Less known story about God Ganesh

Today is Ganesh Chaturthi . This is the day of birth of God Ganesh . God Ganesh is elephant headed God . This shows we Hindus worship animals as our Gods and always protect them .


All of us know story of severed head Ganesh . His father God Shiva had chopped off the head of God Ganesh for not letting him to enter the house.


But the story now I am writing states that God Shani is responsible for the detachment of normal head of God Ganesh . The story goes like this ....


Goddess Parvati was very unhappy that she is childless . To have a child  , she started to pray God Vishnu . Satisfied with her prayers , God Vishnu blessed her with a boy child .


We Hindus arrange a ceremony when it is time to put the new born baby into  the cradle . Same way , Goddess Parvati has also arranged a ceremony for the new born baby Ganesh . She invited all the Gods and Goddesses to attend the function .


Everyone had come except God Shani . We believe that just the small glance of God Shani will bring the bad luck in our life . That's why God Shani didn't attend the function .

But Goddess Parvati was very adamant . She succeeded to bring God Shani forcefully to attend the function . But as soon as God Shani took a glance of new born baby Ganesh , head of Ganesh got seperated from his body . Then God Vishnu attached the head of a dead elephant to body of God Ganesh .


That's why God Ganesh is also hailed as GAJAVADANA meaning elephant headed .

Why do cold objects emit vapour as hot objects do ?

Yesterday I was having my lunch . My father seved hot rice to my plate . Vapours were coming out from the hot rice . At the same time , he also brought out the buttermilk packet kept in the freezer . To my surprise , vapours were coming out from the cold buttermilk packet !


I was very curious about this .


When we place a hot object in the room temperature , the surrounding air gets hot . Now this hot air moves away from the object as it is lighter .

But when it moves away from object , it gets cooled down to room temperature . When it is cooling down , it will not be able to hold the vapour , it has absorbed , in it . So the vapour gets changed to water molecules and we see that mist coming out from hot object .


Similarly , when we keep the cold object in the room temperature , the atmospheric air gets cooled down . At that time , some of the water molecules in it gets condensed and forms white mist .



Thus , the reason for mist coming out from both hot and cold things are one and the same .

Fair judgement given by Prahlad

As Hiranyakashipu was killed by God Vishnu , his son Prahlad was crowned king . Though he is an asura , Prahlad was kind to everyone unlike his ancestors . He was famous for giving fair judgement .




One day 2 women entered his court quarelling over the possession of a new born baby . Both of them claimed that child is hers .






Prahlad thought his mother Kayadu could solve this possession problem . He sent the two women near his mother along with new born baby .




Kayadu asked the first lady to breastfeed the child . Without making any fuss , child started to drink milk . Halfway itself , Kayadu asked the second lady to breastfeed the child .



This time also , child started to drink the milk without making any fuss . Now even Kayadu got confused about who is the real mother .





Prahlad got to know all these . He said to the court that since it is still uncertain about who is the real mother , the baby should be cut into two pieces and each of the ladies should be given a piece .

Hearing that , first lady cried and agreed that child is not hers . Can be given to other lady but child must not be made half .



Second lady with a victorious smile , came forward to get the baby .



But Prahlad stopped the second lady and handed over the child to first lady saying she is the real mother . Only the real mother can not handle the news of her child getting punishment .

Without pain , no gain

Rahul is a school going boy . He is a topper in his class . Besides being studious , observing nature is one of his hobby . He likes to help who is in trouble .

It was a holiday for school . Rahul decided to take a stroll in his garden . When walking , he was very delighted by hearing the chirping of different birds .


Now he is having a look at the blossomed flowers . He skipped counting numbers when counting the different colours of flowers !


Oh... Oh...


Rahul just spotted a caterpillar which is covered in a cocoon . Rahul remembered that butterflies when they are grown up , try to come out of the cocoon which is around them when they are caterpillars .


Rahul with a great interest , started to watch what is going to happen next ? The caterpillar was struggling hard to come out of the cocoon .


It was kicking the cocoon hard by its legs  so that it can come out of it . By watching the caterpillar of its hardships , Rahul thought he has to help the caterpillar to come out of the cocoon .

Likewise , he gently cut the cocoon , keeping in mind not to hurt the caterpillar . Finally , caterpillar came out of the cocoon . But to Rahul's horror , it was having undeveloped legs and wings .


It is the nature's rule that a caterpillar  have to undergo all these hardships . Then only , its legs and wings get fully developed and caiterpillar will change into a beautiful butterfly .


Though Rahul was having the good intention of helping the caterpillar , it was strongly backfired . In nature's dictionary , there is no gain , without pain . 

Why some people have 6 fingers in their hand ?

Presence of 6th finger in hand or 6th toe in the feet is not uncommon . It can be on both the hands or on only one hand .

This condition is called hexadactyly .  The 6th finger or toe can be on different locations , on either sides of the extremity or somewhere in between .


When there is in the formation of fingers , this condition arises . An extra finger forms when a single finger splits . Medically this condition occurs without any apparent cause .


Hexadactyly itself can be absolutely harmless , easily remedied .

How did Prahlad became Vishnu bhakt though he is an asura ?

The rivalry between devas and asuras is very well known . Prahlad is the son of asura king Hiranyakashipu . Hiranyakashipu had developed so much hate against God Vishnu such that he had ordered his countrymen not to chant the name of Vishnu .




Then how come Prahlad being son of Hiranyakashipu was seen chanting the name of God Vishnu all the time ?





When mother of Prahlad , Kayadu was pregnant , her husband Hiranyakashipu had gone to perform tapas so that he can please God Brahma . At that time , king of devas  , Indra , tried to kill Prahlad before his birth . Because of this , sage Narada requested Kayadu to be in his hut till she delivers the baby .





When Kayadu was in his hut  , Narada used to tell stories about God Vishnu and how he is protecting the entire world . Only pregnant Kayadu didn't listened to the stories , Prahlad in his foetus form was also listening to the stories .



Thus Prahlad became Vishnu bhakt since childhood .
