Blood sucking animals in nature

 1.  Vampire bats

                   These small bats drink blood from livestocks. They have heat sensors on their noses to find blood vessels close to the skin.

                    They are found in central and south America.





2.  Leeches 

                    Leeches are segmented worms that attach to hosts and suck their blood.  They secret an anti coagulant to prevent blood from clotting.

                   They are found in fresh water worldwide.





3.  Mosquitoes

                      Female mosquitoes feed on blood for egg development.  They are vectors for malaria and dengue fever.

                       They are found in warm and humid environment worldwide. 





4.  Bed bugs

                    These are the small and nocturnal insects that feed on human and animal blood. They can survive for several months without feeding.

                      They are commonly found in beds and furnitures.




5.  Fleas

                  These are small and wingless insects that feed on the blood of mammals and birds.
