RBI's first governor learnt to be humble

RBI's first governor learnt to be humble

Chittaranjan Deshmukh had earned the chance to study in foreign country. He returned to India after studying. Those were the days of freedom struggle.
Gandhiji was the leader through his non-violence movement. Everywhere people were talking about him. When Chittaranjan had returned to India, he had the ambition to meet Gandhiji.
Likewise, he went to Sabarmati Ashram to meet Gandhiji and expressed his wish to spend some time there. Gandhiji agreed but told him that he has to earn his meal.
Chittaranjan agreed. Gandhiji asked him to clean the toilets of ashram ! Chittaranjan didnt expect that.He was very proud of himself that he has earned a degree in foreign. For such a brilliant one, toilet cleaning was a very disgusting job.
Seeing his silence, Gandhiji asked him not to take worries and he , himself will do the work for him ! Gandhiji started cleaning the toilets too !
By seeing that, Chittaranjan realised that no work is inferior. He became a humble man. Later he participated as a freedom fighter and became the first governor of Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ).
