On Earth, magnetic field of our planet, points a compass north.
But what about space ???
A compass would technically work in space.
It would point to the North pole of whatever magnetic field is the strongest.
It depends on where in space the compass is located.
A compass on Earth always responds to magnetic field of the planet.
Compass itself is a magnet and its north pole naturally aligns with South Pole of Earth's own magnetic field.
The region around the planet dominated by planet's own magnetic field is known as magnetosphere.
Of all the planets in solar system, a compass is most likely to point towards planet Jupiter.
Jupiter's magnetosphere is massive.
Suppose if we are not within a planet's magnetosphere ???
Most of space is seemingly empty.
But within our solar system, one magnetosphere dwarfs all others.
THAT IS OF SUN'S !!!!!
This is because Sun's solar wind carries its own faint magnetic field as it blasts out into the solar system.
