                                     Word Utkala in our national anthem

Everyone of us knows in our national anthem , a line " Dravida Utkala Vanga " comes. Dravida means southern states, Vanga means Bengal. But what is Utkala?
Utkala is the name of the place in ancient India. It is believed that the eastern and northern part of today's Orissa state is Utkala. There is a reason behind the name. It is believed that during that time in  Utkala, all famous artists were residing. Utkala is actually Uchcha Kalavida. The word is of Samskrit origin. In Samskrit Uchcha means high and Kalavida means artists.
