In a class of 50 students, 45 students have passed the exam.  What is the failing percentage ??

Answer 

First we must read the question carefully.

Though it is saying about the number of passing students, at the end it is asking for failing percentage !!!!

We will go by step by step,

Total students  =  50

Students who have passed   =  45

Students who failed  =  Total students  -  Number of passed students 

                                              50    -      45

Students who have failed  =  5

Failing percentage  =  (  Failed students  )  /  (  Total number of students )  *  100

==>>     (   5  /  50  )  *  100

==>>       0.1   *   100

==>>       10 %

Similarly, passing percentage  = ( passed students / total students )  / 100

==>>  (   45 /  50 )  * 100

==>>    0.9 * 100

==>>    90  %
