting the name of God, why  should I work hard in order to quench my hunger?. Even he sat with mouse chanting name of God.
By seeing them sitting ,chanting name of God. a passerby which is a goat was surprised. He came near them asking the reason. When they told him the reason, goat started laughing. Goat said " It is true that God will look after us. But that does not mean that we must sit idle without doing any work. God will surely help if we chant his name when doing our work. So, our lazyness must not be a reason for chanting God's name. God will not like it".

Silence is the best medicine !

Silence is the best medicine !

One day a man came near Tenali Ramakrishna. He was worried that his peace of mind is lost all because of his arguing wife. He said to Ramakrishna all his problems. He asked Ramakrishna's help in solving his problem. Tenali Ramakrishna listened to man's saying. Then he said the problem can be solved and he has the medicine for that.
Man was very happy. He urged Ramakrishna to give that medicine. Ramakrishna went inside the house and came back with a bottle. He said to man that bottle has medicine. But as soon as his wife starts talking, man has to drink the medicine but not to swallow it.
Till his wife is talking, man has to keep the medicated liquid in his mouth without swallowing it. As  soon as wife stops talking, he has to spit the liquid outside. Man agreed and went home with liquid. Few days passed, man came near Ramakrishna and thanked him for the medicine. He said because of that, there is no quarrel in the house !
He asked Ramakrishna the way to prepare medicine.  Then Ramakrishna smiled and said that the bottle has no medicine but just water. When man's wife is talking, if man keep silence then matter will not go out of hand. Wife will talk as much as she wants. But seeing that no one is giving back reply or contradicting her, she will be quiet soon after.
Tenali Ramakrishna disclosed the secret of happiness and strength of silence.

True friendship

                                                 True friendship

Duryodhan was crowned prince of Hastinapur. Karna is his friend. Their friendship is well known. Here is the incident to show it.
Bhaanumati is Duryodhan's wife. Since Karna used to come to meet Duryodhan almost regularly, even Bhaanumati was close to Karna. Once Duryodhan was not at home and Bhaanumati was alone. Not knowing that, Karna came to meet Duryodhan.
When he learnt that his friend is not at home, Karna prepared to leave. But Bhaanumati asked him to stay back. She invited him to play Chess. Though Karna hesitated in beginning, finally he agreed to play. Both were playing chess and were engrossed in it.
That time, there was a bet between them. Whoever wins, they must obey the order of the other. Karna won in bet. When he was about to tell his wish, Duryodhan came inside. Bhaanumati stood up. Without knowing that, Karna tried to stop Bhaanumati.
In that process, the necklace Bhaanumati was wearing, tore and all the pearls fell down. By seeing that, Karna stood up and realised Duryodhan was standing. Without knowing what to do, Karna stood with his head bent down in shame.
But Duryodhan smiled and started picking up the pearls. Then he encouraged both his wife and friend to continue game. And also urged his wife to fulfill Karna's demand. This shows the confidence Duryodhan had in his friend and in his friendship.
