Story of origin of Rudraksh tree

The word " Rudraksha " contains 2 Sanskrit words -- " Rudra " and " Aksh " , meaning Lord Shiva and teardrop respectively.
According to Hindu mythology, once God Shiva went into deep meditation for the well being of all the living creatures.
When he woke up, he opened his eye. At that time, a tear drop fell from his eye on the ground. This tear drop later took the form of a seed and later became the rudraksh tree. The dry seed capsule from rudraksh tree form the rudraksh beads.
The beads are also worn as chain and is believed sacred in Hinduism. Hence, Rudraksh means Tear of God Shiv.
