Aniruddha and gully cricket

 My nephew Aniruddha had come to spend his summer holiday.

Aniruddha is very fond of cricket. 

One day evening, he went to play ground. 

When he returned, he was fully covered with dust and sweat. 

After taking bath, he started telling me what happened in the playground. 

Aniruddha along with his 5 friends, planned to play cricket, gully cricket.

They made 2 teams of 3 people each in the team !!!!

Aniruddha 's opponent team had scored 26 runs in 3 overs !!!

Now target is 27 runs to score in 3 overs. 

Looks an easy target of 9 runs per over !!!

Aniruddha' s team started batting.

Because of tight bowling of opponent team, Aniruddha 's team could score only 1 run in the first over.

2 runs in the second over !!!

More to that, Aniruddha' s team had lost the openers !!!

One is clean bowled and the other one was run out !!!

Now score is 3 for 2 wickets !!!

Last over of the match and last batsman !!!

24 runs required in last 6 balls. 

Aniruddha being the last batsman, was very tensed and nervous !!!

But Aniruddha was able to hit boundaries in the last 5 balls. 

He didn't hit sixes  as he is scared of getting caught !!! 

Now score is 20 runs for 2 wickets. 

Only Aniruddha is batting because he is the only player left in his team !!!

Last ball of the match and a boundary is a must to win the match !!!!

Aniruddha gathered all of his strength and has hit the ball.

Alas !!!  The ball didn't go to boundary !!!

It was fielded by a fielder. 

No runs in the last ball !!!

Aniruddha's team lost by 4 runs  !!!

I felt really bad.  The pain of losing the about to win the match is clearly showing on Aniruddha 's face.

But I must say this gully cricket match is equally thrilling as an IPL match !!!
