Ganesh as Ekadanta

                                 Ganesh as Ekadanta

God Ganesh is also called Ekadanta means having only one tusk. There is a story behind this.
Ganesh was keeping guard infront of room of his parents Shiv and Parvati. It was a well known fact that Ganesh will not fail in any work assigned to him. At that time , Parashuram had come to meet Shiv. But Ganesh didnt allow him to enter as he was keeping guard. Parashuram told it  is very important to meet Shiv. But Ganesh didnt agree.
Parashuram tried to convince Ganesh. But it was in vain. So, Parashuram was annoyed and he argued with Ganesh and also hit him. At that time, even Ganesh was in rage and a big fight happened between two. In that fight, Parashuram dragged one of the tusks of Ganesh as he was having elephant head.
The tusk came in the hands of Parashuram. Now, Ganesh is seen having only one tusk. Hence, he was having a name as Ekadanta.
