Nichrome , in iron box

                                          Nichrome , in iron box

Nichrome is a non- magnetic alloy of nickel , chromium and iron . It is used as a resistance wire. It is silvery grey in colour .
Due to its high electrical resistivity and resistance to oxidation at high temperature , it is widely used in electric heating elements . It is wound in coils to a certain electrical resistance and current is passed through it to produce heat.
The iron box we use in our homes to iron our clothes also has nichrome coils to produce heat.
