Tragic hero of Mahabharata - - Ekalavya

Ekalavya is the young Prince of low cast tribe, living in forest.

He aspired to study archery under the guidance of Dronacharya. But Dronacharya rejected him.

Ekalavya embarks upon the program of self study.

He made the clay image of Dronacharya and starts practicing.

Ekalavya managed to achieve the archery skill that of Arjuna.

Arjuna fears that Ekalavya may have eclipsed him in archery skill.

Arjuna was jealous of Ekalavya.

Arjuna reminded Dronacharya of his promise of making him the best archer in the world.

Dronacharya had become blind in the matter of Arjuna.

To nullify Arjuna 's fear, he directly went near Ekalavya and asked for  gurudakshina from him.

Ekalavya was ready to give anything.

That time, Dronacharya cruelly asked for the thumb of his right hand.

Ekalavya cheerfully and without any hesitation,  severes his thumb from his body and hands it over to Dronacharya.

The loss has hampered Ekalavya of his ability in archery. Crippled Ekalavya could no longer be able to show skills in archery.

Arjuna 's jealousy made  Ekalavya to lose his thumb.

Later in Mahabharata war, he joined the army of Kouravas and got killed by Arjuna.
