How did Nirma got its name?
"Nirma" is a most popular brand of detergents and washing powder. It is a major consumer brand offering a range of detergents , soaps and personal care products.
Nirma was founded by Dr. Karsanbhai Patel ., a chemist at the Gujarat Government's Department of mining and geology. They were manufacturing synthetic phosphate free detergent powder. Karsanbhai Patel started to sell it locally.
There was a huge demand for this yellow powder in his home town of Gujarat . Patel named the powder as Nirma , after his daughter Nirupama. Thus Nirma had its name.
