Some facts about union territories of India

  There are 8 Union territories in India.

They are - - - - - - -

1. Andaman and Nicobar islands

2. Chandigarh

3. Dadra nagarhaveli and Daman diu

4. Delhi

5. Jammu Kashmir

6. Ladakh

7. Lakshadeep

8. Puducherry

Every union territory is administered by President acting through an administrator appointed by him. 

It is up to the President to specify the designation of an administrator. 

It could either be Lieutenant Governor or Administrator.

Lt. Governor is a constitutional post but may not necessarily be a bureaucrat.

Whereas administrator has to be the part of bureaucracy. 

At present, 

Lt. Governors are in Delhi,Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar islands, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh 

Administrator are in Chandigarh, Dadra nagarhaveli and Daman diu and Lakshadeep.
