Why do vultures becoming rare in India ?

Indian vultures are becoming rare nowadays . They feed on the carcasses of dead animals .
But a drug named diclofenac is becoming the cause for death of vultures . How ?


Diclofenac is a common anti inflamatory drug that is administered to livestocks . It is used to treat symptoms of fever , pain associated with live stock . But this drug is fatal to vultures .

The vulture is exposed to this drug when it eats from the carcass of an animal that has been treated by this drug in its life time.

By this way , vultures are facing threat to their lives. Indian government has banned the use of this perticular drug.
