                              The acid responsible for tooth decay

Scientifically speaking , not the acid but the fermentation of acid is responsible for tooth decay. The acid is Lactic acid.
Fermentation is the process which is responsible for the paste which is used to make tasty dosas. Lactic acid is also known as milk acid. 
The bacteria named lactic acid bacteria , grow in the mouth , the acid they produce is lactic acid which is responsible for tooth decay.
The chemical formula is C3H6O3 .Lactic acid is also produced in muscles as a result of anaerobic glucose metabolism .It is found in sour milk and also called as hydroxypropanoic acid.
