The value of freedom

                                            The value of freedom

Long ago, there lived a king. He had won many places. Likewise, he had a slave also. The slave was doing each and every work of king. Before telling itself, he used to complete the work. King liked his service. Slave thought one day  King may leave him free. In that hope itself, he used to spend days without telling his mind. King also liked him.
One day, king purchased a parrot which can talk. King used to spend his time listening to parrot's voice whole day. He had the ambition of showing the parrot to everyone. Now the occasion came . It was his birthday. King arranged a big party. In that,he arranged an archestra also.
But on d-day itself, it came to know that the singer who had to perform in archestra had fallen ill. King thought of cancelling the perticular program. But at that time, slave had come with an idea. He said he will perform in archestra as he can also sing.
King had a doubt in mind about what slave is saying. But he agreed. Slave sung well in archestra. Everyone praised his singing and congratulated King also.  King was very happy. He asked slave to demand anything he wants, like gold and diamonds.
But slave didnt demand any of them. He asked for his freedom. King granted that and also gave the talking parrot as slave is looking after it. Slave happily walked on his way to his village with parrot. On mid way, parrot started talking to him. Firstly,it congratulated him.
Slave was very happy. He said he didnt dream that he will get freedom. He said King was very nice to him. But he wanted freedom. By listening to this, parrot asked for its freedom. Slave replied how can he? Then parrot replied " Now you know value of freedom. Even I am in the same position as you were. Free me as you have got freedom "
Slave realised what parrot had told is true. He freed the bird.

  1. Very nice, well explained. Yes, freedom is the greatest "possession" "right" - Lord has given us the freedom (discriminating power) to choose between doing good or evil - do our duty to the best our ability or be lazy.
Unfortunately many of us do not realize the value of this great freedom/option Lord has bestowed on us until some times it is too late or we suffer and then learn!/rgds/slr
