The curse given to Sita

In Ramayan , Sri Ram had abandoned his pregnant wife Sita by listening to the words of a servant . Servant had questioned Sita's character as Ravan had abducted her and kept as captive .

Sita had to undergo all of these because of a curse given to her .

Those were the days when Sita was still unmarried . Once when she was wandering in her garden , she heard two parrots singing the story of Ram and Sita .

She was surprised by listening to her own story.of future life . She held the two parrots which were couple . That time , husband parrot requested Sita to let his wife parrot go as she was pregnant .

But Sita didn't agree for that and said to husband parrot that she will release him whereas his wife parrot will be with her .

By listening to this , husband parrot got angry . He cursed Sita saying that she will face the same situation when she will be pregnant after marriage i.e. even she will get seperated from her husband when she is pregnant.

Capillary action in blossoming of paper flower

This is a very simple experiment. All we need is a paper flower with its petals in closed position.

Now we will drop this flower with closed petals into water. Now we will be surprised to see that the closed petals of paper flower are now opening !

What is the reason behind this? It is because of capillary action of water. Capillary action of any liquid is the ability of the liquid to flow in narrow passages without help of any external force not even gravity.

The paper is made of tiny spaces of fibres. Water is slightly more attracted towards fibres. When paper which is made of fibres comes in contact with water, because of capillary action water gets inside of the tiny gaps of paper.

Because of this, paper swells. That's why paper goes wrinky when it first absorb water but it also causes any folds to open back again.

When paper flower is kept in water, due to capillary action water enters inside paper and as paper is swollen now, we see that the petals are blossoming.

Before starting any work , preparations are required ....

Once lived a wood cutter . He was searching for job . That time , a rich man hired him for work . Wood cutter is supposed to cut trees and supply the logs to saw mill run by rich man .

On first day of his work , wood cutter had cut 20 trees and supplied the logs to factory . Rich man was very happy with the performance of wood cutter and rewarded him nicely .

This encouraged the wood cutter . He thought if he do hard work , then his financial condition will improve to a large extent .

But to his horror , next day he was able to cut only 15 trees . The number went on decreasing in future . Worried as he , he went near rich man and said the problem he is facing .

Rich man smiled and asked the wood cutter " When is the last time you had sharpened your axe ?!"

MORAL : Failure is guaranteed if we start a work without proper preparation .

Experiment still not explained by science ......

There was a competition of preparing the ice as earliest as possible. One student had put hot water itself in the ice making tray in a hurry .

Surprisingly , using hot water , ice was formed earlier than the ones using cold water. Science is still not capable of explaining this phenomena . This phenomena is called by the name Mpemba effect .

Who is the founder of Jainism ?

Yesterday I was watching a quiz program on t.v. . Quiz master asked the question  Who is the founder of Jainism ?

I thought it is a really easy question . All of us think that it is Mahavir . This name was in options too . All the contestants said the same as the answer . But it is not the correct answer !

Mahavir is one of the thirthankara of Jainism . Jainism has 24 thirthankaras . A thirthankara is a saviour and spiritual leader of righteous path .

Then who is the founder of Jainism ?

It is Rishabhanath .

Times have changed ....

I always get the above said feeling whenever I take a look at the marks of today's science students . Just have a look at a student's marks .....

Physics   ---    100/100
Chemistry  ----- 100/100
Mathematics   ----- 100/100

Nowadays students are scoring 100 % as their average . All the colleges are competing among themselves to prepare the students to get 100%.

When I was in my 10th , or in my college days : getting distinction is the greatest achievement for us . That's 70% .

In the exam room , after having a look at the question paper , I was attempting the questions whose answers are ( method ) known to me .

Then comes difficult questions . Even Though I don't know how to solve the problem , I just write the given data . Because even that carried 1 or 2 marks . Attempting the question was important because if the question is out of syllabus , then the students who tried to solve the problem , were given grace marks . Those were my college days .

At that time , valuation was very strict . It was very difficult to score above 90 . But now , scoring 99.99 is also not enough to get the admission in a prestigious college .!

I have become quite old now !!
