Which is the Indian language having most dialects?

 This question I came across when I was watching a quiz program on TV.

Question 

Which is the Indian language having most number of dialects ?

1.  Sanskrit 

2.  Hindi 

3.  Marathi 

4..  Bengali 

Answer 

I thought it is Sanskrit.

Sanskrit is called mother of all languages.

Every present day language has got influenced by Sanskrit.

Most languahes use script of Sanskrit, which is Devanagari.

But answer is not Sanskrit.

IT IS                       HINDI       !!!!!

Hindi is having almost 48  dialects.

Though  Bhojpuri , Rajasthani,  Chattisgarhi, Avadhi  and many more  were spoken as separate languages,

After independence, they all are considered as dialects of Hindi.

Thus making Hindi as the widely spoken Indian language.
