Why bullet train:s nose is shaped like a bird's beak ???

To know the reason, we have to go back to 1990s, to Japan.

When high speed trains reached unprecedented velocities, problem started to arise.

As trains hurtled into tunnels, they pushed a wave of compressed air ahead of them.

This pressure would bursts out the other end of tunnel with a loud sonic boom.

This happens when compressed air suddenly forced out, creates an explosive sound.

The solution they found in nature.

When a kingfisher bird plunges from air into water , it creates almost no splash  !!!

So, a bird's beak is naturally evolved to cut through resistance.

Japanese decided to redesign the nose of the train to mimic kingfisher's beak  !!!

With this, train has also reduced air resistance, improved energy efficiency and allowed for higher speeds.
