Bheja Fry Question

  Monica purchased a pressure cooker at 9/10th of its selling price.  Later she sold it at 8% more than its selling price.

What is her gain percentage  ??

In the first, we assign a value to original selling price.

Let us assume that original selling price of cooker is Rs 100.

Monica bought it at 9/10 th of original selling price.

==>>  cost price  =  9/10  *  original selling price

==>>  cost price =  9/10  *  100

==>>    cost price  =   90.

Monica sold the pressure cooker at 8% more than its original selling price.

==>>  New selling price  =  original price + 8% of original price

==>>                = 100  +   8%of 100

==>>  New selling price =  100  +  8

==>> New selling price  =  108

This means Monica bought the cooker at  90 and resold it at  108.

Her gain =  108 -  90  =  18

To find out gain percentage,

Gain percentage  =   18/90  * 100

==>>          1/5   *  100

==>>     Gain percentage  =  20%    !!!
