Death of Tarakasur

                                       Death of Tarakasur

Long ago, there lived a demon named Tarakusar. He was giving trouble to everyone. He was invincible. There is a reason for his attitude. He had been granted a boon that his death can only be by son of God Shiv. But actually wife of Shiv , Daakshayini had sacrificed herself to fire. It was in protest to negligence of her father to her husband, Shiv.
Now after her death, Shiv is in great grief. He was doing meditation. No one had the courage to break his meditation. Tarakusar being knowing this, had asked for the boon that his death must be because of son of Shiv, whereas Shiv is now single.
But Daakshayini had born again as Parvati. She had special affection for Shiv. She was knowing Shiv is meditatimg. She was serving him there itself. But Shiv didnt notice her presence also. At that time, god of love , Manmatha had come for Parvati's help.
With his bow, he shot flower love arrows to Shiv. Shiv's concentration was spoiled by that. With angryness, Shiv opened his third eye. Manmatha was burnt to ashes. By coming to know of this, Rati ,wife of Manmatha, was unconsolable.
Parvati thought all happened because of her. She decided to meditate and vowed that with that only, she will make Shiv to come near. By seeing her concentration for her goal, Shiv finally moved by her love. He decided to marry her. The son born is known as Kaartikeya and he killed Tarakusar.
For Manmath, Shiv granted him a boon that he can do the work without body.

  1. Yes, nice puranic story; then Rathi gets back Manmatha when he is reborn as Padyumna son of Rukmini and Krishna
