Why are train roofs curved ??

 Here are the reasons  -----

1.   To deflect rainwater and snow

If train roofs are flat, every downpour turn the top of the train into a mini swimming pool  !!!

A curved design allows rain water and snow to slide off easily. Accumulation could lead to leaks and rust.

2.   To reduce air resistance

A curved roof helps the air flow    smoothly over the train body,  reducing drag and increasing fuel efficiency.

3.  To strengthen the structure

Curves are stronger than flat surfaces.  Can withstand strong winds.

4.  To create more headroom inside

The arched roof provides extra headroom without increasing width of train or compromising stability.

5.  To keep the temperature balanced

Curved sufaces make environment less stuffy during long journeys.
