Why does sound travel faster in water than in air?

Sound waves travel faster in water than in air. How does a sound wave travel ?It travels by exciting the  adjacent molecules to vibrate.
The way we talk also happens because of vibration of air molecules. But we can communicate better in water than that of outer surroundings.
Water is denser than air and therefore more elastic. In water , the molecules are tightly bonded with each other than that of air.
Hence because of vibration of molecules , sound travels faster in water than in air.
