Today is Bali padyami.
Bali chakravarti is one of the greatest Kings. He had entire world under his control.
He was never deviated from the path of truth. He was a great devotee of God Vishnu and every one prised his rule.
According to the advice of his guru Shukracharya, he started doing Ashwamedha yagas.
Bali chakravarti has done 99 yagas. If he completes just one more yaga, he would be eligible for the post of Indra.
Indra didn't want this and asked the help of God Vishnu to get rid of him. Though Bali is a demon king, he was the ardent follower of God Vishnu.
He was ruling the world in the right way and people were living happily and in prosperity.
Indra's mother Aditi had taken the promise from God Vishnu that he will help Indra in his difficult times.
God Vishnu didn't want to kill Bali Chakravarti as he has no reason to kill.
God Vishnu took the form of a small kid, Vamana and asked Bali to give the land equivalent to his 3 foot steps.
Bali chakravarti asked Vamana to ask something more as whatever now he asked was too less.
But Vamana was adamant and Bali had to fulfil the wish. But Vamana started to grow vast in size.
By now he has occupied whole universe under his 2 foot steps. He innocently asked Bali where can he keep his third foot step ?
By now Bali has understood that Vamana is none other than God Vishnu himself.
Bali chakravarti politely asked Vamana to keep his third foot step on his head.
Vamana by keeping his foot on the head of Bali chakravarti pushed him down to patala loka.
As God Vishnu was impressed by works of Bali chakravarti, he blessed him to visit the earth once in a year.
On Bali padyami, we believe that Bali chakravarti comes to earth from patala loka and visit us.
