What chess piece it is ??

 This question was asked on Koun Banega Karodpati program.

Question 

Which piece used in chess, move straight but attacks sideways ??

1. King

2.  Rook

3.  Bishop 

4.   Pawn 

Answer 

To answer this question, we need the understanding of chess movements.

Since my nephew Aniruddha has made me familiar with chess movements ,  

I can answer this without any problem  !!!

Now we will look at how the king moves.

We don't play with King in the beginning of the game !!!

King starts to move when he got attacked means check mated.

King moves to save his life  !!!

King is allowed to move one space in all the 4 directions.

King rarely attacks  !!!

So  option King is ruled out .....  

Now coming to the movement of rook

Rook moves horizontally and vertically but don't attack sideways.

Rook is ruled out.....

Now coming to the movement of bishop 

Bishop moves sideways cant move straight 

Bishop is ruled out  ......

Now remaining is pawn

Let's look at movements of pawn 

Pawns move 2 spaces front in the first move and later only one space straight front. 

Pawns attack other pieces diagonally or sideways.
